Papa Razzi - Boston
Food was excellent. The Aperol Spritzers were a major disappointment having had them in Italy and other restaurants locally. Service was mediocre. The lights were dimmed at 3:00 which made no sense and left us in a very dimly lit dining area.
Pre-theater meal. Host and server noted and accommodated our showtime. Excellent meal, service and ambiance.
Carb load for Boston half marathon. The best!
Thank you for honoring my table request! Great food!
Our waiter Noel was terrific!!!
We will miss you next summer.
Noel is great! We will pass along your compliments. Glad you enjoyed.
Amazing food and fast service! Highly recommend !
Thank you and we appreciate the recommendation.
Excellent service, food...just overly bright lighting.
Thank you and we are glad you enjoyed. We appreciate your feedback on the lighting too - we are always trying to best keep the ambiance of our restaurant enjoyable for all. Your feedback helps.
Went on a Sunday night, and chose Papa Razzi based on another review regarding the restaurant's favorable treatment of allergy customers. My son has a severe shellfish allergy, and while the server was attentive and noted his allergy, I did not feel like there was the same level of "special treatment" the other Yelp customer had, but there were no issues. The restaurant was busy but not crowded at 8 p.m. Sunday night, and the service was very good. The server provided a rustic country bread with hot olive oil, which upon asking, we were told was just oil and chile flakes. My son loved the heat of the oil with the bread and put some of it over his order of bruschetta. The bruschetta was fantastic - fresh tomatoes and mozzarella boccinni tossed with balsamic vinagrette and drizzled with pesto, served over that rustic country bread that did not get mushy because of it's texture. The serving was fairly large, more than enough for 2 people. My son ordered a spicy pizza with soppressata and salami, and he really enjoyed it. I ordered the Spaghetti ala Bolongnese, which was perfectly cooked and sauced. There were layers of flavor to the meat and sauce, and the pasta was al dente as I like it. My son and I both observed that the meal reminded us of our trip to Rome last year, which is high praise for an Italian restaurant in the US! The ambience was more upscale (as would be expected on Newbury Street) than the North End, and the outdoor seating, bar area and upstairs dining area made the restaurant seem much roomier than you would expect from a Newbury Street restaurant. The outdoor patio had lots of heat lamps, so if you like outdoor dining into the fall, Papa Razzi can take care of you! We definitely would go back again!
Thank you for joining us Karen and we are glad you enjoyed . We do take food allergies seriously and work hard to make sure our guests feel safe and heard. We are very happy to know that you enjoyed your meals too. We appreciate your review and look forward to seeing you both again.
Copley Square has more than its fair share of tourist-besieged bad restaurants, but Papa Razzi manages to rise out of that class. Food is really quite good and the service solid even on a super-busy night.
Thank you KafkaShore! We love our neighborhood and we are proud to be a standout. Hope you can join us again.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Papa Razzi. Nice, crusty bread served with a garlic olive oil let us know that we would be in for a treat. I started with a delicious caprese salad and my husband had a caeser salad. He was very glad that the server gave him the option of anchovies vs no anchovies, as he is not a big anchovy fan. For our entrees, we went pasta all the way! For me to order pasta out at a restaurant means I trust the restaurant implicitly - it's a huge deal for me to order pasta out. I had the spaghetti bolognese and I was delighted with my choice. Hubby had spaghetti with meatballs and loved it. I tried a piece of one of his meatballs and it was divine. They put ground sausage in their meatballs, along with the other ingredients. What a difference it made! I highly recommend Papa Razzi to anyone looking for an amazing Italian restaurant.
Thank you Jery! Very happy to hear you enjoyed it all. We are grateful to have earned your recommendation and appreciate the review. We hope we see you again soon.
This is a "go to" restaurant and bar for the young business set who care more about their social environment than the quality of the food. There is a place for this restaurant for those who love it but on a general scale we found it to be very sub-par on food quality, high quality on service and eager to turn tables quickly for a higher volume of clientele.
Thank you for the feedback Roy. We are grateful for our guests but we have built our reputation by serving exceptional food, so we never like to hear a guest was underwhelmed. We will share your comments with our culinary team as they are always striving to bring the best of tastes and flavor to our tables.
It has been some time since have been to Papa Razzi. My companion (who was with me on my last visit) and I enjoyed the enjoyed the spaghetti Bolognese and the shrimp scampi. Kayla provided us with attentive service and spot on recommendations as we were having trouble making decisions about menu choices. The tasty, authentic pasta and reasonable prices made me come back to Papa Razzi!
Thank you Tom! We are glad you came back to join us and happy you had a great meal. You were in good hands with Kayla and we are glad to know she helped you enjoy your experience. We look forward to your next visit.
Glacially slow service - on a night with few diners. Server kept on coming up to the table and advising that the food is on its way (he did this for an hour)
Veal Saltimbocca was gross out over cooked and the pile of pasta was cooked and re heated - totally tasteless
Salad was expensive - but was tasty.
Would not recommend this place, nor return.
Sorry to hear this Alan. That's not typical for our usual standards of service and quality. We never like to hear that a guest did not enjoy. We would love to hear more and invite you to give Julian Maria, our General Manager, a call at 617-536-9200. Your satisfaction means a lot to us and we would love to learn what we could have done better and offer our personal apology.
