About
The bustling ristorante has become a corner fixture in this centuries old melting pot amongst politicians, travelers, shoppers and students.
Dine outside and watch the world go by, or sit inside and watch your pizza being prepared in our fabulous brick oven, and most of all - enjoy! Located in the heart of Georgetown, Paolo's serves fine Cal-Italian cuisine full of exciting pizzas and exquisite pastas.
It would have been nice if we were not closed for remodeling. I would’ve thought the OpenTable would be aware of this. In any event we went all that way for nothing.
8/23/2018.
This restaurant is closed/out of business. I went there with my family on August 24 and had to find somewhere else to eat.
There was a piece of hair in out pizza.
Ate outside on a very hot day. Was just what we were looking for. Had a light mozzarella and tomato salad which was as perfect for a hot day. Husband has gnocchi and son had a huge piece of salmon. Both good. Good solid gGeorgetown favorite.
Had a lovely time -- very good service and the steak salad is terrific. Will be back
The restaurant was empty at 7pm yet the service was slow and inattentive.
Our salads came out with the meal even though we specifically asked for them to be first.
Our water glasses were rarely refilled.
The food was workmanlike though oily.
To be fair... the bread was quite good.
We didn’t see a server after our meal was served and had to go find someone to ask for a check.
Overall... a disappointing experience at a place we had heard good things about.
Meh. Okay service and decent pizza. Nothing special and very overpriced. That’s Georgetown I guess.
The service was wonderful and the food was amazing! We had a great rep with our waitress. The seafood was well cooked and didn’t taste fishy or anything like that.
We don’t know what happened to Paolo’s? I Made a reservation prior to arriving, and the manager looked at the screen and said, “it’s not supposed to do that”. It was odd. Like he was surprised and disappointed we were there?
Paolo's was always a go to place for me. Shame on me for not trying it in recent years. Something happened. The quality of the food is barley passable. The place looks dirty and very down on its heels. Even the menus are so old the lettering is wiped off in some places. Very strange. I will not be going back.
Great time, family was in town and it was very nice atmosphere.
Good food; arrived at 3pm after going to the movies so it was nice to get a meal at an odd hour.
Great! Fortunate to have the place almost to ourselves for my Georgetown graduation!
As always, Paolo's Ristorante was a great place to meet with colleagues. The food is always good and the menu inventive (both traditional and fusion-style) Italian.
Horrible, worst service in years. Server was so aloof that we thought she was on drugs. In fact she was so out of touch that we had to ask if she was ok?
Food was as bland that I’ve ever encountered at an Italian restaurant. I think they forgot to use any seasoning. Had to cancel mushroom appetizer because it was inedible.
Delicious!! Patio dining is A must.
The food was fine, but nothing special. I wouldn't have minded that, but the service was pretty awful. Our waitress basically spent a good bit of the time complaining about how tired she was. Clearly she was overworked, and I feel bad for her, but I didn't go to a restaurant to be complained at.
Kia is a great server. Big fan. The food is above average Italian. Had branzino one night and chicken parm another. I'd definitely recommend both and get them both again as well. As far as apps go, the meatballs and calamari were also good. Creme brulee was just so so but it's creme brulee so it's still good. Haha! Music at dinner time tonight was the only "issue" we had. Loud club music is completely unnecessary before 10 pm but especially during dinner.
Such a terrible experience! Service was slow - and server not terribly apologetic. Food was just as bad - cold frittata, over cooked eggs (for eggs benedict) and over cooked steak (steak & eggs). The only bright spot in an otherwise completely disappointing experience (& the only reason for one star) was the fantastic bar tender - who served us while we were waiting to be seated!
The food and service were both great! The filet mignon was cooked perfect to temperature and deliciously seasoned. The waitress was friendly and pleasant. We will be back again - a new Georgetown favorite!
Good food, reasonable prices, excellent prompt service. When we asked, the hostess found us a booth that was quiet enough for conversation.
Food was great, waiter was helpful and attentive. Great place to eat
Waiter very attentive
Pizza way I like
Bolognaise tasty
My friend's Cesar salad was brought to the table with a huge bug! They replaced it, but under the circumstances it should have been complimentary. The steak/eggs were over cooked and the server could have been a bit more attentive. It was my friend's 50th birthday celebration, (which was noted on the reservation), so we would have appreciated a bit of special attention.
Especially good lunchtime food, good service
Amazing! Would definitely recommend has vegan vegetarian options
Kind service didn't make up for my meal (scallops) which I found to be too oily and heavy. Pre-dinner salad and bread with olive spread were good, however.
Worst service I’ve ever had. Ever.
Went to Paolo's on a nice night before Easter mass. It wasn't crazy busy, but service was still pretty slow. The food was okay-- not as good as I remembered it being, and a bit messily plated. Overall seemed a bit overpriced for what it was (then again, it's Georgetown, so I guess that's to be expected). The crispy eggplant appetizer is amazing! The chicken pesto pizza is very forgettable.
Team “service” process seemed slow and cumbersome. Food was overall ok but a bit pricey for pasta and salad.
We can always depend on having a great meal at Paolo's. They never disappoint and the service was fantastic as well!
Service was very confused. We were a party of 7 and ordered apps to share. They came to the table with no serving spoons and no additional plates. Then, entrees were brought to table before empty appetizers were cleared.
Finally, our waiter brought a check before we even had a chance to order dessert!
The service people said the requested table area is not available although we have requested in advance. And seating arrangement becomes becomes extremely difficult and makes my guests feel awkward and embarrassed. If new policy or rule issued, please let guest know
Solid long-standing neighborhood; Good California Italian fare.
Efficient, professional service. Best garlic pizza in town.
Had a calm and tasty brunch here for an unbeatable price. The staff was attentive, but not overbearing and provided an excellent recommendation. I would highly recommend if you want to visit Georgetown and have lovely meal, but don't want to pay the Georgetown price.
Server was forgetful and inexperienced. Many items on the menu were not available.
We have eaten here several times and will come back again food wine and service is always excellent we have absolutely no complaints about this restaurant
The food was excellent, service was moderate but did not detract from dining experience! Bar was exceptionally slow in making drinks that ended up lacking on alcohol and the lighting in the area we were seated in (farthest back from the bar) was a bit too brightly lit for my taste! However, it was a nice, calm meal and was a great break from D.C.'s food scene which can be too flashy, loud, and funky when you're looking for a great, classic meal. We also loved the complimentary bread sticks and olive tapenade!
Paolo’s is a regular neighborhood haunt for us. Not fancy but the food is excellent, good service, great value.
