Panza Ratings and Reviews
Love this place. We have eaten at the many great Italian restaurants in the North End but feel Panza is best. The bread is crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The wine is very reasonably priced generally $22 a bottle. We shared the bruschetta ($8) that was enough for 4. I had the chicken parmigiana ($18) that was huge and perfectly cooked. The ziti was al dente and cooked with salt. The sauce was light and tasty. I rank this as second only to a Sicilian restaurant in Granda Spain. My wife had a fish dish that she absolutely loved. Truly the price was a great value considering that so many places overprice their food. Granted we didn’t have dessert there as there are 2 great bakeries nearby but think this place is wonderful.
Once you are in it is great, but to get in was a huge hassle. We had a reservation for 5pm, as did many others in the LINE we had to wait in outside. A walk in group was allowed to cut us and be seated. We waited for half an hour when we had a reservation. There is no hostess working the door / line so reservations essentially are meaningless. Great food and prompt service, but the line outside with reservations is a major turn off.
The restaurant was quite small, a bit of a hole in the wall. But the service was great and the food was delicious! We had a reservation, which helped because there were several people waiting. The food came out pretty quickly. We were out celebrating a birthday, so I was hoping for something with a bit more ambiance, but overall it was nice. I also didn’t realize that they don’t serve dessert, so we had to go down the street for a pastry.
Our meal was great. And we loved that we were able to make a reservation in advanced. Towards the end of the night though, the staff wanted to go home and opened the front door, turned on the lights, and just did whatever they could to encourage us to leave. Which we found rude when we spent a lot of money and just wanted to finish our wine.
The food was just ok compared to other options in the area, and the meal started off with a mildly rude altercation with the hostess who seated us. After we tipped 16% on the bill, the general manager came over after we paid to complain we tipped off the pre-tax total (which is the rule of thumb) vs. the post-tax and loudly announced to us and nearby tables he felt compelled to inquire why the tip was so "poor". This used to be my regular stop in the North End, but I don't think I'll be coming back.
Panza is authentic Italian. Absolutely delicious with great service despite the tiny close quarters of the restaurant. Our service was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us narrow down our choice because there were so many good options. The restaurant is quite noisy so not a good place to conduct business. But I would highly recommend for a good fun night out!
With all the great ratings I was surprised that this place wasn't better. There are so many places to choose from in the north end and while Panza had a good price point, none of their noodles were made in house, salads were over dressed and the service was just ok.
Nothing about our experience was particularly horrible but there are too many better spots in the surrounding area that I'd rather go to.
Had the Butternut Squash tortalini and lobster ravioli were outstanding. Ask the friendly waiter what he would recommend and he gave us 5 options including the two we had. Place is small and cozy and hard to get the attention of waiters at the front door but once you did the dining experience was great. Highly recommend for the North End experience and you can make reservations.
I called many many times during business hours to change the number in our party. I left three messages as no one answered until 90 minuets prior to our reservation. Until then, we did not know if they could accommodate our additional two guests.
The food was fair to average: over-cooked pasta, unimaginative preparation, and huge portions (which many rate highly sacrificing quality for quantity).
The service was good: friendly and cheerful. He forgot a few things but we were a large group in a loud tiny space.
Panza has excellent food. We have eaten there twice now and both times the food has been exceptional. The bruschetta is incredible, as well as the baked ziti and penne amatriciana. We have also been to Italy recently and this was almost as good with wonderful atmosphere to go along with it.
It’s a very small and busy spot. We liked the food we ordered but it took them 10 minutes to seat us (in spite of our reservation). There was an empty table when we arrived but they seated some folks who had just walked up without a reservation before even speaking to us. Then, once we were seated, our server was really rushing us out. He kept trying to take our plates while we were still eating and never asked if we wanted more drinks or dessert or anything.
It was Sunday night of a long weekend and the place was packed. We had reservations for 5:30, but didn’t get seated till after 6. Fortunately, we were not in a rush. Once seated the service was prompt.
Most of our party went home with a doggie bag because the serving size was enough for two people. We had been there before and most definitely will go again!
The service here is atrocious. There is no one at the front of house taking reservations. Waiters ignore people as they walk into the restaurant. Although the food is wonderfu, the experience is not worth it due to such poor service. There are so many choices in the north end that this was an utter disappointment.
Amazing bolognese sauce. Everything was absolutely worth any kind of wait. Extremely fast service but lacking connection to customers for quick turnover. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone as long as you don't mind a wait and don't want to sit and linger much after you finish eating.
Good food but not great for a relaxed dining experience. Our party of two ordered an appetizer, an entree each, and two drinks each. The check was placed on our table the moment our plates were cleared. A group of people were standing next to us as we were chatting and finishing our drinks. As we left it became apparent to us that those folks were waiting for our table (via rude commentary). Our seats had been assigned and our table not even cleaned but they were told to sit there. Not the most professional approach to either incoming or outgoing customers.
