Pane e vino is an all time favorite and a great place to meet friends from Marin and the city. The food is consistently delicious as is the service. Best of all, it has a local, neighborhood atmosphere and you always run into someone you know!
Very good food and several choices to pick. Excellent pasta and pizza.
The food was passable.
We all had a nice time and enjoyed our meals. Very good service also.
Our first time here. It is a very nice, authentic, Italian restaurant. My seared striped bass was excellent while my wife's filet of sole in lemon caper sauce was just OK. The Antipasto Della Casa and dolci were quite good. The server made a good wine suggestion. He was a bit slow, but that may be part of the ambiance. We had a nice relaxed dinner with friends. I would not hesitate to go back.
I normally go to this restaurant for my personal occasions such as birthdays or for visiting friends. This time, I brought my business group. It was impressive to see that they handle the delivery of the courses in impeccable manner. Food was great as always.
Excellent service - authentic Italian food healthy wine pour 3/4 per glass never more than a half glass in most restaurants here gets you thru the entire meal
We greatly enjoyed our first time here with excellent adult service, excellent food and reasonably priced choices as well as a great wine, We plan to return although there are soooo many fine SFO places to dine
One of the best Italian restaurants anywhere! Great food and wonderful service, as Fabio is our favorite server in SF!
We visit often and food always consistent good quality
Great food and service !
Great place and friendly staff
Really the best waiter in town. Great pasta - all home made. Excellent pizza too, and I just love the filled artichoke. Warm environment. And Bruno the owner is fabulous host.
Our favorite place! Great food and friendly service!
You can always count on great service and great food at Pane e Vino. Away from the busses on Union Street and a friendly place for a wonderful meal. Better “Italian” than the North Beach.
Large but not overwhelming menu selections, well prepared with fresh ingredients. Excellent service.
Amazing... expect the unusual and spectacular flavors.... VERY extensive menu, making it difficult to choose. Followed waiters suggestions, no disappointments! Seems pricey, until you experience the flavors and find out you're full (and satisfied) half way through, ...and only wanting to taste MORE!.... One of, if not truly the BEST truly original and truly Italian restaurants in all of the San Francisco! Kudos to master chef (and owner) Bruno! THE place to go, innocence hiding behind 'casual'... and surpassing anything you may have enjoyed before!
Take your time, ...enjoy, ....luxuriate in amazing natural flavors, starters to ending (you'll only want to savor every bite) ...in a very casual setting.
This was only the second visit (with 'special fiends') in over a year, (the first visit was equally an enjoyable "taste fest") just a distance to travel, now a 'regular'... booking another visit asap...
This was a business dinner for four. In a nutshell, this qualifies as a neighborhood gem. Not fancy but good food that left us completely satisfied. The burrata salad was wonderful as was the petrale sole and lamb chops. We split 2 desserts: tiramisu was substantial and wonderful. The wine list was all Italian and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is not fancy but nice. The acoustics were fine until a foursome of 4 came in and proceeded to listen to their phones at a very loud level. So rude so we left. I would go back if I were in the neighborhood for sure.
The staff are accommodating and friendly. There is good variety of choices on the menu and our dinners have always been healthy and delicious. The Pomodoro Bruscetta is a great starter. Everything we have ordered has been a keeper.
The food is consistently good. It has been the same for years, and always pleases. The wine list is good, although you get no bargains. The corkage fee is outrageous for a casual -$30- The atmophere is casual and can be hectic. I recommend it highly, except for the wine issue.
Authentic Italian food for many years. Open for special wishes - and supports little surprises for your dining partner
We took my well traveled friends with us as a thank you dinner. They just loved the ambiance and said it seemed just like a friendly restaurant that they would go to in Italy. The food is good. the staff is friendly and very accomodating. It is one of our very favorite neighborhood places.
Not very impressive, especially for the price. The food was somewhat good, but that's about it. Feels like a night out at a very expensive California Pizza Kitchen
This is a great place to find Italian cuisine at a reasonable price
Great spot, The service was fast and friendly. The food well prepared and tasty and the wine list limited but sufficient and reasonable
Great place for family and friends to enjoy good food
Pizza is amazing
The food was great but the service was very unprofessional and unfriendly.
Phenomenal food with professional, not cloying, service. Can't wait to go back.
Been going to Pane e Vino since they were at Steiner St and now Union St. I live few blocks up the hill. Great neighbourhood ITALIAN food. Love the bread and dipping in the thick olive oil with sweet balsamic. Very creamy risotto and my husband love the minestrone with bread.
Excellent attentive staff, excellent main courses. Highly recommend.
Great food and service was friendly and attentive. Will come again.
Always great food and professional service at Pane e Vino.
Pane y Vino is a great neighborhood spot. I hadn't been there in years and it really hasn't changed at all. That's a good thing. It is still friendly, lively and energetic with really tasty food.
We always enjoy getting together with dear friends at Pane e Vino. Wonderful food, friendly atmosphere, authentic Italian feel.
Authentic N. Italian food .. I'm from N. Italy
Have been going to Pane e Vino for almost 20 yrs - always great
We had dinner here earlier in the week for our annual office Christmas dinner. The food was fantastic and the service was great! Highly recommended hidden gem on Union Street.
Every experience at this restaurant has been consistently fantastic! Professional waiters, delicious gourmet Italian food, great wine list, amazing bread, great vibe, needless to say... I will definitely be coming back again! This is our go to place whenever we meet friends in San Francisco. Try it, you will not be disappointed!!!
This is my favorite San Francisco restaurant period. The food is amazing and the staff is equally fantastic. It’s just one of those fun, friendly, foodie places you don’t want to miss.
We were disappointed. Good food, service lousy. Very noisy, too hard to talk and hear each other. Maybe better on a slower week night
We went on a Thursday night and though we had reservations for 8:00pm we were early but were promptly seated. The restaurant was full, but I couldn't help but notice that it was a much older crowd. I'm old, but many of the customers were in their 70s and 80s. We were seated next to a friendly group of people and spent most of our dinner chatting with them. This made the evening more fun; however, the food was only mediocre. My pasta paparadelle with chicken and mushrooms was soft and overcooked (unacceptable for an Italian restaurant) and my husband's sand dabs, with steamed vegetables on the side, were good but uninspired. For a "I don't feel like cooking tonight" restaurant, I would go here. For really good Italian food, I would go elsewhere.
