Paola's is always welcoming, with great food and a nice wine selection. Seats are a little close, and the high ceilings can cause the conversation buzz to be a little loud, but , hey, we're not eating in Kansas!

Honestly not so great as I expected... good for the neighborhood but not a destination place at all. Nothing was done for my girlfriend birthday and I was a little disappointed... talking about the food, nice chicken, a bit dry. Agnolotti very tasty but the can black truffle on top I’m still digesting it... calamari just fine.
Good if you live around it, but doesn’t worth the trip if you live more then 15 block away...
Great expectation, bigger disappointment

Love Paola's but wish I had stuck with the delicious pasta or the other entrees which I've had and enjoyed -- the osso bucco at $46 was a big disappointment -- tough and not flavorful.

Though posing as a neighborhood restaurant, this is one of the best Italian restaurants in town. The food is terrific throughout the menu, the service is prompt and friendly. There are better known Italian restaurants downtown, and there are more expensive Italian restaurants uptown — but there are not any better Italian restaurants elsewhere in the city.

Paola's is a great restaurant and one of the best options in the immediate area. The food, especially the homemade pasta, is delicious and the service attentive. On the night we dined there, the weather was good and we got a table outside, which was very pleasant except for the fact that this particular table is hemmed in by boxwood hedges on all sides, leading to a somewhat isolated dining experience. The noise level is pleasantly modulated so that one can carry on a conversation. Highly recommend.

The meal was great. However, the service was very slow. For each course we waited and only got our food after asking where it was. It always came right out, as if they had just forgotten to bring it out. Even getting the bill and getting the credit card back took a very long time. We were there at 9 pm and it was not too busy.

Very boring standard Italian restaurant. Our waiter made a rude joke about someone at our table. Service was just OK overall aside from that. Noise level got bad as soon as it was 70% full. I would not go again or recommend this place for anything other than a "nice-ish" date location. Food was the best part of the night, I would say its above average for this class of restaurant.

Simply one the best restaurants in NYC. The food is authentic and if you love Italian cooking, the chef's touch is amazing - with a great wine list that won't break the bank. The old world charm is not heavy or tired. In fact, the restaurant is full of energy - and yes, that translates into a noise level that some may find off-putting. The staff are extremely attentive without being over bearing. This is a go-to for my wife and I and we never have trouble hearing each other over our meal. One of NYC's great dining experiences in the beautiful upper east side.

Service and food are excellent. Our reservation was at 6:15 pm on a Friday. We were seated promptly and the staff treated us like royalty. We ordered Pinot noir from the Willamette Valley (Why would anyone choose a Pinot from California?). The strawberry shortcake on a cookie was exactly the way it should be, however, I wasn't sure if the cream was made in-house - if it wasn't, It should be. Upon completion of our dinner, we were not rushed to finish and surrender the table. On the negative side we had to ask for a desert menu and the decor could use a little jazzing up in the dining area. I'm an architect who designs restaurants, so I pay attention to detail. All around this was a great dining experience.

Solid neighborhood Italian food. Not as pricey as you'd think. Good effort on the wine list. Ingredients are fresh, recipes real, and dishes well put together, very digestible, and not over the top. Slightly disappointing desserts. We'll be back for sure, especially for the fresh pasta

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here on Friday night. Everything about the experience was ideal - the cocktails (not too sweet Manhattans) were ice cold and perfectly blended, the pasta with mushrooms (including truffles, my favorite) al dente and sumptuous, and the Tuscan steak cooked to perfection. Barolo wine - divine. The service was impeccable. Can't say enough about it - one of the finest dining experiences ever.

Excellent restaurant. We weren't sure what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious - everything was very fresh and the portions were a perfect size. The Eggs Benedict was amazing. It was reasonably priced for NYC - a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with friends and family. I would definitely go back.

Well - somewhat fancy Italian on the Upper East Side. Expensive. Friendly staff that forgot to tell my arriving friend that I was already seated. Noisy. Food fairly good but not for this price. Nice looking decor. Overall - plenty of places in the neighborhood that serve as good food for less of a price and calmer.

The decor of the dining room is charming: art deco with large windows. I wish they had a lunch menu rather than using the dinner menu for lunch. That makes for a very expensive midday meal. Still, the waiters are professional and the food is good, just too pricey.

I absolutely love this place. Elegant, good service, excellent food - consistently good. A real neighborhood gem. Great for sitting outside under the umbrellas and watching the best of the UES crowd go by. Branzino to die for - simple and delicious. Pastas are excellent - portions are perfect, not too overwhelming and having lived in Italy, I can say it is truly authentic Italian cuisine!
