Panorama Restaurant & Sky Lounge at Sonesta Bayfront Hotel Coconut Grove Ratings and Reviews
Of all the restaurants in Miami, I spent my birthday dinner here. Ugh, and it was my fault for picking it based on the Opentable reviews. The food was OK, nothing special, service was OK as well. I imagine the view is better when the sun is out. The place is small and looked like it was just a few other hotel guests dining. There are so many other, better restaurants in Miami.
The view is breathtaking and the best as the sun is going down. Everything we ordered was exquisite. I could've stayed there for hours!!! Service wasn't bad, just not exceptional (we had to wait to have water refilled, hostess interrupted waiter when explaining specials to ask a question, etc) I will definitely be coming back for sure!
Miami spice provides the opportunity to try restaurants that you might not typically try. I'm not one to go to hotel restaurants however they validate parking for valet and walk into the dining area and the view is simply spectacular! Beautiful view. Food choices are good. Prices reasonable with or without Miami spice. Seafood ceviche was outstanding as well as my fish dish. Dessert all good. Great service. We will be back!
Panorama has been at the top of my list for several years. And, after this past Saturday, it stays there. In a way, I don't like sharing this special place with the wide world, though that wouldn't be fair to this terrifice restaurant and the professional, pleasant staff. We both enjoyed meals from the Miami Spice menu as well as excellent wine by the glass. I will continue to dine here whenever a special occassion or simply desire for a spectacular meal and view are on my wish list.
We experienced excellent service with a spectacular view of Biscayne Bay during a recent dinner at Panorama Restaurant at the Sonesta Hotel. A small restaurant, the Panorama has a relatively large staff of professional and helpful staff. We ordered from the prix fixe menu, three courses at an excellent price. Food tended to be either over flavored (a very strong marinade for the ceviche) or relatively flavorless (lamb chops). The mojitos were outstanding. I might return to enjoy drinks and perhaps a snack while appreciating the unique view.
A small but quality restaurant located on the 8th floor of the Sonesta Hotel in Coconut Grove. Fantastic view of Biscayne Bay. Small indoor seating area, with an equally small outside seating by the pool. Food was excellent, fresh products cooked to perfection. Excellent fresh bread service (usually a sign of a quality restaurant) No complaints here. Service can best be described as sluggish, no follow up on drink orders, no water refills, slow alcoholic drinks service, and overall lack of attention. Rock solid frozen butter served with the bread. I can never understand how this is so overlooked by many fine restaurants. BUTTER SHOULD BE SERVED AT ROOM TEMPERATURE! A shame, for what is an otherwise excellent kitchen. Overall a great spot for a leisurely lunch or dinner if you have time and patience. You just can't beat the view!
Overall disaster and huge letdown. If Remy is your waiter leave immediately. So I made reservations for my parents who were visiting and wish I had taken them elsewhere. When we were seated inside and I asked if we could enjoy the view outside I was told I had reserved a table inside and that there were none available. Okay fine, so I sat my back to the view so my parents could enjoy it, the only redeeming factor of this restaurant. When our server came over he said two words, took our drink order and acted very annoyed at having to give us service. This was the first and last time he came over. The entire night. We had no one check on how our food was and my father's fish was completely raw. Another server took it to the back and we sat for another 30 minutes, an entirely different entree was brought bc it was never communicated to cook the fish longer. Still no server. No drinks. No water refills. Nothing. My lamb chops were fatty and not even impressive and after sitting for 2 hours dinner had been completely ruined. The manager did a very thorough job apologizing but it was such an awful disappointing experience for my visitingn parents that I will NEVER RETURN or recommend them to anyone. I will actually do the opposite. Again DON'T waste your time and find a better restaurant not overpriced and with quality food.
The service was very good and there is a nice view. We were just expecting something much nicer from what we read online. Though the prices match an upscale restaurant, you really are just in a small hotel bar. The view is very nice, but only a few tables even have the view. The food was mediocre.
