This is one of my favorite places to go. I always enjoy the good food and service. This night my friend and I were enjoying dinner just the two of us relaxing and enjoying ourselves and the holidays.
Tiramisu dessert was fantastic. So much so that my dining companion wanted another piece to go!
My sage salmon was seared perfectly (medium rare on the inside with a crisp exterior) while my dining companion's steelhead was baked to perfection.
Palomino should consider seasonal offerings to vary their menu a bit. For frequent diners, the regular menu items have remained unchanged for years.
Ambiance of the restaurant was top notch with a view of the Embarcadero and the service is usually pretty good but, depends on the waiter.
We made reservations thru OpenTable for Sunday dinner which was our early holiday dinner. We always enjoyed Palominos drinks, appetizers and million dollar bay views. We were 30 mins late for our reservation due to multiple traffic delays coming from EB. The restaurant was very accommodating and held our reservation. The drinks and appetizers were delicious as always. We had entrees as well but for some reason the entrees are always served warm/cold. The plate was hot but the food was warm/cold. The restaurant was about 20% full so I am not sure why our entrees were served warm/cold. Again, this is not the first time - it’s been pretty consistent and that’s why we stopped going for the past year. Still love their Happy Hour selections. Our serving staff is friendly so not an issue at all. Just want our food served hot fresh from the oven/stove.
great food, great atmosphere, great service, and great views
Recommend that you have bread pudding all year long, changing out the different seasonal fruit in it.
I really enjoyed celebrating my birthday here. The lady server was awesome (sorry I didn't get her name). We had dinner on a Sunday night around 6:00 pm and we were seated where you can view the bright lights of the Bay Bridge. It was great! I highly recommend this place for any celebration.
Momma's birthday was relaxing and easy, we chose the prixe fixe for 25$ - the serving sizes were perfect Individual servings, everyone got exactly what they wanted and each plate well done. My bro-inlaw wants the chivken marsala recipe !
This was a disappointing dining experience. We arrived at 7pm, and were seated immediately. We didn't get our drinks until 7:25pm. We never understood why. The bar wasn't packed. Did someone forget? The server needed more training. I don't think he had waited tables before. He didn't know the soup of the day. One of the chef's selections was sold-out but he didn't know until after we ordered. Again, a half-empty restaurant and a chef's selection is not available??? The restaurant hasn't changed in at least 15 years. Really in need of an update throughout.
For some reason they seated all of the large parties in one area which meant it was incredibly loud and cramped to the point where the wait staff couldn't easily negotiate our table. There was an extremely loud party right behind us which completely drowned out any conversation I and my friends were trying to have. We were there to celebrate three birthdays and to have a nice time. As time went on, it got louder and louder until we just decided to cut our time short and leave. I don't even think we finished our desserts.
I've eaten at Palomino many times in the past, but not for a few years and I see that the clientele has changed to a much younger, more boisterous crowd. And why they sat all of the large parties in one cramped area is beyond me. As we made out way out of the restaurant, there were many unoccupied tables and a much calmer atmosphere. I was disappointed.
I was looking for a last minute reservation for six at a restaurant along the Embarcadero, and Palomino is great for that. The menu is diverse enough that everyone can find something they’ll be happy to eat, and the food is consistently good. It also is a pleasant, white tablecloth venue with fabulous views, so dining there feels like a special occasion.
Great food & Service! Fantastic location! Highly recommend Palomino's!
Great experience :-)
Was there for thanksgiving dinner, food was great but service was below average. For the price service does not match the quality of food. I won't be back.
Thanksgiving dinner, but we ordered off the regular menu.
We went to palomino for our Thanksgiving celebration. We were seated right away. Or server was so kind and friendly and efficient. We both ordered a traditional Turkey dinner. It was fabulous! Overall we had a wonderful experience!
Mushroom soup was awful. Calamari was ok.
Table was beautiful. Server was lovely.
