I had a birthday dinner. Service was good and very accommodating. A tad bit slow but it was okay. We all enjoyed anyways. Food was good.
No vegetarian options in the dinner menu. Also, they have a menu which couldn't be customised to change meat options.
Not well managed. Only one server on the patio. The restaurant needs deep cleaning, better food, better servers and managers.
We were looking forward to a nice dinner out and have always wanted the try Palomino. I was a little put off by the prior reviews, but figured we would give it a try. Unfortunately, it really was just a so-so experience. We had a great table with a beautiful view, but that turned out to be the high point. Like others have said, we ordered drinks and they took a very long time to be delivered. We got the Brussels sprouts appetizer and they were so tough, we could barely cut them with a knife, never mind try to chew them. The food was quite tasty but all the meals for our table were literally only lukewarm when served. It seems like they could do some remedial work to bring the quality of his restaurant up a notch or two, but until that happens I wouldn’t go back.
The food was good, however it took way to long to come. The waiter/waitress was nice but it even took like 20 minutes for us to get our cards back after we paid.
Had a business lunch of 4 and ordered the Pesto Mahi Mahi dish recommended by our waiter and the others ordered the chicken marsala, pizza and calamari fritti. Right from the start, the waiter mixed up our drink orders and we had to swap our drinks with each other. We should have taken that as a sign but we kept our hope for a good lunch. Unfortunately, both orders of the Mahi Mahi were overcooked and the pasta was room temperature. The chicken marasala was good but the side of pasta was gummy and room temperature. We don't understand why we were being rushed as the waiter tried to clear our plates when we were clearly not done with our meals. Looking around, there were plenty of empty tables and there was no need to rush us on a weekday. And, to end our meal, the waiter proceeded to give us the dessert menus before we finished our meals. I don't know what has happened to Palomino but it has gone downhill with the food and service but at least it still has a great view.
Had a reservation but was not needed on a Sunday night. Read previous reviews and they were mixed. But it was close by and seemed to be reasonably priced.
Service was just ok. I ordered a cocktail qnd ot did not come unt just before the entree. We had appetizers as well. The waiter told us the reason for the delay of the cocktain was because they had to go into the back to get the alchohol. The cocktail was one of their soecialties on the menu. It was a very lame excuse.
The Sunday Fixed Price 3 course dinner showed on line as costing $25.00 but the menu price when we got there was $30.00. I ordered the Shrip Scampi and my partner ordered the Ponne Fties. Both the shrimp and the steak were overcooked.
Would not recommend this place if you are looking for a good meal.
They need to bring back the pasta salad that used to come with the turkey/blue cheese/bacon sandwich at brunch. The fries don't cut it. Our waitress was overwhelmed with very little help and much of our order was missing or incorrect. More help needed to be hired for Sunday brunch, especially on a day when the SF Marathon was taking place.
The divot in the granite wine chiller threw off my train of thought as I hypothesized allegorical references to the state of modern society. Also, the spaghetti was lit af.
Our dinner knocked it out of the park. The salmon and scallops were wonderful and that chocolate tiramisu absolutely melted in our mouths! One suggestion: every time we've dined at Palomino, we've noticed the wooden partitions separating areas and tables are very dusty and covered with pieces of food. Might be a good idea to dust and clean around the entire restaurant daily :)
We celebrated our friend’s birthday and the manager gave us his best table with a view of The Bay Bridge. Our server was amazing, but the food was decent.
I submitted a reservation through open table. I specifically asked for a round table so I may speak to the conference easily . Upon my arrival they tried to squeeze us in a small booth . I am not sure if open table was the cause of the confusion. And if I should even use open service again. Additionally and surprisingly the place wasn't buys so we should have received optimal service . However most times we had to search for the servicer just to get our drinks refilled. However the food was great and I will be back to give them a second chance. This time I will call directly instead of using open table .
Carlos, our server, was not only good - he was exceptional! Very attentive, courteous and accommodating. After passing by Palomino's 10, 000 times, we received a gift card and decided to eat there Monday nite. Thoroughly impressed, and plan to return. Will definitely request Carlos next time.
Great food. Got there a little early but excellent bar service while we waited. Good service in the dining room. Interesting menu
The food quality was not that good. The food came out way too fast, but the drinks took at least 10 minutes each time. We ordered fried calmari, and it came out 5 minutes later, but wasn't hot. Clearly wasn't fried for us. Our entrees came out 10 minutes after we ordered. We could have been out the door in 30 minutes, which wasn't the experience I'm looking for when I'm paying $25-30 an entree. The 4 cheese pasta was mostly cheese (even my 10 and 12 year old thought it was just a "blob of cheese." My shrimp and quinoa salad was ok, too much vinaigrette and was a weird temperature, not hot or cold. Waiter was great, got us free dessert because the drinks were so slow.