I am writing this review so that people understand what they are truly getting at this
restaurant...A VIEW, NOTHING ELSE. The food was ok, nothing spectacular but the prices were absolutely outrageous considering the quality. It is a tourist trap and you are paying for the view.
We had lunch there ordered 4 drinks, 2 salads, a soup, a ceviche, and a kids meal and the bill was an astounding $360.00. I do not mind paying for nice meals but this did not compare to any fine dining restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you went for drinks and scenery only. Even then you better dig deep into your pockets for marginal at best.
The view is spectacular, however the new change of menu leaves a lot to be desired. This restaurant is longer a Peruvian or Latin effused cuisine, but rather a normal hotel restaurant that does not offer original or interesting options to accompany the view.
I must say this place has a expetacular view. The menu although limited has enough of a variety to satisfy many different tastes. The food was terrific, very fresh and well prepared. The service however leaves a lot to be desired. The bar tender was very rude and got upset when our waiter took back the drink. I could hear him complain from the bar to our table that is how loudly he was speaking. The waiter was not attentive and did not offer bread or check on us. Thankfully in between service he handed us off to a different waitress who was very nice and caring. She completely redeemed my thoughts on going back again. I would come back because of the food and view, I just hope the service steps it up!
We actually enjoyed the food and service at Panorama. However, when we came to pay our bill, we attempted to use a $50 Open Table check that we had received through booking on the site. Not only did the waitress refuse to honor the check, she denied all knowledge of open table, even when we showed her what was written on the check stub and also opened up the Open Table app on our cell.
To put it bluntly, she made us feel like we were trying to cheat the restaurant out of $50, and many other diners were staring over at our table - extremely embarrassing
I was expecting much more from this place. Restaurant is tiny, food in the photo's section are not true, and service was absolutely horrible. In top of that, they charge you 19%, which is ok with me since I usually do 20%. But when the service is bad, it's not right. This place does not serve Peruvian food. I would never go back, nor recommend it to anyone.
We ordered the tempura shrimp, tuna ceviche and a ceasar salad to split between the two of us. The food was terrific and we had a beautiful view of biscayne bay. The service wasn't initially good as we were seated right by the door to the kitchen. Once we were moved and were out of the flow of the kitchen traffic, our experience was much more relaxing.
The view was great, and there aren't many like it in the Grove. The menu was limited and pedestrian. Food was good, but I'm not getting why it's a destination at all, except for the view. It was a weeknight so it was quiet, and the Grove was dead. My niece and her friend liked it, though.
Having selected the Panorama Restaurant for our wedding anniversary dinner from the trip advisor ratings we were a little underwhelmed when we went in. The main room is small with a bar and there is an outside area. The ambience was lacking as there was nothing special about the décor and having dressed up for the anniversary meal found a large table with flip flops and t shirts next to us.
So not fine dining with people making an effort to look smart but a standard bar with some tables.
However the service was fine and we were well attended and the food was really good. The ceviche was excellent and the all the courses from appetizer to dessert we could not fault and when the bill came it was great value.
Panorama is a hidden gem in the Grove in that since it is in the Sonesta Hotel a lot of people don't know about it. The food is fresh and very tasty. The trio of ceviches are lovely and fresh, the churrasco was cooked beautifully and very savory. The one thing I would encourage them to do is perhaps offer more traditional Peruvian dishes, I think the selection can be augmented. The service was great, very pleasant and attentive. The Pisco Sour was great! The views are just gorgeous, don't miss the sunsets!!
The food we had was really outstanding, and the service during lunch was okay - we spent a number of afternoons at the pool and couldn't get anyone to help us with food and drinks. I even tried to flag them down, and they ignored me, so I had to go inside and order myself and they had the nerve to charge me a 19% gratuity! They don't have their service act together
The restaurant is on the 8th floor of a 18 floor hotel. If you sit outside near the wall, there is a bit of a view. We didn't since it was windy. Food and service were good but during our 4 day stay in Coconut Grove we had a much nicer experience at other restaurants. Yuca Frita was very good. The ceviche was okay. The Seco de Pescado was delicious.
