Exceptional. Our guests were equally impressed. The service was beyond superb
Service was not up to par for a high end restaurant. Sommelier forgot my wine order. Waiter disappeared. There are too many high end steak houses in Houston to choose from for Pappas to drop the ball.
It was my fiancée's birthday and they did a good job. One negative was we had several waitpersons and they duplicated questions. All in all a very good experience.
Loved everything from the drinks, appetizer, main course to the dessert very well prepared.
First time visiting the downtown location and it came with mixed emotions. The atmosphere was great, very clean and elegant as expected. I ordered a 12 oz prime filet and was not impressed. I am very familiar with prime cuts and the steak I had was very disappointing. There were parts of the filet that were too tough for me to eat, although the steak temperature was cooked properly. We had ordered a nice bottle of wine with dinner and was not impressed as they opened not table side as I would have expected. Our server was very pleasant, however she did knock over my wine glass on the table which went everywhere including on my date. She was quick to apologize and attempt to clean the table. Unfortunately nobody bothered to ask if the wine spilt on her. She was wearing black so it was unrecognizable but it did splash all over her. We didn’t say anything, because what can u do at this point. The table was cleaned to the point where the major red stains were covered but remanence of wine remained on my water glass as well as dotted all over the table. I would have expected that the table be completely cleaned properly. The manager did stop by and apologize. During our desert they did bring us 2 glasses of port wine on the House, however we are not fans of port and left them on the table. All in all we were not impressed by the total experience. Plenty of other options for a nice dinner next time.
We have eaten here numerous times. I think it is the best steak restaurant in town. The Galleria location is equally great but this location, the noise level is not as loud. I like that they keep in their computer any food allergies and things we like. Pappas's level of service and quality is unique in the restaurant business. For good steaks and fish you can't go wrong at Pappas Steakhouse.
Philip, our waiter, was a great waiter who accepted our requests (and last minute changes to our order) with the polish of a true professional. We split the 14 oz. Australian lobster tail and it was delicious and the perfect amount considering the sides of asparagus and mashed potatoes, let alone the appetizers we had. the wine sommelier was very knowledgeable and recommended a reasonably priced sweet side Riesling that my wife wanted with our meal. All in all, a good time was had by all!
Excellent service and food!
Always reliably excellent...food, service, ambiance.
Wonderful service, excellent meal! The soup of the day was Shrimp Bisque and it was perfection!
My Husband had the Turtle Gumbo and said it was the best he has had anywhere.
Our steaks we both prepared exactly how we like.
Great food with great service
We were in town for hospital visit. Oncologist recommended Pappas, the turtle soup was a first & 👍.
This was an aniversary dinner. The hostess recognized this as an anniversary dinner, as did the person that seated us - our waiter did not know. Meal was OK - certainly not exceptional. We were fortunate to be in a relatively quiet corner of the restaurant - I think we would have walked out if we were in the main area. Service was also OK - we needed to ask if there would be any anniversary desert... Lots of other steakhouses - not sure I'll be back here
My wife and I could not have picked a better place to dine before the Ed Sheeran concert. Great app (shrimp romelade) and GREAT steak (10 oz filet).
First Class as always. Steak was perfect. Would go back tonight if I could.
Prime filet was outstanding! Excellent wine selection and service as well.
Great food but terrible acoustics. Way too loud!
Good steak. Delicious cocktails. Good service. Pricey but good choice for a special occasion.
An expensive date, but worth it. Food and ambience was excellent. Had the Tomahawk steak. Went here before a play at the Hobby Center. Should have allowed more time for our meal than we did, but that was our fault. Our server was very helpful in getting the kitchen to expedite our order. Definitely a place to take that special person for a special occasion.
We were there for my son's birthday. We started with the bacon wrapped scallops - oh my! Then the turtle gumbo - seasoned to perfection. The fillets were the best we have ever tasted. The crab mac and cheese was incredible. Sadly, no room for dessert, but they looked delicious. Would definitely return and highly recommend.
