Palomino - Bellevue Ratings and Reviews
We have dined at Palomino before and been impressed with the staff and their ability to work with us to customize their menu for special food allergies. This trip however was different. Our waitress, although kind, was pretty clueless about their menu and gave us inaccurate information about one of the dishes so my daughter consumed a food that could make her very sick! We also waited more than 20 minutes to get a drink and then over an hour to get our food. I will still trying going back another time, to see if this was just a fluke, but was disappointed with our overall experience
A group of eight of us went there for a business meal and the food and service was terrific. It was made even nicer when or server Ashley let us know that Wednesday was half price wine. We will definitely be back. We booked through Open Table about 20 minutes before the time and the table was ready for us when we arrived.
Had a great waiter which always helps. He was informative but did not push anything. The food was good quality and amply portions. I always love the chop salad but others had the salmon off the fresh sheet and said it was good. The lemondrops were good and the wine choices by the glass were good and reasonable.
The first thing I will say is that I am not a fan of Italian food. If you like Italian food, you would probably like Palomino. We decided to try it because they sent us a coupon. Servers were great. Ambience was modern and clean but a touch loud. I’m just a not a fan of Italian food. Heavy on the olive oil and garlic.
The food really isn't great. We went on New Year and the menu is limited to holiday menu. It is an Italian restaurant and there is no pasta and pizza on the holiday menu which is kind of going against their brand. Their mushroom soup is great, but the prime rib is a huge disappointment.I feel like I can cook better than that. The service is fine. Good environment.
Overall fair/good food. The food was done well. Exceptions are the price and the contents. If you order a dish that advertises lamb there should be more than 3-4 small pieces of lamb in the dish. Close to $30 for a bowl of ravioli is not what I expected when I ordered the dish. What there was of the lamb was cooked nice and tasted good. Just not content with the prices they were charging for food that quality-wise should be in $15-20 range.
Good service; it was her first shift post-training and she was very good.
Atmosphere: Lots of kids doing what kids do; making noise. Surprised so many kids in the restaurant after 7 pm. Not Palomino's fault. Just added to the overall sub par occasion.
I'll start by saying we are fans of Palomino, having frequented the Seattle restaurant for many years. Since moving to the eastside, we have dined twice at the Bellevue Palomino, in the bar. This week, we made a reservation on Wed night for a post Christmas holiday dinner out, in the dining room side of the restaurant. We enjoyed our meals, took advantage of the half-price wine by the bottle special, and our waitress was lovely. But ... for some reason, the kitchen was very s-l-o-w, when the restaurant seemed only moderately busy. We waited 50+ minutes between the time our starter plates were cleared and our entrees arrived. And then, when we checked the dessert offerings there were only 3, literally - because the 3rd dessert choice was a "selection of sorbets and gelatos." When we asked about flavors, there was only Pistachio! We will give Palomino the benefit of the doubt that this visit's experience is atypical for their dining room. Overall, Palomino is a good value with a solid menu, reasonable prices, and good wine selection.
Ordered wild sockeye salmon cooked on a cedar plank. The fish was probably 2 oz, over cooked and stuck to the plank. $27.00 seemed way too expensive for a really mediocre entree. Vegetable consisted of maybe 10 pieces of what I think was potato and two Brussels sprouts. We ate at 5:30 pm on Christmas Day and they were already out of at least one entree or two. Gelato choice for dessert was chocolate amaretto cherry, with only three other dessert choices. The only good part of dinner was Marionberry sorbet. Really disappointing for a holiday dinner out.
Hadn't been to Palomino for years and always remembered it as a great experience in Seattle before a Broadway show. Made the mistake of making reservations for Christmas Day at Palomino Bellevue. They sat us at a table right in the back up against the kitchen; it was so noisy I couldn't hear my husband sitting right next to me. Then all the kitchen smoke; being allergic to smoke, my eyes were closing off. Asked the manager to move us and he did. But we were then put in the back of the restaurant in a cold, super bright area; not great ambience at all on a cold winter night on Christmas. The food was not great either. They had a Christmas day menu but they were out of all the options I was interested in; ended up having a chop salad. A chop salad! On Christmas day! :( Husband said, "never again". Agreed.
Christmas Day dinner. Had reservations but was seated at worst possible table way in the back, chilly, no decorations on table or anywhere back there. Food was marginal. Salmon $40 - that was it. No side. $9 for a potato. Prime rib was smokey tasting. Highlight was there "donut" dessert with nutella & raspberry. Service acceptable. Downtown Palomino is outstanding, Bellevue no. Very disappointed.
