We had a group of 4 women on our annual trip to NY City. We had a wonderful meal in a relaxed restaurant. Our waitress was wonderful and even changed the wine we ordered when we didn't like it. I would recommend the restaurant without hesitation.
Dinner--Prix fixe: Amuse bouche, hot bread and butter, delicious appetizers (soup, lentils this time), mains (duck is superb, signature cod is delicious), sorbet, cookies, dessert (baked apple-- sooo wonderful). Friendly service, quaint ambiance, even the low backgrpund music is charming and appropriate. The drinks are good and generous. Love Paname!
Food was great, but the service was extremely slow
Excellent service, food, ambience.
It was not a good experience. The food is not what it describes . We wont recommend it .
This was our second time dining here. Everything is fresh, beautifully prepared and served. My appetizer was pate with cornichons and my husband had a caesar salad. Main courses perfect. I had duck with very crispy skin and my husband ate steak. All in all we loved our meal. Definitely will be back.
A neighborhood gem! Food, service, hospitality, ambience are all in one package at this French bistro. In addition to a la carte, Paname offers a prix fixe dinner, with additional daily specials. The dishes are tasty, hearty, and nicely presented. We had the vegetable soup, Caesar salad, Boeuf bourguignon, and the bouillabaisse, which was so filling we took home our desserts (baked apples--a wonderful dessert option too rarely seen), but not before we had coffee. Can't wait to go back!
A wonderful experience as always. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the service is courteous and professional. Dinner was delicious and all of the additions from a mushroom torte to the sorbet and cookies completes the dining experience!
Visiting from San Diego and our first time at the restaurant. We loved everything about it and will include it in all future visits.
Very French,,very creative,,very delicious, very worthy pricing, what morE could you want..?
Love this place..
Nice food and friendly staff
I would just change the music
Great pesto tomatoes appetizer
I hope u have duck all year round
Brunch menu shown on open table is not actually available. No options for vegetarians. Lentil salad which was represented as vegetarian came with bacon in it. Other dishes were mediocre. Very unpleasant experience!!
Terrific food at a very reasonable price 👍🏼
We had a wonderful dinner at Panama Restaurant last Friday evening. Everyone in our small party ordered different meals and none of us were disappointed. The variety of meals on the menu is something else! Also, their wine selection is quite good. The atmosphere in the restaurant was quite nice for a Friday evening - quiet and relaxed. Overall we had a lovely dining experience at Panama French Restaurant.
Lovely spot on the East Side for a comfortable French meal.
A classic bistro in the East 50s, with a terrific prix fixe lunch menu. Perfect for business conversations
great place for a first date even if your 64! service was very good and the martini had my date very happy!
Appetizer - YUMMM!
Main Course - WOWWZA HELLA GOOD!
Dessert - Eeeesh, skip this one...
Go for the boozy brunch and leave with your tummy and wallet quite happy! Lovely ambiance, super friendly and sweet staff, and, as already said, the fooood was awwwwesome (except the dessert..)!
Paname is a neighborhood favorite and always pleases for an impromptu meal with friends and family, a business lunch, or a romantic date. And they go the second mile when you’re hosting a special event, professional or personal. I hosted a Valentine’s Lunch at Paname and was thrilled with the outcome. The table was set beautifully. The service was attentive, graceful, and friendly. The food arrived with little wait and was just delicious and beautifully presented. The staff and it’s ownership deserve nothing but high marks and praise. Thank you, Paname and its superb staff and beloved owner, Bernard for being best in class, serving food from the heart!
Great cuisine and very nice atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Celebrating my aunts 92nd birthday for lunch. Great value for terrific food and superb service 👍🏼
Amazing food and service!
The atmosphere/design is not formal, or attractive. Room feels cold, and old. There's a small bar in the back that doesn't look comfortable, and the television was playing loudly which seemed tacky for a French restaurant. The food, on the other hand was very good.
The food was Amazing. The service very good. The place can be remodel to a better decore.
A WONDERFUL NEIGHBORHOOD FRENCH BISTRO
Wonderfully fitted out as a Parisian bistro, this restaurant delivers well made and flavorful French Bistro fare. The prices are moderate, the wine list has affordable choices, and the staff are attentive and the owner ever watchful. Highly recommended.
On a Monday early evening we went for dinner, before a jazz concert. We were served by a very helpful and friendly (and unobtrusive) waitress. We were given a complimentary mushroom moose for starters, which went nicely with the Malbec we ordered. With warm baguette we were served soft (but of course) butter. We both had the prix fixe menu. I ordered escargot de bourbogne in baby potatoes: delicious, but you had better like garlic! Laura order the crab cakes with remoulade: lots of crab meat, delicious remoulade. We were then given complimentary lemon sorbet as a palette cleanser. As an entree I ordered the pork scallopini, a twist on a classic dish, served with a thick gravy; Laura ordered the cod a la nicoise tomato fondant. For dessert I ordered flourless chocolate cake and Laura ordered the Crème brûlée. Everything was delicious, perfectly cooked, nicely presented. Service was outstanding and unobtrusive. I have come to prefer bistros of this sort over 'hot spots' featuring the star-chef-inspired cuisine which so often disappoints but never fails to be expensive. Paname is a New York gem. I highly recommend it.
They had us wait 45 minutes for our table. There was a party of around 12 people who sat for 4 hours. One of our dishes (a chicken dish) was very dry, we had to send it back. Also another dish (a pasta with vodka sauce) was too watery. This visit wasn't good. We had a better experience a few weeks before.
Nice place for business meal, not expensive at all
Everything top notch as always! Great food, great atmosphere
Our third visit to this restaurant. It is nice to have a midtown East neighborhood restaurant like Paname with both good food and a QUIET atmosphere.
Chose this restaurant based on a 4.5 star average rating - which is insane. Restaurant empty at 7:30 pm on a Thursday night, food was horrible - even the standard french onion soup was bad. Never again.
The room is basic Second Ave. with art as ambiance. Our four all took the $43 prix-fixe and each of us was delighted. Service was attentive, the 2015 Beaune and 2012 St. Em delightful and gently priced and we left having thought we found a secret.
Ok nothing special
Delicious food. Very nice ambiance. Looking forward to my next visit.
We celebrated a birthday tonight at the restaurant and had an outstanding meal. The owner/chef was very gracious and cooked up a great dinner for us. It is truly a neighborhood gem👍
Very good set lunch, the cod is amazing!
Panama is one of the few restaurants we keep returning too. Its in the neighborhood and consistently delicious. The food, especially the desserts, are presented artfully, beautifully, scrumptiously.
One of the worst meals I’ve ever had.
No one to greet us at the door. A waitress eventually seated us, saying the good tables were reserved. (We did have an Open Table reservation.)
The prix fixe had lots of choices, some with supplements. Duck was seriously dried out and stringy.
Lots of regulars, so they must be doing something right. There are better French restaurants in the neighborhood.
