Pampas Palo Alto Ratings and Reviews
This is my 6th or 7th time to Pamaps and I think the food quality has been getting worse. The meat is not as juicy and it is a bit overcooked for most of the meats that I tried. I remember a few years ago, every single meats was cooked perfectly.
I still will go back if I cant find any other Brazilian steak house around the area.
I made reservations for 7:45pm and were seated promptly. We had an amazing meal, food and drinks was on point. Our waitress was sweet and suggested really great options for dessert which we ordered. We received our bill and paid while we were having our dessert. We were there a max of hour and 15mins when the manager came over and said that they have a large party waiting for our table and implied we had to leave. I paid $200 for dinner... I wasn't aware I was renting the table for a hour and 15mins. Overall food is great but management needs to be trained better on handling situations.
Excellent value for money. We paid $60 per person for an unlimited amount of high-quality meat and sides. Waiters were very responsive and the mix of meats was very good. Highly recommended for special occasions, better than average dinner or a date (but not a first date). Avoid if not a meat eater!
Fantastic waiter who spoke Portuguese and Spanish. Good food and choices for everyone.
We started at 7:30 and felt rushed. Plates taken away and other obvious prompts by several staff that they were ready to close. We were having a mom's dinner out and are hardly late nighters. At the price point, I felt we should not have had to gulp our wine and rush through the dessert.
Quality of meat is everything for these restaurants. Unfortunately, this was just above average - not bad, better than a famous Brazillian place in Beverly Hills, but not great. The meats were cooked and seasoned well, though. The pineapple was sour, meat wasn't very moist, sausages were like chewing on salty sawdust. The salad bar was alright, not as big a selection as the high end places.
The best part was their service, the food kept coming and we didn't have to look around for someone with the right skewer. When we asked for sausages, they brought them right out.
Food has deteriorated. It used to be good. Espetus and Fogo de Chao are more authentic Brazilian food. Worse thing is the waitress who didn't know her product line. Moreover, she took my guest's credit card in lieu of mine even though I had given my card at the start and explained why. She even asked me in front of the guest if it was okay to take his card. I said seriously "no" and even added that I made the reservation. She ignored that but came back later saying that they don't Diners Card (or apparently for that matter, Discover) embarrassing my guest.
I will never go back again. I'll discourage everyone I know from going there. The epitome of poor service!
The price you pay for the quality of meat is defiantly not worth it. We had the Rodizio and we were not impressed. A person can only eat so much meat and it's not worth $52. The salad bar is nothing to brag about either. We probably would've been better off and more satisfied ordering entrees instead.
We really enjoyed our experience at Pampas. The meats were well cooked and prepared. Our favorites are the leg of lamb, the fillet minion, and the tri tip. The pineapple is surprisingly good. It is recommended to go light on the salad bar because the meat will fill you up fast.
We have been here many times and have recommended to many friends, co-workers, family members, etc. The food is top notch, service can be either fair or good, and the ambiance is very comfortable and romantic. I love the brick and light fixtures! Unfortunately during this visit we had an incident with the hostess who was rude. I called ahead to see if we could arrive "a little later than 6:00 pm" (our original scheduled time) and she replies "we can do 9:00 pm" with a sharp attitude. I said "no thank you, see you at 6:00 pm" as I was hoping for maybe 6:15, 6:30 pm or somewhere "a little" later than 6:00 pm. When we arrive we were supposed to have two glasses of sparkling brought to the table as we were celebrating an early Valentine's Day. My husband called ahead to arrange this ahead of time but when we checked in with the hostess the same rude hostess tells my husband "you know they aren't free right?". Again, rude. We then waited 15 minutes for the sparkling to arrive to the table and we had to ask our server twice to bring it. Our server was very sweet and probably the best one we have had there! Too bad the hostess had such a stanky attitude.
