On a recent visit to San Francisco we were looking for a great place, not a tourist trap, to catch up with family. With a very particular teenager in tow, we decided on Italian and read the reviews and high praise of Pane e Vino Trattoria. The food was exceptionally good, especially the pasta dishes. While the restaurant was quite busy, the ambiance was energetic and enjoyable and we found it easy to talk at our table.
This would be a great place to celebrate a birthday! Several guests were marking a special occasion and were serenaded by the restaurant staff. Often such moments are cringe-worthy with staff going through the motions. That was not the case here! I found myself tuning in each time the staff assembled to serenade an honored guest--with great harmony and in Italian, no less.
I would highly recommend Pane e Vino Trattoria! We had a lovely evening at this establishment!
A value in the Marina; nothing earth-shaking or 'cutting-edge', but all dishes well-prepared; service quite attentive
It's been awhile since we've been here and it still is,one yummy place to eat! The lasagna is fabulous as is the fruit tart for dessert!
We love this place!
This is a family regular. The food is authentic Italian and never a miss. They don't try to make it fancy. It is just delicious classic Italian food.
Good food, nice and attentive staff and quiet environment which is conducive to a private conversation.
Family of four visiting from Virginia got told about this restaurant from a local artisan we met displaying his photographs in union square. It was the best meal we have had so far on our 8 day trip in California. Wish we had something like this in Richmond!
It's my favorite restaurant...like going home!
I love the waiters, the Maitre 'D, the food, the ambience and the familiar, warm, neighborhood feel of the place..
Very friendly reception by the Manager (Carlos), very courteous and effective service by good humored waiters, excellent and genuine Italian food, very good house red wine, a generally pleasant atmosphere, no background music (a plus for civilized conversation). One of the five best restaurants in the SF Bay Area I have been to in the last two years.
Pane e vino continues to be our favorite restaurant. We make sure we dine here every time we come to San Francisco . It never disappoints. Delicious food, warm and welcoming environment, super staff, ---we love it!
What a fantastic dining experience! We felt like we had been transported to Siena or Florence, Italy! Not only did all of the servers speak Italian, but the look, feel, and food all a great Italian restaurant. Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was just as good. We asked for recommendations and everything was fantastic. Being our anniversary, we asked for some of the nicer wine selections. Much to our surprise, they suggested a lower priced wine that amazing! Such a wonderful experience!
Great, very authenic
The food was only mediocre. My pasta was bland and doused in too much cream. My husband's lamb was very bland.
A family owned restaurant with the best food!!!!!!!
Wonderful food and great service! Fabulous neighborhood restaurant! Love to eat here!
This place is authentic and delightful. The food is reliably good and the ambiance and service is terrific.
Food is delicious, service was great, we loved the patio.
It is a place that you want to come back on any celebration.
Friendly and warm staff. Terrific food (genuine Italian). Wish we had this in our neighborhood. A real gem.
Great service, great food; Pane E Vino always delivers.
Great servers, so personable and fun. The food is great and only bested by the service!
When we lived closer (walking distance) we came much more often. I forgot how much we enjoyed eating here‼️
This is old-school Italian, with a light modern touch. Waiters help us select a very nice wine and kept us on target to get to our next event that evening. Seafood and pasta were delicate and delicious. Salami app had unique tastes around the plate. Can't wait to have an excuse to visit again!
A cute restaurant that feels like it's run by a family. However, for the prices it wasn't anything special. The food we had was ok but pretty light on flavor and the portions were quite meager. I came here with my family the Friday of Mother's Day weekend (which was on a Sunday) and while the restaurant was busy, it was super packed, and yet our service was very slow. It's not a bad place but there are higher quality and more affordable authentic Italian restaurants in the North Beach.
As always great food, service and value. great, greatgreat
Good local Italian restaurant. Considered a neighborhood gen!
Love this place - My husband has now been 3 times and picked the same thing off the menu every time, given it was so good the first time. I've tried a couple of things now and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend
Always great! Easily accommodates any requests and always delicious. Great neighborhood eatery.
Love this place. Authentic Italian food. Great device. Truly enjoyable with a neighborhood feel.
A nice place to dine with family or friends!!! Good service, and great desserts !!!
Very busy trattoria. You can get the waiter's attention, but they are clearly moving. Ambience is pleasant, but nothing special. The food was good without being great. It seems like a genuine Italian restaurant. We have been to Italy, but it doesn't feel special. Better restaurants make you feel special
The trattoria offered friendly and helpful service. Quiet dining room so old friends could catch up with good food and wine. We even found on the street parking!