The restaurant was very crowded and noisy, but our waiter did a great job and our orders appeared pretty quickly, especially because a large group of about 40 people just walked into the restaurant. The appetizers were very good, as were the drinks. I brought a bottle of wine and the corkage was only $13, pretty good for SF.
We had a nice window seat for our group of 5, celebrating a birthday. They comped one of the desserts for the birthday person.
The only negative on the food was the red snapper appeared to be overcooked. The steelhead was excellent.
Nice restaurant for after work drinks and appetizers or a meal. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic location, this is not it.
Server was very engaged and kind; love the modern yet cozy feel!
This might be a one-off as my Palomino burger was terrible. I requested a medium rare patty and got well done. It was not the juicy burger I had come to love. Everyone else had an excellent meal.
Went here with my mom for a couple of appetizers Wow the service was great and everyone just looked very happy to be there, management was buzzing around helping to ensure everything was running smoothly. Thanks for a GREAT time.
Our server & his team gave us a great experience. We will return soon!! Good food, nice view!
I have eaten at Palomino many times over the last 15 years. This was by far one of the worst meals I have ever had at the restaurant. I ordered the shrimp scampi with pasta. The shrimp was dry and over cooked. The waiter offered to send my meal back to the kitchen. I declined- I was too hungry to wait another 20 minutes. My sister had to send her meal back as well. It was poorly seasoned. I was very disappointed that I did not have a meal that was tasty and satisfying. I will not return to the restaurant.
Ambience is good with a view of the Bay Bridge. Service is friendly and attentive, accommodating dietary restrictions. Food is tasty.
Outstanding overall.. Excellent Service Always...Great location
Good food, great portion sizes. Good view of Bay Bridge. Service could be better however. Waiter forgot to take a drinks order when seating and didn’t clear glasses or plates that had been finished with. Little things that make the difference were not present.
Used to go to the Minneapolis Palomino and wanted to return to one for my favorite Chop chop salad. SF did not disappoint. Salad excellent. Scallops nice but not quite as good. Place apparently a good venue for work groups. Lots of party atmosphere
Came for lunch/brunch on Saturday with friends and had a wonderful meal. The only drawback was that the service was slow. It took quite a while to get our drinks, which was important because it was such a hot day.
Great service and great view. Good food.
most of the meal was great with the exception of the prosciutto and asparagus with burrata appetizer. the prosciutto was thick, not thin sliced like one expects and it was rolled into a lump, quite chewy and relatively tasteless. it could have been plain ham as far as we could tell.
We had a wonderful experience. Our waiter made great food and beer recommendations for us (the donuts for dessert were amazing). We went at 8:00 on a Saturday night and it was busy but not crowded.
Service was poor
Service was excellent and the food was great! I would give it 10/5 stars if I could!
Palomino's food is always tasty and the service is always lacking. They started pretty strong, accommodating a happy hour menu request for waffle fries during lunch, but it took forever to get a glass of wine for our friend who arrived later and service generally fell off after we ordered. Appreciated the generous portion of chicken on the lunch salad.
Had to ask for menus, no tables were set with silverware, food was horrible, don’t know how they are a 5 star place. Taco trucks give better service.
A very nice location but the restaurant was too busy and the ambiance not what I expected for a special occasion. The food was just average though service was great and efficient.
Friends quick bday lunch - yum!
They really need to have Shrimp Cocktail on their brunch appetizer menu and need to have sausage gravy and biscuits on their general brunch menu. Brunch is not the same without sausage gravy and biscuits. SMH.
Everything here was awesome. My wife and I brought a friend here for his birthday and ALL of us were absolutely pleased. Service was on point and the food was exceptional.
A Definite Must For Any Occasion !
Went here for dinner before my senior prom and they were so fast and amazing service with delicious food for a reasonable prom menu with reasonable prices
Overall very good. Chain type of food but on the higher end. Good value.
The quality of the calamari appetizer was a real disappointment, very little calamari and more vegetable and batter.
The Americano coffee was terrible, very weak and watered down, sent it back for a regular cup of coffee.
I hope this restaurant was just having an off day during the Memorial Day weekend (Saturday). I like the location for our family get togethers.
