Table behind us was very loud and the lady was practicing lots of profanity. Told the server, his resolution was to bring us more wine. Manager in my opinion never addressed our issue nor did he come to our table. Poor experience and we have done dined there several times. Not going back to that location anytime soon.
Pappas has become one of our favorite places to dine on special occasions. While Pappas definitely lands on the high side of the price scale, the quality steaks and outstanding service easily justify the cost.
This was a birthday dinner for my wife, and we had the artisan cheese platter as an appetizer along with a lovely bottle of German Riesling selected by the sommelier that fell well within our price range. The cheese platter had a nice selection of American cheeses along with crostini, dried cranberries, nuts and honey comb that we devoured in record time.
We then decided to share the 40 oz Porterhouse for two, carved tableside along with the crab mac and cheese (yeah, no "healthy" veggies on this visit!). The steak was perfectly cooked medium-rare and both the filet and strip were tender, which each cut having its own distinct flavor from the difference in marbling.
We ordered Key Lime pie to go (we were stuffed at this point), and when we got home we were pleasantly surprised to see that not only had our server (I wish I could remember her name) packaged our leftovers, but also sent home a full loaf of fresh bread and a container of butter.
I will note that Pappas main dining room has the tendency to be very loud, but in a good way if that makes sense. We were seated in a smaller room just off the bar, and it seemed that most of us seated in that quiet area were celebrating some occasion.
Pappas is a place we visit about once a year, and we will definitely be back.
I've touted this as the greatest steakhouse ever and recommended it to everyone for many years. Not anymore. The ribeye i had for my birthday on Friday was not the same beautifully aged melt-in-your-mouth perfection I remembered it being. It was a nicely cooked mediocre cut of steak at best. It was so lean that I was genuinely confused as to whether they accidentally brought me out a strip. Chewy. Nearly indistinguishable from ordering a choice-grade ribeye from saltgrass, but for 2.5x the price. Not worth the $55.
Excellent service as always.
This was a Date night to celebrate my husband’s bday. It was great. Service was wonderful. Food was amazing.
As always, Pappas Bros Steakhouse serves an outstanding meal. This was only topped by the quality of the service we received from Carol...she is a real gem!
Appetizer was delicious. Steak was one of the best I've ever had. Waiter was very personable and knowledgeable . All of the staff was very attentive to our needs and wants.
Food and service is some the best around! Very, very pricey!
Must be for very special occasion!
Excellent cocktails (although at $15, it would have been nice to fill the glass), very good food and presentation, attentive service without being intrusive. We came to Pappas to celebrate our 51st anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We'll return.
Went to Pappas Steakhouse to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was wonderful! We started with cocktails in the bar area which were great! Sat down right at our reservation time in a quiet area in the back of the restaurant which was nice. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer which was different but very good. Then I had a shrimp bisque and my husband got the house salad - that ranch was delish! We both got steaks which were so good and perfectly cooked. We got asparagus and the special crab mac n cheese which was amazing! Ended the meal with the turtle pie which was also great! Overall it was a great experience and we really enjoyed our meal! The service was outstanding - by far the best we have ever had. We will for sure be back!
Except for a loud large table next to us, everything was good.
Ambiance started out good though the candle kept going out. Staff was courteous and prompt. Food was pretty good except the special wagyu. It was actually sinewy and tough. Manager resolved it by ordering a few extra pieces very rare. Then a 5 top of guys were seated next to us. Things got really noisey and wanted to leave. It was the typical upscale steakhouse experience.
made the choice to go to pappas on westhimer versus McKinney location and it was absolutely
perfect for my anniversary impeccable service and staff was more than gracias for my 37th anniversary dinner keep up the good work mr verba GM
Every thing was wonderful. The noise level and acoustics were horrible. Could not carry on a conversation without yelling and even that was a challenge to hear. Shared concern with staff and was told they were aware but this was the environment Mgt wanted
It was just wonderful! The food was amazing and the service was remarkable.
Amazing food. Exceptional service. Perfect for our anniversary
The food was outstanding but the service was over the top. From the moment you walked in you could tell that Pappas invested time and energy in providing a high level of attention to the customer. AAA+
If you are looking for a special occasion place, this is the one and only, go to for an outstanding evening.
I’ve been coming here for years, have never been disappointed.
Great steaks, probably my favorite classic steakhouse in the US!
A bit expensive but worth every penny
Our meal was excellent as was the service. Our waiter couldn't have been any nicer. Would definitely recommend for a date night or special occasion (anniversary!). The only downside was the long wait. Even with reservations, our wait was over 45 minutes. Fortunately, we found a table at the bar.
It was our first time to the restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. It is now our new favorite steak restaurant in Houston.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food and service was outstanding.
Unfortunately there was a seemingly nice but clueless family seated in a he middle table of a modest dining area with a screaming infant that went on and in for at least 25 to 30 minutes. No family member had the thought of taking the infant to the restroom ?
I am a family person that had children and have 4 grandchildren. I would never think to take an infant to a high end steakhouse during dinner hours where each customer is paying north of $125 to dine.
Not sure what the wait staff can do. It puts everyone in an awkward and unpleasant situation.
Fabulous Girls Night Out!!
Our food was great, and so were our drinks, and waiting time was minimal.
But we were placed in an area that seemed to be exclusively for families with YOUNG children which ruins the experience if you were looking for quiet conversation.
The food was pricey, which is fine, until they took our food without offering to bag it. We had assumed they bagged it until we looked at the bag they gave us for left over dessert, and realised that they hadn't bagged any of our other food- which was, quantity wise, under half eaten.
50th Anniversary and a Birthday celebration
Best steak in town. Atmosphere & staff are above average. We love it & make a point to go every chance we get.
Unbelievable experience and food. Probably the best steak I’ve had in Houston. Definitely going back soon.
I've been to many restaurants and Papas Brothers Steakhouse is the best steak house in Houston.
Very expensive but fabulous service, food and wine
We love this restaurant but we’re a little disappointed. My husband accidentally left two Birthday cards with gift cards in them. I talked to a person the day after and she said they weren’t there. I thought a restaurant of this caliber would have had them. I guess all people aren’t honest.
Our meal was fantastic, wonderful and excellent in all ways. The service was absolutely great. The champagne was superb and the wine was perfect for the well seasoned steaks.
We loved everything about it and the food was delicious.
We were looking for a traditional steakhouse on our visit to Texas. A friend of ours recommended this place and we were not disappointed. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. Our waiter was fantastic allowed us enough space and time to enjoy ourselves. Although my steak was a little under cooked, it was still delicious. Everything else was cooked to perfection.
This is the premier restaurant in Houston for the finest steak and great service. Jason and his team really know how to make a guest feel special!
really enjoyed dining at Pappas. We had a date night in a little room inside the restaurant. Very quaint. Great Food and Service.
It was totally an awesome meal and the service was impeccable. After all of these years in business, the restaurants maintains it's quality in an upscale manner. Thank you for keeping it this way. We'll be back.
The best foi gras, live lobster, and dessert (moon pie)
Always great service and food and that leads to have fun - which we did again.
Always enjoyable...Eric is fantastic...always attentive and never a dull moment...
I had heard that this was the best steak place in Houston but it did not live up to expectations. Japanese Wagyu was not as good as some of the other less expensive Wagyu steak we have had and was not much better than the filet that one of us ordered. The rub on the filet had an excessive amount of salt in it. Overall, I felt the meal was overpriced for the experience and the quality of the preparation.
Wonderful - we were especially impressed with the service. James was knowledgeable and had impeccable recommendations
