Papa Razzi - Boston Ratings and Reviews
We had a wonderful family experience at Paparazzi. The service was stellar and everyone was pleasant and welcoming even though the place was packed! We asked the staff to help deliver a special holiday message to our son and they jumped right in with the surprise. Highly recommend the food as well. We sat close to the window into the kitchen and it was clean and humming along. Overall a five star experience.
Went there for dinner with my sister. The wait staff seated us within a few minutes of our reservation. The restaurant was packed. The waitstaff was friendly and the ambiance was nice. The food was okay. Nothing stellar. It had a decent menu but the food we got lacked the flavor I was used to. For the money, I wouldn’t go back, there are much better choices in the area.
Papa Razzi is one of my favorite eateries on Newbury Street. Classy yet affordable, this restaurant has a modern Italian menu that rivals some of the most notable restaurants in Boston's North End. The atmosphere is great for a casual conversation while the wait staff is friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend Papa Razzi for everyday dining as well as special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.
I had noted on my reservation my purpose was to arrive 15 minutes before my date to have some flowers waiting in his seat at the table. They booked us in a private cozy curved booth for two, and two waitresses gushed about the flowers to him. Even though we wouldn't expect any mal-treatment towards a gay couple in progressive Boston; it was still very nice to receive their compliments. The cocktails and wine were tasty, meal was good, dessert was excellent. Overall a beautiful date night! Will certainly be back!
The restaurant was definitely acceptable until the bill arrived. I was charged $3.50 for a teabag and hot water. I knew the price when I ordered the tea, but actually thought at this price, a pot of tea would have been offered. When the server asked if I wanted a 2nd cup I said yes. When I got the bill, I was charged $7 for 2 cups of tea --2 teabags and hot water. I did question this and was told another cup was used and then had to be washed, and, well, sorry about that. I felt this was really bad business marketing (we're a group of women who meet monthly), and it left me with a bad taste, (sorry), and questioning returning to this restaurant.
Average italian. Nothing special or notable about it. I was hoping it would taste better based on the reviews. I would recommend this place to anyone taking their grandparents out to dinner. In my experience, older diners like blander food that meets expectations and offers no surprises. This is that kind of traditional italian fare.
Very poor service. Server was in a bad mood, not interested. Became friendly at the very end and helpful when we were about to sign the bill, expecting a tip.
We had noticed that the service at the property was getting worse, but this time it was the worst. Will probably not come back to write you a long time.
We loved our experience at Pappa Razzi Tonight. Service was outstanding and food excellent!! Beautiful area of town. So easy to walk to from our hotel. Everything from salad to main course was amazing. My husband had gluten free pizza. It was the best ever! You honestly could not tell the difference, or should I say taste the difference.
Nice, homey atmosphere. Comfortable seating. Pleasant waiter. Food wasn’t anything special. Pasta was done properly, but no one loved it. My veal piccata tasted fine, but the meat was tough and difficult to chew. The salads were good. We had an ok bottle of wine. I guess for an everyday dining experience, everything was ok. Price was reasonable because we were there on a Monday. Don’t know that we’ll go back when there are so many Italian restaurants in Boston to try.
A nice, reasonably priced meal with a great Back Bay vibe. We all stuck with pasta and risotto dishes and were very happy overall. I wouldn't say that any of the dishes were particularly noteworthy, but they didn't disappoint. Great outdoor space. Had the weather been a bit warmer, we would have been happy to sit outside. Nonetheless, our table inside the restaurant was perfect. It's a great place to take a hungry college student during Parents' Weekend!
The Chef at this place can cook! Our dishes all had excellent sauces, and the food was freshly prepared. Reception was a little chaotic (Saturday night), and service at the bar and at the table was good, but not what I'd call charming. All in all, I'd return for the food!
We went on a Monday, when they had some amazing specials! I think every entree was only $16, and if you got an appetizer with an entree, that was only an additional $8. Such an amazing deal! If I lived in Boston, I'd go there almost every Monday. I had spectacularly good filet mignon for $16...wow! All the food was delicious, and the service was wonderful. I liked sitting in one of the booths on the 2nd floor...great for people watching!
We'd had a heavy lunch that day, so we decided to go light on dinner. We ordered two salads (about $12 each) and an appetizer to share. As we weren't spending too much, the staff decided it was okay to pretty much ignore us. No water until we asked for it from a passing staff person, passed off to another waitress, no asking how things were, no clearing of finished dishes, and a very long time to give us the check. And the place wasn't even busy. I don't need much attention, but getting zero is not what I expect.
The food very blah. There were 4 of us and we all had different meals and no one liked it. Also one of us had plastic wrap in our salad and even they were just thrown together. I guess turning the table is more desired by ownership than pleasing the customer.
Our server though was attentive.
