Palomino - Bellevue Ratings and Reviews
My family went out for a Mother's Day dinner. Appetizers took a long time to get to our table. Crab artichoke dip was on par . That's the highlight. After that everything was a wait. And it was busy when we first entered, but we were still waiting for food and tables around us were empty. It took over 30 minutes for our food to get to the table. When requesting A1 sauce, it was forgotten by our waiter and another female Waiter got in under 1 minute after a 15 minute wait. I think we also waited a while for the bill to arrive. The food was decent, but from the waiting we were all a bit frustrated because we do like palominos and it was a special family get together.
To be fair, we had a large party (7) and it was Mother's Day so you expect service to be somewhat slow but it took forever to get drinks and our meals, whenever we saw our waitress somebody's drink was dry and had been waiting awhile to order another one and then it took forever for her to return. Food was ok. Nothing special to write home about but nothing bad either.
Server Justin was friendly but restaurant seemed busy and understaffed. It was Mother's Day evening. Servers who brought out dishes did not know which dish belonged to whom. Short ribs with mashed cauliflower was outstanding! But the Fettucine Alfredo was horrible. Noise level was too loud for the elderly members of our party. Server Justin was very attentive to the birthday we were celebrating and brought out a comp'd dessert with lighted candle. :-)
This is the second time in a row we've tried to do brunch at Palomino and we've had a bad service experience. They opened at 11:00 for brunch and our reservation wasn't until 11:30 but they still didn't have the Bloody Mary bar set up yet, so we couldn't use it.
The service is extremely slow. Food is pretty good but it took way too long to get drinks and food.
We came here for breakfast on Mother's Day. We really enjoyed our service and most of the food was wonderful. I had ordered the eggs benedict which is my guilty pleasure when eating out for breakfast and the hollandaise was very thick and eggs were a bit over done. Would be nice if the description of the eggs benedict said there was a bit a kick to the hollandaise, I don't mind spicy but it was a bit overwhelming at first since I was not expecting that. We had to ask for our toast that came with one of our meals and the side of bacon that we had ordered but our server took very good care of us despite the busy morning.
Girlfriend and I chose to go here for dinner. Made reservations for 8 pm - not seated until 8:25 pm. Wait staff were very overworked, long wait for food and refills. Chicken parm breading was mushy / rubbery. The manager was nice enough to comp the meal and give us a replacement however the burgers were not very good either. Very noisy due to events (appeared to be a prom)- still they seemed to just not be ready.
Our server Sue was a delight. Warm, attentive & friendly. Felt like having a meal with a friend. Our food - chicken parm for one, scallops with asparagus risotto for the other - was delicious. Scallops were cooked perfectly & the the chicken parm, often rubbery or overwhelmed with marinara and cheese, was well balanced. Be aware, portions are substantial. Also worth noting - the complementary starter, tomato-olive-feta relish served with focaccia bread, is excellent!
I was very disappointed with the food. Honestly if I wanted Spicy food I would have gone to a Mexican place, not Italian; My Chicken Parmigiano was way too spicy to eat. Had to send it back for the Chicken Marsala and that was Ok but too much butter for my taste. At least the waitress was nice about it; it was the first time i ever had to send a dish back. My partner's dish was also moderately spice but edible...
I will definitely return, but this experience was not nearly as good as in the past. The breakfast sausage patty had a weird taste and was uncomfortably spicy (I love spicy food, but my husband does not and it was still spicy to me but it was on his plate.) Our server was clearly in the weeds, so she was trying. I saw she had several tables. Just wish my server would have received more help - unsure if she asked for any. We waited a very long time for the check and nearly as long for it to be picked up. A fellow server grabbed the payment to run our two cards for payment and I wish it would've been her top priority. She entered an order or two into the computer and spent time speaking with the kitchen. I nearly walked up to her, I was becoming more impatient as the clock ticked. I finally saw her run our payments and at this same moment our server approached this new server then returned our cards.
Our food was pretty good, not great but our service was lacking in a big way. Slow drinks to start and not even an offer after that. Sat with empty dishes on the table for half an hour before our waiter showed up and never even acknowledged his lack of attentiveness. Heard him comping the table behind us, likely not a good experience for them either. Not excited to return anytime soon
We dined here on Sunday for lunch and it was delicious. The two men had paninis that were served with the most delicious frites. We two gals had kale salad, full of flavor with pumpkin seeds and golden raisins. We also enjoyed a side of portobello mushroom soup. For dessert, we all shared the orange ricotta- filled hot donuts. These are served with side dips of raspberry sauce and a Nutella chocolate sauce. We all enjoyed our dining experience and will return again.
Reservation system thru Open Table worked great. Was seated right away. Service was good. Didn't feel pushed so they could turn the table. Food was fine....Bummed that they ran out of 2 of the desserts...cake I can understand, but Creme Brulee'? Don't they make it on site?
Weird smell when entering, could have been the carpet from being wet from people tracking it from the rain? Anyway was seated immediately, our waitress was great, don't remember her name, she was from Russia. We ordered the crab/artichoke dip. My son and I liked it, my husband got a bad tasting piece of crab which didn't agree with him. We ordered Chicken Marsala, Capicola Pizza, Steak Frites. The chicken Marsala was great. The pizza tasted good but was soggy in the middle because the crust was so thin. The steak wasn't great, and as my husband was feeling more awful after eating the crab, he only took 2 bites of steak, and we had to send it back. The waitress was very sympathetic to him and took it with no problem, she quickly brought his free dessert because it was his birthday. She took the steak off the bill. We had a bite of the Tiramisu, and that was good too.
Wait staff were very accommodating. We came for Sunday brunch- menu was limited. We asked if kitchen would do artichoke dip to share- not on menu for brunch- & they were very obliging- best thing we ate! would be great if brunch menu was expanded to include more options...
Had a business lunch at the restaurant. When we entered, the restaurant was fairly empty. We had a reservation and got seated right away. The food took a very long time to arrive and one of my guests had to have it packaged to go. The waiter said that a large party got their order in just before ours which delayed ours significantly. The food was very good. If you are not in a hurry, this is definitely a good restaurant; however, before you book a business lunch or lunch meal there, find out what the kitchen backup is like. We would have likely gone to a different restaurant had we known.
I have been there several times before, so I knew what to expect and I was expecting something better. This time however the overall experience was not that good. Service was not really great - even that there were very few guests, the servant was not paying attention (forgot things). We didn't enjoyed the crab artichoke dip. The prawn scampi was not really that great either (small size prawns, spaghetti not fresh as advertised).
On the plus side was the Organic Rotisserie Chicken. Good taste, good quality, decent amount of food. I give this one a thumbs-up.
All in all not such a great experience this time, however I still recommend this place assuming that this visit was an outlier from the usually good experience.
We came in for brunch, with reservations. Took 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge our existence, another 5 to get coffee, and over an hour to get our food. They were out of potatoes, and substituted fruit without giving us any other options. After requesting a children's menu for our 5 year-old twice with no results, I finally had to go and wait 5 minutes at the host stand to get one. When our food finally arrived, our scrambled eggs had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for some time, and were dry and hard around the edges. My daughter's "berry parfait" contained zero berries and lots of melon, which she won't eat. And, the food was WAY over-priced. We love the Palomino in Seattle, but will not be back to the Bellevue location.
I took a friend for a birthday lunch. The food was way over-priced. I had the salad/sandwich combo which was 15.50. The sandwich was all bread with a little turkey. The salad tasted good but again lacking in ingredients. My friend had a salad for 14.00 and no bread.
I won't be back.
