The food is really good but the prices are too high for what it is. I found it to be a good meal but not a memorable one. The food was too fussy.
We had a great dinner and Leonard is awesome! He made our evening so wonderful!
Best restaurant in San Diego!
In a word Magnifique. I always visit the Pamplemoose when on town and it NEVER disppaoints.
Wonderful varied menu including so many delicious truffle dishes, great service always and the most extensive wine list i've ever seen including some rare gems.
We love this place and have never been disappointed. Went with four friends and shared lots of different dishes spanning the menu. You will not be disappointed. Wine list is huge so don’t hesitate to ask for help.
We will be back.
My husband & I made a reservation for dinner at 6:30 pm. We were seated in a very nice booth and the waitress quickly took our drink order. She came back after our drink to explain the specials so we ordered a beet salad and the special surf and turf dinner. Our salad had some greens that tasted like flowers and little taste. I had to ask for some additional drizzle dressings to give it some flavor.
Our surf and turf arrived and we were absolutely in shock! Our piece of meat was brown, square and overcooked, a we had ordered it medium rare. Our lobster tail was overcooked as well, to the point of being mushy meat. We like our lobster with a nice firm taste. There was no drawn butter served with the lobster, as we're used to have it, but instead we did have a container of delicious burnoose that saved the fact the meat was not a good cut of meat nor was the lobster of good quality. A filet should be thicker than the cut of meat we were served.
Our horror came when we were given the bill! We just paid $120 for the surf and turf entree and to think it was inedible! We should have sent it back as the chef came out from the kitchen and was sitting a few tables away having a nice visit with the guests. If we weren't so hungry and didn't want to wait for another entry, we would have sent it back.
I was truly disappointed with our experience and don't feel we'll go back any time soon.
Wonderful foie gras! Very nice selection of wines - this is the only place I have found that offers the Merry Edwards sav Blanc. Lovely selection on the menu.
Always outstanding. Bree and Ilius at the bar are great, our favorite server Jerry remembers your order from the last visit and how you like it served...pretty awesome! Pamplemousse is our go to restaurant when we want a special night out.
Excellent restaurant. We are never disappointed and often go here for special occasions
Loved the food and our waiter was great!
Some of the best food in San Diego County, and tremendous service
We went to celebrate a few family members’ birthdays. We were extremely pleased with the entire experience. The food was creative and delicious, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was fun to have Chef Jeffrey come out and mingle with the patrons. Will definitely be back!
Not as good as it used to be. Server had a superior attitude. Food was overcooked and underseasoned. Fine martini. Not worth the price
Consistent amazing food
All around great restaurant.
For 20 years, Pampy has been the best restaurant in San Diego. The food is always great and the staff treats us like family. Whenever I stray to a new restaurant, I'm often left wondering why I've subjected myself to high prices, terrible service and a $20 parking fee. Do yourself a favor, stop going to to all these new hot spots and just go to Pamplemouse. You will never be disappointed.
Great specials. A lot of different options. Accommodating to gluten free needs
Another fabulous meal. Valentine's Day lamb chop and beef filet were exceptional. I appreciate that they are always willing to accommodate my gluten sensitivity. This is our go to place for a special occasion, or when we just want an exceptional dining experience.
Our favorite place for a special occasion . Waitstaff is excellent--very caring. Food is delicious and nice presentation.
Our server was friendly knowledgeable and had great timing. He made suggestions based on our brief conversation that were perfect for us.
Great food and service
Expensive but worth it.
The breads are freshly baked and soft. Appetizer (salmon salad) is great which makes a good start. Entry is yummy and I like the black cod very much. Dessert is cute and sweet. Everything is perfect and we enjoy the conversation so much so that I almost forget the time. This is my first time here, I will recommend more friends in the future. Next time, I will definitely try something more french instead of american.
Had a nice dinner during restaurant week. The service was great. Food was good. Plating was almost non-existent. Thought it was a little pricey for what we got (even at restaurant week prices.) I don't think this a reflection of restaurant week though.
We enjoyed our meal during restaurant week very much!
Great food very loud. Good service. Nice choices during restaurant week.
The food was fabulous, but the wait for our reservation was 45 minutes which is pretty ridiculous. The hostess with the short hair was AWFUL!!! When I checked it she said they were running about 10-15 minutes behind which certainly would not have been an issue but she was rude, had an attitude and I had to continuously ask her what was going on with the wait time. She never apologized for the wait and made it seem like I was annoying her by asking. Without her, the experience would have been 5 stars hands down!
Really great restaurant. Food and service is awesome. Looking forward to get back
Very good food but when the price for 2 glasses of wine exceeds the price of the meals (SDRW) then perhaps the management could offer slightly less expensive alternatives
We had a terrible experience at this restaurant. We were sat at the worst table in the restaurant, nobody could see us, so no one came over for at least 15 minutes when we finally flagged someone down. The service was horrible. And the food was a huge disappointment. Not at all worth the money.
Always the best!!
Love the food but it is a bit crowded and so a romantic date hard to do as others can hear you. That said food was great and so was the service.
Very good combination of plating for Restaurant week. Every item in the three course was delicious. It seem that menu
has some very unque items for very traditional restaurant that previously has not change in the last 10 to 15 years. Job well done
We have never been to this restaurant before even though we drive by on a weekly basis. The inclusion by Pamplemousse of their restaurant into restaurant week gave us a chance to sample their fine cuisine. While the interior is elegant it was a bit noisy.
The food is excellent. That continues to be the reason my husband and I go back for dinners on couple’s dates, for birthdays, New Year’ Eve, fundraisers, and other celebrations. It is a solid restaurant choice for those seeking a great food dinner.
Lobster Ravioli is ok. The green Tea Noodles underneath Black Cod is way over salted.
Duck is too dry and tasteless. Service is below expectation.
As always exceptional service from Jerry, food outstanding and ambience wonderful.
The food as always was top notch...the service was below standard. My husband and I have been to this restaurant many times and consider it a favorite of ours. This last visit was not what we were used to. Our server was downright rude at times. She walked away mid-sentence to attend to another table, she didn't bring us what we asked for (wine list) instead brought a bottle of her favorite wine, was snarky in her remarks to my husband...almost offensive to our friends who were with us. She then questioned the tip % she received as we were walking out the door. Completely unprofessional and uncomfortable. If we go back and we have the same server we will request to be seated in another area.
