Our server was pleasant and quick to get our drinks. After eating the squid appetizer and halibut for main entree, which both tasted fresh, I was very ill the next day. Another in our party had ordered a hamburger MW, it was served MR, we asked for it to be put on the grill a bit longer. Instead, they started over, so the other two had finished their meals by the time the new hamburger was served, it was burnt to a crisp! We were not charged for the burger, nor was it eaten. The third person had the special "Medallion Steak" for $36. The pieces were scrawny and not appetizing, although it tasted okay.
This was our third time to this restaurant over a few years and each time it presented itself with a challenge, we will not be returning.
The food was very good although pricey for the amount/quantity received. For example, the gnocchi was delicious but for $25 only 10 gnocchi?? We split is as an appetizer for three (one lucky person got four) but as an entree it would not be enough. My husband had the fettucine and again, it was delicious but very little pasta for $25 or 26.....the noodles are pennies and they could easily increase their portion size without really impacting their bottom line.
Pappo's is a fabulous place to eat. Always creative menus using local produce and paired with local wines.
Great neighborhood vibe with very good food and service. Ideal selection if you are in/near Alameda. The Alameda theater & cineplex is conveniently located across the street. Plenty of street & off-street parking (FREE in the evenings).
Fresh, family friendly, neighborhood gem. Brought three people who had never been before an they loved it!
Pappo is a hidden gem in Alameda. Their wine menu is phenomenal and the food is always so fresh and delicious. I rarely like to go back to the same restaurant because I love trying new places, but Pappo is one that I find myself returning to. Great for date night or an evening with friends.

Appreciated the fresh ingredients in all of our dishes. Was very disappointed that my dinner - gnocchi- was ‘blackened .’ Leads me to think that they were probably frozen. Overpriced for the meals we had. Will probably not return.
We had reservations for 7:30 but got into town about an hour earlier. There accommodated us even though they had reservations for the time we arrived. We sat at the outside seating (that was not held for reservations.)
All our dishes were outstanding.

Great food and service! I highly recommend Pappo for a great meal in a nice location.
My meal consisted of: fried anchovies stuffed olives, Ahi Tuna Tartare, and duck over noodles. The meal and service was excellent. Chose a Sauvignon Blanc that was also great. I shall return, soon!
Everything was excellent except they forgot to give me my take home box. I was hosting an out-of-towner and we had a great conversation. I left without taking half a delicious rib-eye steak home.

The food was really fresh and seasonal -- delicious corn, peaches, etc. Everyone in our party loved it!
The Gnocchi was excellent. Fresh and tasty! The gilled Salmon was OK, not great. It could have been grilled a bit more. Staff is great.

It used to be my favorite restaurant in Alameda, but not anymore. The service is still wonderful, as is the wine list and certain items. But the overall food quality has gone down. Come on Pappo!

Went for wife’s birthday dinner. Great food as usual with super fresh ingredients. Outstanding service and refreshing craft cocktails. Always a good time. Loved the mango cream pie desert!

I have eaten here previously and really enjoyed it, maybe it was an off night, but I was quite disappointed in the food. It was quite bland and tasteless.
A pleasant restaurant. The food this time was the best we ever had here, the Thursday night Market Dinner, 3 courses for $38. The best pork chop I've had since the Frances era at Lalime's (1990's?). Wonderful cantaloupe & greens salad. Great Strawberries & Crème Chantilly (whipped cream?) on really excellent shortbread (not shortcake). Equal to anything in the East Bay on this outing.
Service started off great, but declined as it got busier. Wait person distracted with "friend" patrons. Waiting painfully to get on with the end of dinner and move on to dessert and/or coffee, then the bill.
It wasn't horrible, servicer should be more attentive towards others.
The meal was prepared very well and the service was great. Have been here many times and they never fail to impress.
Coming to this Alameda neighborhood Gem is always a delight! From the moment I arrive I’m made to feel like family, and immediately greeted warmly. Giuseppe makes the rounds among his guests with time to make us all feel special! The food is always top notch!
Noise level is deafening and when diners began to leave the manager put on mind-numbing rock music nd refused to lower the volume or change the genre, even after 2 polite requests on my part. Id rather die then go there again!

Had a really, really good dinner. The halibut was the best I've ever had. Melt in your mouth kind of meal!
We felt quite at home. Servers and staff were gracious and efficient. I had the marker meal which evidently is available on Thursday events. It was quite delicious. The chicken was slightly over cooked, but tasty nonetheless. I’ll surely return.
