Great midtown bistro. However when we got there it was closed even though we had a reservation.
NOT OPEN !!!!!! You took our reservation , even confirmed . But closed on holiday weekend !!!!!!!! Open table needs to check this !!!! We had to wander around looking for anything available !!!!!
We made reservations at the restaurant and when we showed up, it was closed. Totally unacceptable.
The restaurant was closed. We showed up and it was dark. I was never notified or anything from the restaurant or from open table
The Christmas decorations were spectacular and the drinks were tasty. However, the service was horrific. It took forever to flag down a server to order. My food came incorrectly twice (and was still incorrect when it came out the third time, but I decided it was not worth the hassle anymore). The staff was completely unapologetic and slow to get out my corrected dish. Overall, not worth it.
Great experience and will definitely be back. The service was fantastic. Can’t say much for the food as we were only there for a few drinks. All in all was a great spot for a cozy and quiet few glasses of wine.
I had a nice, relaxed dinner at Papillon. I sat in the bar area downstairs, as they're not serving in the main dining room right now. It was still very nice. I had the kale salad to start and then the roasted salmon with mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious. They're not serving desserts right now - so I plan to go back in the future so that I can try that, as well. Very good service and most reasonable prices for the area.
Food was good, pleasant ambiance.
All good as usual!
We walked in for our reservation at 715 and there were only a few people drinking at the bar and 2 tables taken. We stood at the front desk for 10 minutes and not a single person came up to us. 3 separate workers walked by made eye contact and then kept walking and did not return. We ended up walking out due to not being attended to.
The whole experience was very disappointing. My husband ordered fist and chips and got one medium-sized piece and one very small piece of fish with lots of french fries for $25 -- definitely NOT worth the price. I ordered the Pesto grilled chicken sandwich, and the pesto was almost non-existent. The noise level was almost deafening (we asked to be seated as far from the music as possible so we could have a conversation), and our server, although friendly, never checked to see if we needed anything or if everything was ok. Not an experience we will repeat.
Lively place with a nice vibe. Dining room upstairs was rather empty so less energy than the downstairs bar, but a private party at the bar upstairs created a lively "feel". Food was pretty bad. Burger was nothing to rave about but the short rib sandwich was awful! Service was friendly and attentive. For the prices, the wine pours were extremely stingy and the martinis barely reached the 3/4 way up the glass (those awful round stemmed glasses all the "trendy" spots think are so cool. How about a REAL martini glass? And fill it to the rim!) Not inexpensive. Burger, short rib sandwich, 3 wines and 2 martinis came to $150!! Obviously this was due to crazy prices for wine and booze since the burger and sandwich were both under $20 each! Certainly wouldn't rush back.
What a beautiful and authentically French Bistro. We will return!
Been to Papillion a few times for drinks and also recently for lunch. I really like the vibe as it has a great bar area on the main floor as well as another bar upstairs. The food is always great and the service is tops. The waitresses are all extremely friendly. Tons of beers on taps and also a fantastic brunch menu. As there are not many choices around mid-town east, Papillion is the best!
Saturday night they have live opera night and it was so entertaining! We really enjoyed ourselves, great crowd
Food is mediocre, so many better options in NYC
This place is a bar. We were looking for a brunch location near our hotel. Thought from the rating and name it would be more like a French bistro. Its a BAR. From the time we walked in the smell of stale beer from the night before prevailed. No one else was in the place at 10:30 AM. Only a drunk walked in for a double and was loud and obnoxious nearby at the bar. My wife does not drink alcohol and my daughter celebrating her 23 birthday will have an occasional drink. The waitress said we had to order the fix price brunch which included a mimosa, Bloody Mary beer or wine. She said no way around it. Only thing she offered was a side salad w/o the alcohol requirement. (For breakfast?!) We should have left at that point but we already ordered coffee. The ordered was ok, nothing outstanding. The requirement and inflexibility about the liquor was appalling. This not a place for brunch, a drink yes. First time that Open Table has let me down.
My girlfriend and I had breakfast/brunch there on 01/26. It was great. Place wasn't busy, service was excellent. Very tasty. We'd absolutely go back.
The dirtiest restaurant EVER!
While the food was good, the restaurant was freezing cold. First they sat us next to the windows, which was completely uncomfortable. But even after we were moved a few tables away from the windows it still required us to eat in our coats. Ruined the meal for us. The people sitting next to us also complained about it being way too cold and were moved. It’s a major problem eating in this place in the winter.
Was a pleasant experience, good service and good food.
Great after work meet up for friends. Drinks and food very good. Staff was pleasant and professional. It was a Thursday after work so on the noisy side.
Fun atmosphere, attentive staff.
Nice space and excellent roast chicken, though it came with no vegetables? Like last time?
Everything was nice until the large loud group of mommies and me were seated right next to us, the ONLY other diners in the room that morning.
Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Fun brunch with family for our annual girls NYC day trip. Good value and food
Love this restaurant! Decorated for the holiday and gave a warm cozy feeling. Food and service were excellent! Can’t wait to go back and sit at the gorgeous bar!
The food was great, prices very reasonable and the service was excellent.
Tbis is the second time and loved it so muvj, toom my mom so she could enjoy it. Highly recommend for special occasions or you want to experience something different, witb almost personal touch.
What a great find in NYC. Very prompt sitting, attentive service, beautifully cooked food and amazing atmosphere. We visited in December, and the place looked so Christmassy! We will be recommending to friends. Thank you!
Team lunch had a great time although it was freezing by the window (27 degrees out so probs not easy to deal)
Its an OK maybe a bit fancier Irish bar feel. Very nicely decorated and good food. I ordered the Branzino and was dry, but appetizers were good.
Festive ambiance for the Christmas holiday season. Pleasant staff serving tasty food. Who could ask for anything more?
Annual friend gathering
Our server was so bad it took 25 minutes and 3 follow-ups to get our drinks. 2 groups of people at another of her tables left from being ignored. Another server covered and we tipped her separately. I wish I knew the names.
Everything was fine server was completely inadequate maybe it was her first day. My friend and i asked for water multiple times between drinks and she brought a drink menu instead.
The food was great for the price, the service was pretty terrible. The hostess acted like we weren't even there, I had to approach her after standing there for 5 minutes... A waiter spilled ketchup all over my jacket and didn't even notice.
What a perfect place for a Christmas brunch! The decorations were incredible, the food was great and the staff was attentive. The only thing we would have asked for was for the music to be a little less loud given the size of the space/the number of other parties dining. Will definitely visit again.
Wonderful!!
Food was ok though nothing spectacular. Not a place you’d think “let’s go there I have a craving for X”. Plain.
Well to start, we were seated by the bar which was extremely loud. We could barely hear the waiter asking us about orders and such. The food was only okay and they messed up my sister’s order. Overpriced for the quality of the food. Our waiter was perfectly nice and attend to us well. Overall would not come back or recommend.
