Pao by Paul Qui – Faena Hotel Miami Beach Ratings and Reviews
Food was good - not stellar. Service was on point and the decor was easily one of the most beautiful lighting and architectures in Miami history! I was disappointed they did not offer a full menu on Art Basel weekend (namely omission of duck) but the rest of the options were there. A bit frou frou (small portions) - more of a see and be seen type spot in the cosmic Faena universe.
I have dined at most restaurants in South Beach and this is, without a doubt, the best place you could choose for a creative delicious meal that you will never forget. Don't be intimidated by the fusion of foods when reading the menu, you will not be disappointed and their is just nothing like it anywhere else!
Beautiful high end restaurant with great wait staff. We read rave reviews about the creative food before dining at Pao. And, the food is indeed creative. But, what we found was that almost every dish was over flavored, over smoked, and over loaded with exotic ingredients, with the results being too complex and overwhelming the underlying food. Even their "signature" dish called Unicorn, which is sea urchin and corn chowder served in a large hollowed out spiny urchin shell, was disappointing. The presentation looked amazing but there was only one small piece of urchin inside. The rest was, as a result, just some over-priced corn chowder.
We were so impressed by the food, this is a unique culinary experience and one we will remember. From the moment you walk in everything is off the charts amazing.. the incredible Damian Hirst art, the delicious cocktails, the friendly and above and beyond service, and the food... just simply awesome. We will be back!!
I have to say we were somewhat worried when I made the booking that the food would be 'difficult' as asian food often is, and that there would not be enough. Far far from it. The menu was amazing, there was more than enough food and the restaurant is superb. Our server Hisham was attentive but not overbearing, knew his menu inside and out, and we followed his recommendations which were perfect to the nth degree. It was lovely to see diners dressed well, but not overdressed, for once in Miami. Absolutely loved it and will definitely be back when we are back at our Miami home for the Holidays.
Amazing service beyond expectations!!! The crudos and appetizers are delicious! Very different types of recipes compared to other asian fusion restaurants. Drinks are also delicious. However, did not like the specialty rice options. Was missing lots of flavor. I would recommend this place for happy hour, great drinks and tapas. Service is excellent!
The food was amazing... our waitress, Jane was very knowledgeable of the menu, including the wine which I found to be very impressive. We ended up going with most of her recommendations and it did not disappoint! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends visiting Miami looking for something different but delicious!
Loved my dinner at Pao. Our sever was awesome! So friendly and helpful. A little forceful with what items we should order, which turned some people off, but I didn't mind. We shared the snapper and it was amazing! I can't wait to go back to try it again. The tables were comfortable and spaced well. This is a great place for a date night, special occasion, girls or guys night out. I left stuffed and excited to come back.
Server lacked knowledge. We were a party of four and decided to all order the $195 tasting menu. First, when asked the difference between the $95 and $195 tasting menu the response was "the $195 has duck and more expensive ingredients." Wow was the common thought. Despite this and because of the chef's awards we decided on the $195/person tasting menu. As each course was brought to the table we had to inquire about the ingredients and the recommended way to construct the perfect bite. It became a joke as the dishes progressed throughout the night continually lacked information or advise. I believe there was no "experience" at this venue. Good luck if you decide to roll the dice here.
