Pappo
Interesting course selections - not too many. Well worth a visit.
Nice menu. Haven’t been here in a while but food was good. Go back to Feel Good French bread with your Pate.
We had a pre-Valentine's Day dinner at Pappo and the food, service and ambiance were excellent. Their wine list is also full of great values.
Absolutely delicious food and delightful dining experience!
Small portions that were too expensive for the taste.
Pappo is a very good local restaurant that serves quality food and excellent cocktails.
Great place and good food. Great wine pairing recommendations, too. Ambience was great. Friendly and knowledgeable servers.
Great Caesar salad, but had to wait forever for each course to come; it was hard to appreciate the
main dish because we were so irritated. Everything fell apart with dessert. We all ordered the bread pudding, and one of them hadn't "settled" but was served anyway. It was a soupy, undercooked
fiasco that tasted like raw batter. Appalled that they thought it was okay to serve something so gross,
and then to charge for it. Will not be returning.
Was our first time here. Food was great. Server was excellent. Helpful, good advice, accomodating. Very tolerant of our kids (who are not the best behaved).
Always a nice experience. Beth is an outstanding waitress and Maia, the bartender wrote out the recipe for her holiday cocktail "Festivus"which was delicious.
Great service, great atmosphere. Hands down, one of the best meals I've had in quite some time!
We love going to Pappoflr
A little pricey but great food and service.
Very nice service and food. Four of us had a good time. Two adults and two teenagers enjoyed the food. Not a big place but clean an cozy. Jess was our server and she was very friendly yet professional and knowledgeable.
Very good food, outstanding service, nice wine selection. Great for any special occasion.
Disappointed in the food, service was friendly but not exceptional, atmosphere pleasant. OK as a neighborhood place but not worth a trip from elsewhere.
Always an enjoyable experience at Pappo!
My gnocchi was just a soggy. I loved the flavor overall though. My friends burger was mediocre. He should have ordered medium rare for a more juicy experience. Pappo will remain my go to Alameda restaurant in any case. The staff is great and I love my table #12
Excellent food and great service!
We highly recommend this restaurant. It was convenient near Main Street in Alameda. There are parking lots of near by.
We had two great appetizers a beet salad and the stuffed olives with anchovies. Yum. For entrees we had an Italian dish with pork and beef and the duck risotto .
Both dishes were tasty. We tried the cocktail made with vodka and edifice.
Restaurant is small and intimate highly recommend reservations on the weekend especially. Staff was great service was wonderful.
Loved it! The meal, the service, the restaurant...exceeded my expectations. Will be back!!
Great date night spot for my wife and me. We had the mezcal Manhattan and the faction IPA to start. Both were great. The quinoa salad for a shared starter was amazing. I want to try to make that at home. We shared the halibut and prime rib for entrees and went with recommendations on paired wines. Everything was delicious and I love the location.
My partner and I are regulars here. We love everything about this place!
A long-time favorite of ours. Best Calfornia-style dining in Alameda. Fresh ingredients, artfully prepared and served by a friendly, professional staff. When you don't want to leave the island, but want a meal worthy of "downtown", this is the place.
I really liked Pappo a lot. The service was very good and the food excellent (I had the burger which I loved). It is a bit tight space, but it is a great place to have a supper with friends. Hard to think of anything wrong with this restaurant choice for a weekend night out.
Amazing variety and delicious food. This is one of the best restaurants in Alameda.
We had such a fantastic date night at Pappo! The food was delicious, the wine and cocktails were amazing, and the ambiance was perfect for a Sunday night. The staff were super attentive and made a point of answering our questions and making sure that we had everything we needed. We will be back!
Nice choices for both the meat eaters and vegetarians in our group. Tasty and well prepared.
The food is really good, you must try the gnocchi with corn! They have a good selection of wines and the service is kind and good. Its a good place for a casual dinner. My only negative opinion is that noise level was above my taste and our table was too close from the next one.
We had the duck pate, roasted duck breast, applewood smoked tri tip, pork chop & flourless German chocolate cake, EVERYTHING was delicious! The service was amazing & the atmosphere was lively! Will definitely recommend & will DEFINITELY be coming back.
Overpriced...very expensive...not worth the price.
Always a great meal at Pappo. The menu is always fantastic and they always have a great selection of wines for fair prices.
Excellent food, delicately made. Every bite of appetizer and entree were delicious and full of flavor. Will go back and try other things on the menu!
Lovely meal overall. Salad and soup delicious. Duck breast a tad gamey for me but the bed of risotto it sat on was great. Sea bass a bit oversalted and I didn't care for the saffron rice. And loved the fried olives, much to my surprise. Peach crisp was super yummy. Service friendly and warm. Try the in-house wine. A lovely evening and I would return.
My husband’s meal was outstanding and mine was awful. He had the best salad and sea bass. I had a Caesar salad that they put dried (not fresh) Parmesan. I got the zucchini spaghetti which was so bitter. She took it off the bill and the server was outstanding. I’d try it again. But a bit of a hit and miss.
We celebrated my husband's birthday at Pappo. Living on the island for nearly five years, we've passed this place a thousand times and never decided to go in, but taking a closer look at the menu, it seemed like a good idea. Fay was our server. She was friendly and knowledgeable, and the service was unhurried yet attentive. The music playing in the background was enjoyable but didn't drown out our conversation. We shared a golden beet salad and had the duck orecchiette and house-made gnocchi with (optional) bacon, and a couple of beers. Our food was delicious. The gnocchi, which I ordered with some trepidation, did not disappoint. For dessert, Fay gave my husband a scoop of coffee ice cream with a candle and sweet, low-key birthday greeting. We'd happily dine at Pappo again.
Food was fabulous. The service was also perfect. We had a wonderful celebratory meal
And we will definitely return !!
It is difficult to provide truly personalized service and yet the Pappo servers do it seamlessly. The small venue makes the dining experience so much more enjoyable. If I had one request it would be for an additional choice of lighter fare during the summer months due to the heat. Wine selections are interesting and good.
Birthday
Always a place to go for delicious food, lovely service with knowledgeable staff and fun atmosphere. We have never had a bad meal or poor wine here!
In a word, OUTSTANDING! Delicious food and and impeccable service. All expectations met.
What more could I ask from a restaurant?
