About Panache Restaurant
Panache Restaurant specializes in Spanish cuisine. Using only fresh ingredients, it creates a variety of authentic recipes with a contemporary twist. This place was decent, but not amazing. I had a groupon for the restaurant, so it was a very affordable evening for my boyfriend and I. We stuck to the hot and cold tapas menus. The service was great, and the ingredients tasted very fresh, but nothing really stuck out to me as amazing. I would probably visit again if only they weren't closing their doors :(. I hope the waitstaff and chefs find luck elsewhere in D.C.

This use to be one of my go-to spots for lunch when I worked downtown, and I was so happy to have a chance to visit again for a dinner date! My family was in town and staying at the Mayflower right across the street. The food is delicious - they have hot/cold tapas as well as full entrees - and the service is always excellent. We closed out the restaurant but the servers never rushed us. Had a great time! Definitely recommend!
Service was great, food was good but we had a 15 percent discount coupon and they forgot to reduce the bill. After we paid and I called back at the hotel advising they did not reduce the bill they would not give me a credit so very disappointing they could not do anything . I spent over 200 so would have been nice if they could have done something....Make sure you check your bills very carefully if you are going to eat there .
On the noise level rating, rather than "energetic" (too euphemistic!), I would re-label it as "overly noisy". I like Panache -- the lamb was excellent. But every time I've gone there, I've struggled with the noise level. As I'm hard of hearing, I reserved a table next to the entrance and the window, which the staff did. But at the peak of lunch hour, I still found it difficult to hear -- even my younger friend (who is not hard of hearing) commented on the noise level. It's the only reason I don't go there more often. Other than that, service and food were very good.
Came here for dinner with my mom. First note, there are no real bargains on the wine list--all wines were $10+ for pretty humdrum stuff. We were seated quickly, the restaurant was nice and quiet, and the food was decent. This is going to sound more negative than I really want it to, but this place is totally fine--if you are in from out of town and want a low-key nice serviceable meal (which is exactly what you are looking for sometimes!!), then this is a good pick, but it's not really anything super special. I do think that overall everything on the menu is priced a little too high.
Food was yummy and the service was great at the beginning but then faltered for some reason. And it was really warm sitting in the front corner of the restaurant by the window. The a/c vent was close to the table but unfortunately the way it pointed meant that no air got to the corner which made dining a bit uncomfortable as it was about 95 degrees that evening. But I would go back for sure!
We were seated in the back near the DJ booth which was empty. There as a faint smell of cleaning product which of course depressed the appetite. The booze selection was sufficient though not extravagant or in depth. The server was really young and really anxious and therefore a bit rote. The food was the highlight which I suppose should be at a restaurant. Their pre-meal bread basket is pretty awful. But the top us were surprisingly delightful. We had the olive tapenade, prosciutto date role, and the caprese. The saffron risotto was particularly delightful.
The food was good (nothing special), but we thought a tad overpriced for lunch. Restaurant was empty except for us and another couple, yet those coming in were told there was only seating available at the bar. Restaurant never did fill up and I found it odd to be turning as way diners. Would we come back? Probably not. I was especially turned off by the lack of air conditioning on hot, humid day. Made experience unpleasant. Wait person didn't check to see if we needed drink refills, which was also an issue.
My wife and I were visiting DC and staying at the Mayflower. A rainy evening after a long day enjoying DC's fabulous art museums, we chose Panache, which is just across the quiet side street from our hotel. Staff could not have been more welcoming, attentive and accommodating. Food was excellent, and they did not mind splitting our entre' and salad onto two plates. (We're small eaters, so that typically works well for us.) Only minor issues: my wife's margarita ended up costing $20 after a request to add a splash of gran mariner, and the entre' ended up being really too small to have been split.
Tucked away on a side street in the heart of the business district, I would have never discovered this place if it weren't for OpenTable. I was looking for French cuisine near my office, and while this is not quite French, I decided that since French Onion Soup was on the menu, it was close enough. It had some unique and interesting tapas, and I really liked the cozy ambiance. There were no servers anywhere to be found when it was time for the bill and then it took more time to find someone to take our money, but other than that, my colleague and I really enjoyed the experience, and I would certainly go there again.
The food was amazing!! I had the French onion soup which was awesome, not too salty; just right! Mboth ordered some tapas. I had the grilled squid which was excellent and my wife had the zucchini purses which she really enjoyed. We both had the filet for dinner. Although my wife's had to be taken back because it was a little bit too rare for her, but it only took a couple of minutes to get it cook to perfection. Everything about the evening was excellent!! We were celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary and the waiter brought us out a chocolate mousse cake; it was incredibly delicious! We love going to Panache and can't wait until the next timey
But there was a great selection and they all were delicious. Good for sharing and trying things out. Liked that there was also an option to do a "regular" meal instead of the tapas, although we all opted for the tapas. Staff was very attentive. Great place for before/after a show at the Improv.
The location of Panache is perfect...seems like it's secluded but it's right off of busy Connecticut and 17th. Perfect place to go for lunch. Their specials are great, they're fast and it's a good old fashioned business lunch ambiance. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the meeting went well!
