We were the only ones there because of the covid-19 shut down about to happen, but the food, drinks and service were still amazing. As always. One of my favorite places in the city.
I had a fantastic lunch at Papatzul. The beet salad, enchiladas verdes and churros were all delicious. The service was very good and the prices extremely low for the area. A great choice for Mexican food in downtown NYC.
Truly wonderful food at any excellent price! We went back twice during a 6 day trip to NYC.
We all really enjoyed dining here all around a great experience, we had a mixed group of dietary restrictions and everyone really enjoyed their meals and drinks regardless of being GF, Vegetarian and Dairy free.
The watermelon margarita during happy hour is the best. I like the tacos too, but only wish they would turn down the volume of the music. It's a busy place too so I generally try to order as soon as I can or 5 minutes before I would somewhere else.
We got a large reservation for a diverse group on short notice and these folks did so much to accommodate us. Really wonderful services staff, delicious food, great ambiance. Can't recommend this place highly enough after how well they took care of us. Thank you Papatzul!
What a pleasant surprise. I have to say the food was very good. The place is small and this night, also crowded. The drinks were flowing. We mostly drank margaritas which were priced right and were delightful and refreshing. But the food was the star here. The guacamole was fresh and tasty that alone gets 5 stars. We were 6 women and we enjoyed everything they brought out - delicious.
Was very disappointed by the place. It was my friend’s birthday and I was uncomfortable taking her there. The place seems to be falling apart. The seats were very uncomfortable, it’s was freezing and when it started raining there was water falling in our heads. The food was good but the service terrible. We had to stand up and go to the front a couple of times to get somebody.
We enjoyed our dinner and drinks. Food was excellent and margaritas were great. We didn’t know beforehand that happy hour was from 5-8 and you could drink either at the bar or the table. nice surprise. We went on a Friday night and it was packed. Noise level is high but that wouldn’t stop us from going back for this authentic food!
Went to celebrate a birthday and it was great. Outstanding Mexican foods, great drinks and quiet enough to have a conversation.
Food was great but the restaurant was definitely too noisy!
The entrees should be avoided - food was inedible. We ordered the enchiladas and the fajitas. The enchiladas sauce tasted like italian tomato sauce. The fajitas had very little meat (rough and overcooked) included, but was mostly covered in cheese. I would not return again for a meal.
With that said, it would be a great place for a drink and guacamole/chips. Guacamole was delicious. The atmosphere is fun, but not too rowdy. Just avoid making this place a destination for a full meal.
How does a restaurant this bad stay open?
The waitress didn’t even come over for fifteen minutes and it went down hill from there. I’d provide more details about how bad this place is, but it would be beside the point.
The thing to know is that it is awful and that you should go to any one of the better nearby Mexican places instead.
I’m still amazed out how simply bad this restaurant is. I’m almost embarrassed not to have walked out.
The food and margaritas were delicious. The servers were very kind and helpful. Definitely a go to!
Very slow service, but strong drinks and good food. Chips and guacamole are really overpriced for the serving but the entrees were tasty.
Fuimos a ver un partido de Fútbol, la comida deliciosa, las margaritas increíbles y en happy hour aún mejor!
A great authentic Mexican gem! Nothing fancy about the interior but definitely good food.
I love it, food and drinks were amazing, took a bit of time but totally worth it!
It was great!
The service was very slow, they didn't bring food fast, nor did the drink have enough waitresses apparently and the tables were full of the attention that was lousy.
Overall a wonderful experience and the staff was so attentive and just fun! Food was deelish!!
Really loud, made for children. Tight seating, really nice staff
I’ve been there only once and had enchiladas with red sangria. I absolutely loved it and had a good time. Its staff were kind and nice too :)
Not the best, they didn’t have a normal brunch menu for Cinco de Mayo brunch. Tried it
One of our favorite Mexican restaurants! Great energetic vibes, a little loud at times but that can't be helped. People are having fun! Great HH and excellent food. Friendly service.
After being seated we waited 15 minutes before someone took our drink order. Food was good, drinks were great, everyday happy hour. Guac was also really good but a little pricey for the amount. Overall we would definitely go back.
Excellent food and service - a bit loud, but we went on a Friday night. Overall great value!
The food was great!!! Really enjoyed dinner
The margaritas were very weak! The service also wasn’t that great!
The noise level is very high and it took a while to get a waiter because it was so crowded. My friend wanted red wine but they were out of it. I ordered a recommended dish (vegan) but then the waiter returned and apologetically told me they were out of it. He recommended something else but it was rather bland, even with hot sauce.
The waiters were very nice and the place is very cute but it wasn’t a place I would go back to.
It was super cold in the restaurant, would recommend they figure their heating system out as it was very uncomfortable and we couldn't really enjoy our lunch.
This was such a fun atmosphere. The food was good and the drinks were good. I highly recommend for casual drinks after work.
Ambience, food and drinks were great but only one server for a full restaurant made the experience less enjoyable. The server was doing an amazing job trying to keep up. Still we would have consumed a lot more if there had been more service people available.
It was a business dinner. So, there were a lot of complaints from the hungry guests. The wait was just too long especially for drinks (bar keeper was backed up as well).
The service was very good and attentive. Plus the value of food was really good and inexpensive.
Consistently good Mexican food at a good price point. Friendly, professional service. Last of its kind in Soho.
They did not acknowledge the reservation even though they had empty seats
This review is for a Saturday dinner reservation for two. Place is decently decorated but somehow the acoustics make it very noisy and impossible to have a conversation. Food is good but they’re overdoing it on mayonnaise (fish tacos) and sauce/gravy (enchilada).. waiters are friendly and drinks are decent. Crowd is a bit loud and obnoxious. Not sure we’ll be back.
We had a fun time at the restaurant. The happy hour was awesome, but the staff was a bit understaffed when we were there. Overall good time though.
Great food and margaritas. Loved the guacamole. Great service too
My first time there and I thought the food was good. The place was very noisy when we arrived but a large table of people left midway through our meal and it mellowed out a little. I'm a vegetarian and there were a few options but not as many as I would have liked. The food was tasty and fresh and the service was good.
