Jason our server ( african american handsome man) is friendly and attentive. We asked for recommendations and said that we made excellent choices for our meal. We started off w/the seafood & artichoke dip w/crispy pita. Shared a seafood louie salad. As for main course, filet mignon, house burger, and mahi mahi. Cannot pass up on dessert, creme brulee and tiramisu. Everthing was delicious!!! The tiramisu however was more like a chocolate cake rather the lady fingers i was hoping for. Oh and house bread w/ marinera was delish! Also ordered paella and another mahi mahi for togo! Considering of coming back maybe for Mothers day.
We hadn't seen some friends for 34 years and picked this place to have our first dinner in years.
They sat us right near the window with a view of the bay bridge at night .
Very good ambience and great food.
Server was wonderful! The best!
Made reservation for Window seating. Received a call @ Noon that day and was confirmed for Window seating. Called 15mins before reservation and re-confirmed window seating. Arrived at restaurant and hostess seated a group the same size of mine that arrived after me and has reservations at the same time. Hostess informed me that they did not have any window seating even though that was what I requested and confirmed 2x before I arrived. I agreed to wait @ the bar until window table was available. I ended up waiting 50mins after my reservation and was not given an adequate table as I specifically asked for when I made the reservation.
I know window seat can't be guaranteed, but when I confirmed 2x before my reservation to have a window seat, it should have been honored. Additionally when they called @ noon to confirm the reservation I had stated that I could come earlier or later than my reservation so that they can accommodate my request. The hostess failed to honor the agreement. 1 star for this experience. I live on Howard & Spear just a block away and I will likely NEVER return because of how they failed to honor my request. Additionally, it was noted as a special event and they did nothing to make it feel special. It's disgusting how they treat someone who's been a patron for over 5 years.
Consistent quality food and ambiance. Had the Pistachio crusted Mahi and it was really good.
The Palomino was the perfect choice to impress out of town relatives. The loved the location, the decor and the food. The think we will do this again sometime.
This place needs a management overhaul. I've been here many times. The restaurant wasn't crowded at 1pm on a gorgeous Saturday but the staff was constantly missing in action. The waiter must have been receiving training on the system because they made our lunch but not one dish was what we ordered. It took over an hour to get our lunch (at 2:15), there were kids screaming & crying at a nearby table which no one asked them to tone it down. All in all, they don't have any leadership & it was disorganized. The food was ok but seemed slapped together.
Unfortunately, either the cooking and or the food quality was poor. My date ordered the Hot Italian Sausage pizza, and the sausage looked like it came from a can or it wasn't Italian sausage it was weird looking. We ordered the Tipsy clams & mussels - some of both the clams and mussels were filled with blow-back sludge inside of the clams & mussels. I mentioned it to my server, and the response he was given to deliver to me was: "this happens." I ordered a med-well steak and fries, my steak was delivered well done and very dry.
However, the cocktails were perfect! I had two great cosmopolitans.
Fanastic location and view of the Bay Bridge along with a delightful outdoor patio. Prices were reasonable. Portions were a little small but tasty. Service was very good.
The service was excellent.
Pre ballgame meal.
Four of us went to Palomino for my 60th birthday. What a great ambience and view! We have several seafood entrées plus appetizers and dessert. Our waiter, Wes, was exceptional! Don’t hesitate to visit Palomino.
Delicious and great service
We spent the first night of our honeymoon here. They sat us at a window booth with an amazing view of the Bay bridge. They gave us privacy to enjoy ourselves while being very attentive at the same time. Great with special requests and gifted us a dessert! Not super high end but a nice place for a date or occasion and it was perfect for us.
Palomino's menu has something for everyone and the atmosphere is lively. We met some friends there on our last night in San Francisco. Waiter was helpful with our time constraints and very attentive. The orange donut holes were a delicious and unique dessert that we all enjoyed!
Menu selections sound good on paper but were really unpalatable. I've never seen my husband turn away pasta before tonight.
The restaurant is pretty and has gorgeous views of the Bay Bridge which is gorgeous at night. Food and service are great and it’s import in SF to have such available free parking (restaurant validated parking in underground garage) so disabled access is easy.
