Papa Joe's/Iacomini's Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed. Always thought this was a very good restaurant but our service wasn't great - 2 meals out of 6 were brought out wrong, pasta side was not seasoned, no butter or sour cream brought with the baked potato, ran out of bread and had to ask for appetizer plates and silverware. For the prices charged, this should have been a much better experience. Don't plan to go back.
Perfect holiday ambience ~ lively, colorful. Great food, great cocktails, nice seating. Service, excellent! All in all, made for a perfect beginning to the Christmas weekend. We decided the night we were there that Papa Joe’s would become a new tradition. We’ll be back when family’s next in town!
The place was very busy and energetic. The parking lot was packed to the brim. We were a party of 4 that had 6:00 Clock reservations. We walked in at 5:50pm, and were taken straight to our table (despite a bunch of people waiting around for a table).
Shrimp cocktail was great! The shrimp were gigantic and the cocktail sauce was fresh and on point. The rest of the food was great as well, and everyone at the table left happy and satisfied.
I've lived in the Akron area my whole life, and never stumbled upon this place, until now.
We'll be back.
Not happy with this lunch. Expect WAY more. Been dining here since opened and in Akron before that. Chicken salad tasteless and two of four people dining ordered it. Bread that was not toasted was quite stale and hard. Reuben very good but tiny compared to what it used to be. Meatball sub great. Wedding soup good. Chicken soup not so good. Homemade potato chips not salted and many were limp. Waitress very good. Few customers in restaurant as was an early lunch. Disappointing.
Mixed bag! It was a weekend evening, so busy can be expected. Really loud, too loud. I had the strip steak, very good. Wife had prime rib, not good. I had Fettuccini Alfredo for side not very good especially for an Italian restaurant. Dessert was good but not a great selection.
Thrilled our reservation was ready when we arrived despite the number of people waiting for a table. Appreciated that our request for a booth was also honored. Thought I had left my gloves in the booth. My call was handled by several people in a very swift and professional manner. Their youthful unruffled response was remarkable considering how busy they all were with the holiday rush.
The my experiences at Papa Joe's have always been great and this was no exception. The hostess was superb. Very friendly and bubbly. Out waitress was just as friendly and welcoming. She had brought a drink and appetizer that I had pre-ordered to our table quickly after being seated. It was a great way to spend time together as a couple on our anniversary.
My wife and two long-standing friends were looking for a place that was not a ‘chain’ and served traditional Italian-American food. After searching through the reviews of local restaurants within 30 miles, I found Papa John’s the reviews were excellent and the reservation process simple.
When we arrived for the first time, at a very busy time, we were welcomed and shown to our table without missing a beat.
The rest of the evening proceeded in the same vein. We were not rushed. The appetizers and wine were excellent and we ordered and ate our main courses at a leisurely pace.
We all enjoyed our choices. And, we are discerning, if not picky about well prepared food with fresh ingredients. And, my wife’s Petit Prime Rib was excellently prepared and was generously sized. More like petite in a land of giants.
I opted for Lasagna and sausage. Both passed with flying colors.
Looking forward to our next visit.
After making a reservation, I still waited 30 mins to be seated (there were several other complaints as well). After being seated we waited another 10 mins or so for a waitress. I thought she would just take the drink but once we gave her the drink order she expectantly looks at us as if that’s all we’re ordering. Feeling rushed my wife & I shared the large prime rib special. The prime rib was good, but over half of it was fat & unetible. I’m also pretty sure the waitress didn’t say more than five words to us at a time.. the most she said was “is that all?” before handing us the bill. We watched her talk to other customers & tell them her name & be conversational but we experienced none of that. We won’t be back.
All in all, there was more food than we could eat which neans there are leftovers for the next day.
I would say the salad was above average, lasagna was average and the cannoli dessert, eh.
Their wine list includes a long list of Orin Swift wines at a remarkable price. Prisoner at less than $49 is a bargain. That alone is a good reason to have dinner at Papa Joes!