They were just too busy and under staffed.
Thanksgiving dinner here is a personal tradition. Ambiance is excellent, and the food is usually very good. This year service was rushed, but the manager made it right.
Food was good and had a good portion.
Thanksgiving turkey dinner was excellent. For the most part. I did request the mashed potatoes to be thicker and less liquidy. My waiter brought an additional side of mashed potatoes which were better. Appreciated this. Wait service was attentive and accommodating. Hostess at reception was also friendly and accommodating. View of bay bridge all lit up was gorgeous. We had a wonderful dining experience.
I’ll get right into it. We visited Palomino on Nov 22, 2018. One of the reasons we picked the Palomino is because the previous reviews mentioned the view of the Oakland bridge. When we got there we were seated in the bar area away from the windows so there was no view. I asked the hostess to be moved. We were moved to the restaurant area near a window, which was nice.
As we were walking to our new table my wife noticed the floors were very dirty and the restaurant needed an upgrade. Our server was nice, but the food was just ok.
Sorry Palomino we will not be returning.
One of the best restaurants in San Francisco, great location, easy Access, tasty menu
Service was well intentioned but clumsy
We had not been to Palomino for many years as we moved out of the Bay Area. However, the food was just as good as we remembered.
Seated promptly at reservation time, service was friendly and efficient, night view of Bay Bridge was interesting, and the food was very good. All and all a very pleasant experience and exceeded expectations
Horrible service, under seasoned food. Great view of the bridge lights.
Such good food!! I loved this spot, amazing experience.
Our cocktails Took at least 30 minutes to come out...once our order was finally taken, that took another 35 minutes. I ordered gluten free pasta and they brought me regular gluten pasta. Had to send it back after I was able to confirm with the chef that they sent me the wrong pasta.
Enjoyed the Martini night.
New “baby” meeting friends...
The drinks and view from the patio we're great. The server we had Sat Oct 27th in the evening was terrible!!!!! After er he brought us our drinks we never saw him again! We could see him walking around inside talking and laughing completely ignoring us.
The one bright spot was the waitress working the patio that night! She was very helpful and attentive, we actually tiped her and not I server.
Our server was very kind
Kudos to our server
Thanks a lot
Worst service, terrible food, highly over priced! We walked out after appetizers! Will never dine here again and will not recommend. My fellow foodies/restaurant critics try a new restaurant in San Francisco once a month. This one was our worst yet.
We have in the past loved Palomino the service was always great and the server's to the bus boys were always friendly. Today the service was horrible and the all looked miserable plus it took forever to get the food. We order one cup of a coffee which we had to remind the server which was served without a spoon my guest had to use her fork. The restaurant was not full there was probably four tables with two servers. We had the crab and artichoke dip which was excellent every time we stopped eating it and were just talking the server asked if she should take it we said no. My guest only wanted soup and I wanted a salad after the appetizer the server asked my guest salad would take awhile would you like your soup now. We told her no. Then it took awhile to get water glasses filled we had to wave her down for water and a dessert menu. We ordered a dessert then the check came before the dessert. It was just weird. The food was good but it will be a long time to go back.
We chose Palomino to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. We had an amazing view of the Bay Bridge all lit up. Our server, Wes, was attentive and very sweet. Our group had a great time, and there was something for everyone on the menu.
We had a waiter who was in training and he was very kind and helpful to all of us. It was a birthday lunch for a friend and we all enjoyed the food, the ambience and the service!
Service was a little slow today...glad we had the extra time.
Nice evening with a great view of the Bay Bridge. We were a party of 5 celebrating a birthday and post theatre (matinee). Almost a 2 mile walk from the Golden Gate theatre, so you may want to Uber in, but a pleasant walk on Market to Embarcadero if the weather is nice. Our waitress Laura D was fun and patient.
Dinner and cocktails were very reasonable and very good, seafood Louie, chicken marsala and filet. Great night!