Made a reservation and got stuck in a corner by the kitchen while everyone coming in after us were taken upstairs.
Sorry to hear you were disappointed in your seating. We always do our best to make our guests happy and never like to know they were not comfortable.
Good Italian food. Best in Back Bay. Food is very good. Outdoor dining is great. Service is slow. Like other good restaurants they seem to have lost some of their best to Encore.
Thank you Bostonphotobill. It's always a thrill to be called Best in Back Bay. We appreciate your review and look forward to your next visit.
Very good meal and excellent wine. The patio was quite nice as well. Our 4th time here and we are from out of state.
Thank you Diane! We are glad you enjoyed and thank you for joining us when you are in town. We hope you do so again if you are back in Boston again.
A warm atmosphere and service, delicious food, Moscato wine was perfect
Thank you MeralB! Glad you enjoyed. We love a good Moscato too!
My first time at Papa Razzi and I wasn't disappointed! I was recommended this restaurant because I have Celiac Disease and needed somewhere that offered Gluten Free. It's a rare occasion I get to enjoy delicious authentic GF Italian, and Papa Razzi did it right! I ordered the fried mozzarella appetizer and I had Chicken Parmesan for my entree. Both delicious. Even the non-gf friends I was with enjoyed the mozzarella.
I will definitely recommend this restaurant and I will be back!!
Thank you for joining us and glad you enjoyed. Making sure guests with gluten sensitivities can enjoy a delicious meal is important to us. We are happy you enjoyed and look forward to your next visit.
We sat on the patio enjoying the sunshine. Great ambiance, service and food!
It's a great time of year to enjoy the patio! We are glad you did.
The food is always good. I wish they still had an insalata mista on their menu. I wanted a plain salad and they really didn’t have one.
Thank you Italianshopper. We will pass along your feedback to the culinary team. We love listening to our guests to see what we can do to make them happy. Hope we see you again.
Love the food and the service! We will be back. I especially love the Caesar salad! The best in town. The service was impeccable and the ambiance was wonderful too!
Thank you Angela! Glad you enjoy and we love to hear our service is so great. Glad you enjoy the Caesar too - it's always a favorite!
Food was delicious but the service was not great at all.
Happy to hear the food was delicious but we are sorry to hear your service was not equally as good. Exceptional service is what we built our reputation upon. We appreciate the feedback and hope we can exceed your service expectations on your next visit.
Went last year on our trip and everything was great. This year it was very loud and our drinks were horrible.
Sorry to hear that your experience was less than great. Our bar team would have happily replaced your drinks to make sure you were enjoying. We never like to let our guests down, especially our returning guests. If you'd like to discuss more, please give our General Manager Julian Maria a call at 617-536-9200. He'd love to get a better picture of what could have been better.
The food was incredible! We sat outside, but the patio is secluded enough that we could still easily have conversation without having to raise our voices. Service was a bit slow, but it was also very crowded and prime dinner time on a Saturday night. Will definitely be going back !
That's what we love to hear! Glad you enjoyed and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Lively. It was a good time and food was great
Thank you! That's what we love to hear.
Great food and service!!!
Amazing food with a great city vibe.
Food was great service was a little slow for what I’m used to and the noise level was extremely loud I had troubles hearing what the rest of the table was saying.
We love PapaRazzi and eat there on a regular basis. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The menu is varied and the food always delicious. I highly recommend the scampi, rigatoni con lugenaga, and the pollo piccata.
I had a lovely time with out-of-town friends who
Had limited time for a meal. We were served promptly; the food was fresh and tasty and filled the bill in every way. Even though we were outside, it was easy to have a conversation!
Papa Razzi is always good—and at reasonable prices.
Service was both good and lacking. Attitudes were good, the manager came by to check on us. Server was nice but could not fill water glasses well. Glass was full and overflowing and he still kept going, then did not replace the glass so it was hard to move it and drink from it. We didn’t get bread, and creamer for coffee came a long time after the coffee. But otherwise good and food arrived fairly quickly.
Food was mixed. Calamari shrimp fritti was good, my shrimp scampi was tasty but a little too rich. The Caesar salad was very strange.
Great thing is the space. Rare and comfortable for Back Bay!
Belle ambiance, super service, nourritures excellente!
Service and food were very good. We arrived a bit earlier then our reservation however they were able to seat us with no problem. The noise level was a little lively due to a large group celebrating a birthday however that by no means is a negative. Overall I would recommend to a friend and return again. It was also very centrally located and convenient to our hotel.
The outdoor hostess was friendly and got us seated on the patio. The waitress was not great. Didn’t even tell us her name and just rambled off specials. Lacking personality and a warm welcoming feeling. The charming outdoor patio made up for it! Bruschetta was delicious. Penne arrabiatta and eggplant parmigiana were good. Nothing exceptional but good for everyday dining. Visit the inside bar for great drinks and a friendly bartender! We had a dirty martini and blood orange martini that were fantastic!
Great patio and wonderful menu. Went for lunch and had to go back for dinner because too many good things to try.
Overall experience was good. They either forgot to make our pizza or just missed it on the ticket. They ended up not charging us for the pizza. Unfortunately those types of things affect their overall score.