This was LITERALLY the best dining experience I've experienced so far. My boyfriend and I celebrated an early Valentine's Day here and we decided to go with the rodizio, which is the all you can eat option. All the meats was melt in your mouth tender. Our favorites were the filet mignon, tri tip, pork loin, chicken hearts, and lamb chops. Pretty much everything, you can't go wrong with any of the options. We LOVED the chipotle steak sauce, which really enhances the flavors of the meat. Though you don't need it, since everything was seasoned perfectly. The side bar had a HUGE variety and everything tasted great especially the mushrooms! You might think it's expensive for the $51/person for the rodizio, but I believe you get your money's worth when it comes to the quantity and quality of the meat. The waitstaff was very friendly and informative. We definitely come here again and bring our families!
The service was poor. We were told that we couldn't be seated without a reservation and the restaurant was empty! We booked with open table and were seated within 5 minutes? There were very few servers circulating and we were offered the same poor cuts of meat multiple times. They were out of certain cuts of meats it was not a good experience. Save your time and money go to Fogo De Chao!
Fantastic food selection, in particular with the meats (obviously). The lamb was phenomenal and all the dishes in the side bar were great. The wine list was impressive and the service impecable. My only problem with the place was that the AC was on pretty high, so take a sweater or a jacket with you. The AC also made the meat cool down really quickly which was not the best. Still, unique dining experience and one of the best Rodizio's I've ever been to.
my main complaint is about the food, for some reason they kept trying to serve us the same chicken with bacon over and over again, until our server noticed we didn't want to eat it,then she asked if we wanted to try any specific cut of meat. So we ask for some of the lamb and and couple other cuts of meat but after they brought what we asked for the rest of the stuff keep ignoring our table.
It was quite disappointing for our first time not sure if we comeback or recommend it to any of our friends
We will just stick to espetus better service and better quality
We decided to go last-minute on a Friday night so we had choice of 5:30 or 8:30 and chose 5:30. Since there were few people there the service was superb. The only thing was that the only servers coming around were the beef guys, and there are far too many beef selections. We had to request the turkey and sausage and it took a while for them to come and by then we were full. The key is to keep your card turned to green but let the beef guys go. The skirt or flank steak was tough and the sausages were not my favorite style (too chunky) so just pick and choose the things you like and you should be good. $52 is overpriced if you can't stretch your stomach for so much food but at least they are generous.
My friend and I did the all you can eat option. We both agreed that most of the meats were quite excellent but there were a few that were just meh. We were seated in the downstairs area which was quieter and felt more intimate and the service was quite good. We both ordered drinks and were happy with our cocktails.
The Meats were overcooked and salty today. The salad bar was better then the meat. :( i liked my first visit better.
There were some dirty plates and cups that i had to have switched out multiple times.
Overall this time around i was disappointed. Our server was attentive and we tipped her well.
Out of all Brazilian steakhouses this one has the best sides. Our waiter was great. There was one server who constantly skipped our table and others did too. Once we mentioned this to our waiter, all servers stopped at our table. I suggest to request seating on the main floor. This time I was in the basement and didn't get as many servers coming with meat. Last time I sat on the main floor servers were coming to our table constantly.
Pampas is the best Churrascaria in the Bay Area. My wife is Brazilian and she's very discriminating when it comes to Brazilian food. She loves the food at Pampas. The food and service were superb on our latest visit on New Year's Eve. It's always expensive meal, but it's worth it. We were disappointed there was little acknowledgement of the holiday. There was no live music, decoration, or celebration of any kind. Given the degree to which Brazilians celebrate the New Year's Eve and the 6 hour time difference, that's disappointing and a missed opportunity for the restaurant to make money.
You get what you pay for, and this place is fairly inexpensive for churrascaria. The meat was less-than-great, and the lamb chops were very gamey. The service was excellent and the sides-bar is fantastic. The decor is great and I love the high ceiling. I would not go here again, however, since the meat is the "plat principal" and it was sub-par.
I came here many times before and this time seems down graded significantly. The meat quality was not as good as it used to. I asked for ribeye and server said "no ribeye available for rodizio". The meat selection were much less than other equivalent restaurants and we were there on a Saturday, the most busy day of the week. I would think twice if i would come back. Three stars would be a fair rating but no more than that. Hope it improves later.