We had a wonderful time on Christmas Eve, after the Snowflake Lane parade and with a genuinely spectacular snow falling outside. The food was quite good, and the service met expectations for a very expensive evening. The restaurant was cozy and felt special with holiday decor. We went knowing that we were splurging on a very expensive meal... However, we were a bit shocked by the bill for our party of 3. We shared one appetizer, and one of the lower-priced bottles of red wine ...but had no dessert and split only 2 entrees between us, so the $200 bill (Plus tip)...well, it was a lot for us... Special occasions only unless you are much wealthier than our little middle class family!
I come for the chop chop salad, but on this night, Christmas Eve, I had their prime rib. It was so disappointing. The worst I ever had at any restaurant. I like rare & it was dry. I ask, how can rare be dry? Answer, they let it sit until someone asks for rare & it looked like that when it was placed in front on me. I even had to ask the waiter for a steak knife since it was tough too. I should have returned it to the kitchen but we were going to church after dining so we had no time to wait for another serving. My husband & his friend had the chop chop & said it was ok, not nearly as good as the Seattle location. My friend had the scallops & liked the dish. It was a disappointing meal for Christmas Eve. I think this is the 6th time we’ve been there for Christmas Eve dinner prior to church service. Next year we will go elsewhere.
Prime rib no longer on the lunch menu, my second choice of scallops was not available either.
Our waiter, while providing table service adequately, was terse and unsmiling.
The Chop Salad, a long time favorite, had it’s familiar flavors, the salad greens, however were not very green. Yes romaine can have white, but it is so much more appetizing to also have a good bit of green on the plate.
Not our best Palomino experience.
Our server was very nice and fairly attentive. He was serving too many tables though. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. Steak was at least 3 grissly pieces put together, shrimp scampi was way overcooked, ragu had practically no ragu! Even the chop chop salad wasn't as good as it used to be. Too bad.
From the person who seated us (Pierre, I believe) to our waiter Evan, our experience was wonderful. Everyone was cheerful and gracious. We tasked Evan to choose what we would be dining on and gave him the parameters (no Scallops or goat cheese) and he chose two wonderful pasta dishes. The food was delivered quickly and was hot (always a plus), the drinks were good and quick to arrive and the Creme Brulee is not to be missed. We were lucky enough to be seated at a window table to watch the festivities of Snowflake Lane which was super fun. All in all it was a fantastic experience and I would thoroughly recommend it.
We were there as a family to have dinner before watching Snowflake Lane. We were greeted with a smile, seated immediately, had very good service from a great waitress. The food was good, the atmosphere was accommodating for family fun (we had two toddlers and a 3 month old with us).
Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend it to a friend.
I have always loved Palomino in SF, so i thought it was a safe decision for a work-related dinner but this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant.
The service at the bar was absolutely awful. The bartender had a terrible attitude. For example, I tried to order 2 drinks, for myself and a colleague, and the bartender stopped me mid-sentence and she said, in a very angry tone, there’s too much going on i can only do one thing at a time and then stormed off. By the way it was a Tuesday night.
Eventually we got our drinks, paid, and went to our table. The bartender cane back over to us 30 min later and accused of us not paying for a drink, again in a very rude tone. Now if she were to come over and just ask a question, we would have happily engaged to help figure it out, but her attitude was incredibly rude. We clearly pointed out what drinks we had and what we had paid by showing the Receipts and she annoyingly walked away. We explained the situation to the manager and they left us alone after that, but that left a terrible taste in our mouth in terms of the service.
The server did a fine job, but the food was not as great as i remember, so I’m definitely disappointed in palomino following this experience. Will not be going back.
The hostess was very gracious and made us feel very welcome. Our waiter was also very nice and very accommodating. The staff gets 5 stars. Our food on the other hand was less than what we expected. Our orders came out after the tables around us and when they did the pizza was burned crust and minimal toppings. Very disappointing. We had to send back a salmon dish as it was DRIED out and unedible. Again, very disappointing since it was a special occasion. I would only go back for a Happy Hour and appetizers but not dinner. The food gets 2.5 stars. :(
We go to Palominos in Seattle twice a year. It never disappoints us. We thought we would try the Bellevue location. Service was so slow. Ordered our drinks and they came 20 min later. We ordered an appetizer and salad. Salad came and no appetizer. Even after reminding the waitress she never brought it. Dinner was about 45 - 50min after we ordered it. The Marsala chicken was dry but the rigatoni was so good. Our water and drinks were not refilled until AFTER we received our check which was disappointing.
It’s sad that there is such a striking difference in staff between the two locations. We will not return to Bellevue.
The service was spotty. We had to go find the waiter a couple of times and there were only 4 tables that were full.
The food was not good.
I haven’t been to Palomino in 2 years because of the above issues. I can’t recommend this restaurant because it ja terrine management and they don’t care about the customer.