Our waiter was the absolute best. He was from Nigeria and spoke like 4 languages. Super friendly and constant check in’s. Would love to see him everytime I visit!
Good for casual dining. Standard American fare. The chicken selections are good. I really like the roast chicken. I don't recommend the fish dishes, they're usually overcooked and pretty salty. Hamburger is good, but the bun doesn't hold up. The pasta dishes are little rich and salty. High marks for service. The server was very attentive and friendly, checking to see if everything was OK, but never intrusive.
Won’t go back
Horrible services, descrimination, not good food. I will never go back to the restaurant in my entire life.
Our waiter was very friendly and tried his best. However, there didn't seem to be enough wait staff. Never saw a bus person assisting our poor waiter who was overworked. Service, therefore, was very slow. We asked for a table by the window and it didn't happen until we asked. Food was good. Reasonable wine prices for SF.
My boyfriend and I had an amazing, memorable night . Love this! We will definitely be back
The waiter was very nice. However, I don’t think he was very experienced at providing a service. We had ordered coffee with breakfast and had expected to receive it in a reasonable period of time. We reminded him that we ordered coffee when we received our meals. We had to ask the busboy for a second cup for we hadn’t seen our waiter for 20 minutes. Later the waiter was pouring coffee to the table next to us and skipped over us. We had to ask for more coffee.
We apparently entered from the wrong door but we parked on the street and it seemed like the obvious choice.
After feeling uncomfortable standing around wondering if we were in the right place, I asked a busboy where the front desk was.
The food was mostly very good in a way you don’t expect Italian food to be.
Our server seemed timid and awkward but not in a way like he was new or unsure of the menu. He seemed very well informed but probably not the personality type to speak to people.
This visit was for my birthday. I chose Palomino because I've been a fan of both the Seattle and the San Francisco locations for some time. I was not disappointed on this visit. The downpour that night delayed us all by about a half hour. I was very happy that the staff seated us right away. The food was terrific, as usual, and Wes, our server, was the best. He was lots of fun and thoroughly professional and efficient. I'll look forward to sitting in his section again.
The location is good - close to Embarcadero -but the restaurant is rather basic and does not have character. Food was marginal, service was sloppy
Palominos is my go to for any occasion, the food is always amazing, the service is always great and the ambiance is to die for.
Always excellent Service, great food, clean environment
Food was awful. I mean awful. Chicken was cold, dishes were not prepared as requested. The only thing going for this place is the view.
A really disappointing evening: reservation wasn't ready (20 minute wait), though the restaurant was far from full; service was slow and incorrect (wrong dishes); food was mediocre... Palomino used to be dependably good; apperently, no longer.
We go to Palomino often and the resteraunt is dependably good. This time our server was a young kid who wasn't very good and kept us waiting too long until the rest of the staff bailed him out. We still like the place, management just needs to pay bit of attention when this staff member has the lead.
Excellent food and view. Our waiter was terrific.
I requested a window table but the hostess said it was unavailable even though tables were empty. Your website states window tables are on a first come basis only. I was so disappointed and was offered no explanation. I felt hostess was a tad condescending. Food was really good but service needs a lot of improvement.
The view of the bridge from our table was especially nice.
We went here for an out-of-town family get-together on a weeknight. Got there early (about 4:30) and the bar was not crowded, so we got a table next to the patio with a great view. But, by 5ish, the place was almost packed! Good prices at Happy Hour (which lasts all night), so no surprise there. Almost anywhere you sit has a great view of the Bay bridge and the ambiance was perfect to show off our great city. It was too cold for us on the patio, but I can imagine that would be wonderful on a warmer night. For dinner, we moved to a round table that was just right for our party of 8. Reasonable prices, not too loud, better than average food, and a nice setting - perfect for us!
Fresh and delicious local ingredients
Service is not terrific. The view is nice but atmosphere was more touristy then I prefer. Food is very mediocre.
I love this place! This was my 3rd visit, and I was not disappointed. I like the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the food. A great place for a first date!
