Papa Razzi - Boston Ratings and Reviews
PapaRazzi is our favorite restaurant in Boston. Our meals on Friday night were excellent, as usual ( pollo piccata, spaghetti vongole, rigatoni con lugenaga, penne al pomodoro). Service was a bit off that night, with fairly long gaps in between ordering drinks and receiving them, even though was not very busy when we got there. I still would highly recommend.
MIxed review. Pasta dishes are good. Meat dishes not so much. We had an excellent waiter who went out of his way to please. The wines by the glass are priced too high proportionate to the food prices: $19 for a measured 6 oz. glass. Over $100 total for an everyday dinner (2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine, 1 salad.) If you want more locals like us, it's got to be a better value.
This used to be a great restaurant with the best Caesar salads ANYWHERE... I used to eat there once or twice a week, for years. Unfortunately, those days are gone. I went there now that it's cooled off, since I know they've had the air conditioner broken off and on this summer. I was so looking forward to a great Caesar salad there but it was soggy and not very tasty... I think maybe it waited a long time before they served it (the waitress was swamped and not very available so maybe too few waitstaff for the customers). Some of the wines weren't very good--which I wonder if could be due to the A/C being broken... I mentioned it to the manager when she came over to inquire how everything was but, when I mentioned that, she was quick to dismiss herself. It was as if she was "supposed" to visit the customers but really didn't want any real feedback. I miss the good ol' days of Charlie Sarkis running Papa Razzi as something to be proud of!
This is good southern Italian food. The basics are very good even for a Jersey-Italian snob like myself. The pastas are cooked to perfection, the parms are giant and the apps are delicious. Noise level is not good and the service could be better. Notwithstanding, we visit every time we come to Boston.
It was attentive but slow service -- we were there 1.5 hours even though we didn't have cocktails or dessert (although we did have an appetizer). I think other people were happy with their food but my margherita pizza was not very good. It IS a nice location on Newbury Street. Large portions.
Samantha was an incredible server and she had an incredible attention to detail, my wife and children thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience with her. As well, the food was excellent and the gluten free menu provided my daughter with a great meal! One of he highlights of our dining in Boston by far!
This was our first time at a Papa Razzi and we were disappointed. The location was chosen due to its proximity to the Weston Copley Plaza where we were meeting our niece. We arrived and were seated promptly but before we settled were asked if we were ready to order. We asked for a couple of minutes to review the menus. After just a couple of minutes our server was back and we ordered a bottle of wine but she took off before asking if wanted anything else. She returned and we completed our drink order and again asked for a couple of minutes to review the menu. This is the pattern throughout out stay, we felt as if we were being rushed out the door. This happened when the restaurant was being renovated and was not busy with plenty of open tables. Their version of bruschetta was terrible, a chunk of bread swimming in a sauce of tomato and mozzarella juice. The Rollitini was bland and Veal Parm tasteless. The special seafood linguine was good according to our niece. Overall, not what I expected from the feedback I have had from friends.
Dined here after a day of shopping on Newbury Street. The exterior is being renovated so the windows were covered. The interior was nice except for fruit flies at our table. The food was good and the portions were generous. Service was marginal bordering on poor. Our server went missing for extended periods of time.
The food here was fantastic. We each ordered a delicious caesar salad and entree. Both of us took half home, and I can say my roasted chicken was just as good the next day. We shared a tiramisu for dessert and it was divine. Absolutely great value for the price, awesome service.
Merci Miguel.
The Best Calamari app I have EVER had! Our server, Robert, was personable and informative. We are still a bit delirious from having great food experiences on Newbury Street and Cape Cod... and it was weeks ago. There is some renovation on the exterior - don't let that discourage you but I strongly encourage reservations. There was a queue waiting for a table when we arrived. We were seated promptly in a spacious booth for the 5 adults - and table space for normal size plates of food! We were not at all rushed (to 'turn the table'). Memorable for the food, atmosphere, and a joyous gathering of friends!
