The stunning view of the Bay Bridge and the Chihuly-esque chandeliers give the Palomino a modern urban vibe. After sunset the bridge puts on a light show.
The high quality of ingredients made our entree' salads delicious! My husband was hoping for more crab in his louie. I was disappointed to find less than 1/4 tsp of quinoa and only 2 thin slices of kalamata olive in my Grilled Prawn Quinoa salad. However the prawns were grilled spot-on, and so flavorful!

I really enjoyed the salmon dish I had. My lavender martini was good but weak on the alcohol. For $10, I like to feel a little buzz.

Service was very slow to start, our drinks were flat. Took almost 10 minutes to get replacement drinks - would've expected to have them taken off the bill for an experience like this, but nothing.

Bad service aside, the food is TERRIBLE. Overcooked everything, portions that don't make sense, chewy and rubbery prawns that tasted like they were under a heat lamp for a few hours.

My go to place for an annual get together with friends. Service is always a "plus" and the menu is varied at times.

This restaurant is in desperate need of rejuvenation, from the menu, staff assignments, and the decor...a good candidate for restaurant make-over shows. For the price point the experience was underwhelming at best. This general feedback is not reflective of the server's effort or other performance factors. It will be very difficult to return to this restaurant when there are other options that seem to be on par with what I would expect, particularly the quality of the food, ambience, and location.

Palomino is always a great fall-back restaurant. This was a family get-together and we wanted to be able to talk (and hear each other!). Also, we knew there would be menu items agreeable to each of us.

I've been going to Palomino off and on for over 20 years as it's just a couple blocks from where I live. The bar is always fun, and also comfortable if I want to go on my own. A good, steady restaurant with great views of the Bay Bridge.

We chose Palomino to enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner as it offered a Thanksgiving special with everything the dinner should be including a piece of pumpkin pie. They also offered a Prime Rib plate for those that didn't want turkey and other traditional plates as well. We were not disappointed. Everything was delicious and we had a good time enjoying a nice family dinner. Great spot for pictures and a nice outdoor setting. We would love to come here again when in San Francisco.

Thanksgiving dinner reservations for a party of three were made and honored. This was a return visit from the previous year's holiday, as we had enjoyed the Palomino experience. Several minutes had passed before our waiter appeared with menus. Two cocktails were ordered: Vodka on the rocks and a Manhattan on the rocks.

Our dinner table must have been added to accommodate the holiday crowd as waiters on both sides were using the surface bordering the pillar that our table rested against to service other tables. This was noisy and distracting.

At least twenty minutes passed and our waiter had not returned. I caught the attention of another Palomino employee and asked him what had happened to our waiter. He apologized for the lack of service and offered to get our cocktails. Apparently the guests at the table behind us overheard my conversation. As they were leaving one gentleman told me they had the same disappearing waiter experience, sympathizing with our dilemma.

Waiter #2 returned quickly with our drinks and took our dinner orders. This was a very obliging, professional gentleman. I failed to get his name. but did leave a 20% tip for his salvaging our night out.
Midway through our first drink, waiter #1 appeared with a tray of two drinks: One appeared to be a manhattan up and the second looked like it might be a vodka martini up. I told him to leave with the drinks and he did a final disappearing act.

To make matters worse, when dinner was delivered, my friend's steak ordered as medium well arrived as medium rare. To avoid appearing as one of those people who just cannot be satisfied, I quietly exchanged my dinner with his. The steak was fine.

Gentlemen, the Palomino has a management problem when such incompetent people are allowed to assume positions to which they don't have a clue. The survival of any restaurant is dependent on its culinary skills, the service of its staff, and the atmosphere. You are sadly lacking in the service area.

Have not been to Palomino for some time, and was looking forward to returning to a restaurant I had enjoyed in the past for a Thanksgiving day dinner with friends. We arrived early for our reservation, and were happy to wait at the bar and have a cocktail until our table was available -- we were within easy view of the hostess, who assured us she would alert us when it was time to be seated ---- after a considerable amount of time (40 minutes) one of us went to the hostess station and asked about our table - and was told they'd been "looking for us" for some time and that the table was ready. After being seated, we had to wait a while for menus and any acknowledgement of our presence. The service was painfully slow, there was confusion and a long wait over an order for a glass of wine. We did complain to the waitress (who seemed to be doing the best she could) and the manager came over and indicated he would make an adjustment to the bill (which he did, though it was only for a couple of glasses of wine)

One of the reasons for going out to dine is to be waited on - we all had the impression that it was more a management failure than our particular waitress that let us down. The food was good,
but the experience was frustrating, and not the delightful event we had looked forward to.

On occasion I have had business meals at Palomino. In the past, the service was exceptional. However, on this occasion with 8 colleagues, we waited nearly an hour for our food once it was ordered. After asking the server about the delay, he said the restaurant was down a chef. Since we were on a tight timeline, we had to quickly eat our meal, pay the bill, and leave. This is unacceptable for business lunches. I expect more from Palomino.

The location of this restaurant is what makes it worth going. It is right next to the beautiful Bay bridge and the Embarcadero. The restaurant is moderately upscale and has a nice decor. Also a nice patio with great views. Service was good. My only complaint was that the food was just a litte better than average, nothing special. It just should have been prepared a little better.

It’s a casual place with a nice view. Host was awesome. Waiter forgot us multiple times. It’s a loud place so not a business meeting place. Open table listed as a business meal place. No way you can hear each other to talk anything.

We went on a Monday night. It was not crowded and so it was quiet, comfortable, with good views of the bridge lights. Food ranged from OK to very good. Prices are quite reasonable for San Francisco. Deserts were popular with my fellow diners. Service was friendly and efficient.

It has been a few years. Palomino’s does not serve the fresh baked bread with the meals anymore. I was looking forward to it. The sister restaurants: Horatio’s & Kincaid’s still serve fresh baked bread. Very few restaurants serve bread. I was a bit disappointed when the server missed one thing - the Caesar salad to be served with the dressing on the side. Ice the dressing is on it we could not split it. The dressing was way too much. Other than that it was a nice meal.

Usually the food is pretty good but on this visit the chicken Marsala was disappointing. Small portio and the meat wad poorly trimmed. There were pockets of fibrous material on the meat - chewy and off-putting. Carlos was the brite spot with his usual great service.