Service was great. Food incredible as always. Great wine selection.
One of the absolute best restaurants in Houston, no matter if it’s Westheimer or Downtown, sayin food was amazing it’s an understatement and top notch service like you were somewhere else but not the U.S.
The food here was good, as was the service. Our problem, however, was that they rushed us out of there like we were dining at O’Charley’s. I understand that table turnover is how restaurants make money, but when you spend over $300 for dinner for two people, you want to actually enjoy an evening out and have a conversation over a bottle of wine. If you want a great meal and want to be in and out in an hour, this is the place for you. If you want a leisurely dinner, go elsewhere.
Food over salted. Sommelier opens wine away from your table and then quaffs a taste. The restaurant must stop this execrable routine.
Just a great meal. Great atmosphere. Best of All, the staff is incredible.
The across the board price increase on every item on the menu is unfortunate. Too many great steakhouses in Houston to justify that increase.
Fabulous dining. Definitely top rated and first class. Excellent service. Most delicious steaks and sides. Amazing wines and cocktails. First option for dining out‼️
If you can only have 1 meal while you're in town, this is the place to go. Pappas Bros is firing on all cylinders. I loved everything about this place... the atmosphere, the food, the wines, the service. All restaurateurs should be required to dine here... and aim to capture some of the brilliance that is on display.
Many types of seating options... sit in the bar, in the dining room, at the food bar in front of the kitchen... there's also a private room off the main room. The atmosphere is great... polished, high end but comfortable.
The wine list is one of the best in town... very impressive... full of gems, especially if you have money to burn. There are some affordable choices as well. The sommelier, Brandon Kerne, is awesome... he will guide you appropriately. Excellent wines by the glass.
I started with crab cakes... amazing... served piping hot, full of solid chunks of lump crab meat. My Prime NY Strip... a thing of beauty, perfectly cooked and amazing quality. Excellent mashed potatoes... sides are humongous. I saw an order of onion rings go by... giant things piled high... only if I could have just one.
Desserts are insanely great. They bring a cart by the table to tempt you. I can't think how anyone could refuse some of these treats... they all look unbelievable. As a cheesecake fan, i had to try theirs. Wow! It's about 6 inches high, amazing graham cracker crust... flanked with pieces of vanilla chocolate... with a vanilla sauce. Enough for 4 people, esp. after a big meal. After a satisfying amount, the rest went back with me to the hotel room fridge... it was my lunch the next day.
I was guided through this tour de force by my waitress, Patricia, who provided amazing service... friendly, knowledgeable, and professional... all about pleasing the guest. Management is very present, insuring that all is going smoothly. The GM, Alan, stops by every table to check in with guests... a seasoned professional.
We waited for 50 minuted after our reservation timing. Despite the waiting, service was very slow and poor.
The food was delicious as expected. Our waiter was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be coming back.
The steak was tough and out of character for Pappas Bros. and service was pleasant but the server picked up my plate with almost an entire crab claw left when I went to the bathroom.
Food and service is excellent. Unfortunately it was so loud it was not ideal for a relaxing meal and conversation with guests.
The absolute BEST steakhouse in Houston! I make it a point to go every time I’m in town. Everything about it is great
The atmosphere was a little loud for celebrating an anniversary. The food was fantastic, but comparable to steakhouses closer to is. I’m glad we tried it.
One of the best steaks that I have ever had. Service was excellent.
Everything was great as always. Only went downtown because the Westheimer location was booked. But, I'm glad I did because I liked the ambience and atmosphere better downtown. Our server, Devon, was great and even comped our desserts for us because it was our anniversary. Will definitely return.
Too loud, can't hear conversations; steak was OK but worth the price
Great food, very opulent setting. Definitely recommend.
Best steakhouse in HTX
Steven was great, very knowledgeable, and helpful.
Always a stop when in town!!
Probably the best steak dinner I have had in Houston. Lily. Our waitress, was a pleasure.
