A comfortable place where striking surroundings magnify the metropolitan experience! Palomino is the perfect stop for a night out on the town or for quick drop in dining.
Showed up for dinner but Palomino didn't have our opentable reservation in their system. We ended up sitting in the bar. Food was good, service was good. We were surprised to find out that the restaurant was closing for good the next night on Sept. 25, 2017. It is no longer open for business.
We like to go here prior to events at the Geffen - walking distance. The food, service and ambiance is pretty good. $20 corkage fee if you bring your own bottle of wine.
This place was dreadful. The wait staff was indifferent to the point of hostility. The food was not as advertised. My "heirloom" tomatoes were actually underripe grape tomatoes. The entres were largely inedible. If anyone noticed they did not care. 70% of the tables were empty--as the quality of the experience would suggest they should be. This place will not be in business in six months.
Nice quiet booth table for a party of 3, which I appreciated. Great service by wait staff. Brought my 2 staff, both of whom had birthdays, and they each received a piece of tiramisu "cake." They had to take it to-go as they were so full from the great meal. One had the burger, the other had a pasta dish. I had the crab cakes which were perfectly cooked and had a dab of two great sauces. Palomino is always consistently terrific! Thank you once again!
Excellent service. Great dinner
I will miss this neighborhood gem in Westwood. The food is always good (never too salty) and the service is wonderful and very friendly. I understand that there are two other locations. I wish them well.
Unfortunately the restaurant in closing at the end of this month, but the food is excellent and the serviced always great.
Too bad they are closing in a few days. The landlord wants more $$$ and they probably will never find as good a restaurant to fill the space...same thing happened when Palomino left Honolulu...they could never find a good tenant and it remains vacant.
We went here for the first time in years primarily as it is the best option as to proximity to the Geffen theatre. We were pretty much shocked at the very high level of food we had:
1) Truffled deviled eggs - not only delicious, but the truffle (oil) could be tasted. Just excellent
2) Possibly the best pizza we've ever had - an out of the box preparation with dough the thickness of paper and strong, perfect flavor.
Wines are good but desserts aren't much
Very tasty food and for a great value. Palomino is a great location for a lively bar area and also a more quiet dinner service area as well. I choose this restaurant to entertain an out of town business client.
So sorry u r leaving Westwood My group of4 eat there often and will miss eating there
I was so surprised as the taste has been changed. I felt disappointed.
We heard it was closing....good thing. My chicken was so salty I could barely eat it. very disappointing.
Fabulous Happy Hour menu.
Great for pre-post theater dining
Unfortunately, the A/C was minimal as the main system seemed to be broken. Portable A/C barely helped.
Food over salted at lunch today. This is very unusual.
Notified that they are closing.
Will be saddend by the loss as it has really improved lately
Fantastic service from Savier! Food is always consistent, great for a quick business lunch.
Always enjoy Palomino for lunch; have been many times. Like their special lunch menu. Shared a delicious salad & chicken club sandwich w/my lunch companion. We were too full to have dessert. Will go back. Sorry to hear it's closing Seot. 24.
Very good but too loud for our business meal. One of our guests was soft spoken so difficult to hear.
Overall a good experience. Nothing to rave about but no complaints either.
Food quite good, service extremely slow. May have been the usual discrimination toward two women dining alone, but did not help the overall experience.
Server TJ was fun and attentive. We had coho salmon and steelhead trout, both wild caught. Superb flavor. Caramelized cauliflower with mascarpone was a tasty side. Tiramisu unusual and delicious.
Nice ambience, wonderful cocktails, attentive service. We'll definitely go back.
We've been to this place numerous times, won't be returning. It was my mother-in-law's 91st bday. We noted that in res AND called to confirm they were aware. They never even ACKNOWLEDGED it - not by a simple "happy birthday" or a complimentary dessert, nothing. The service was slow and terrible - unforgivable for a nearly empty restaurant. The food was inedible. I don't know what's happened to this place but it's gone way, way downhill. Two in our party of 5 got very ill after their meals. Server did NOTHING when we alerted him to food issues and non-acknowledgment of birthday. 3/4 of this meal should have been taken off the bill. So, so very disappointing.
I arrived a few minutes late from traffic and was greeted very kindly. They do validate valet parking. I was in a hurry to make my appointment so my waiter was quick, didn't make me feel rushed and packed up to go what I didn't have time to finish. Enjoyed a large variety of menu items and the staff was really accommodating.
The food was delicious, great presentation. No one complained at all. Thank you for serving 14 people promptly and the services was superb. Will be back next year!
The food and ambiance were pleasant and the server was pleasant, but the service was slow because the staff was over extended.
It was a quick dinner before a play at the Geffen. The hostess sat us at the back of the restaurant and we didn't have anyone come to us for drink orders for a long time. Once the waiter came, he was very attentive and assured us we would have our food in time for the theater. Everyone was very pleased with their dishes and we plan to return.
I thought it was fine. The decor seems very dated.
The food was ok, with the exception of the Linguini & Clams that cost more than $20, but only consisted of a small mound of pasta with 3 clams. The service was awful. Took way to long to get our food.... over an hour and the manager was not empathetic at all. We are not likely to return any time soon, if at all... It is unfortunate because we used to like this restaurant....
Really great Happy Hour!
The food is always excellent and the portions are large. The service is excellent as well. Everyone is friendly, helpful and greets you warmly! That's why we keep coming back to eat here! Thank you!
Our waitstaff Sierra made the whole evening perfect even when we thought we had been "dropped off in corner and might not have been seen again."
They shared the dishes ahead of time for us and poured the wine at just the right time.
Got us to the theater in pleny of time without feeling rushed.
I usually love this restaurant but this night the bartender ignored me for 15 minutes and I was sitting at the bar. Not a single eye contact while helping others around me. Also the restaurant was incredibly hot. I was told the air was on but it was cooler outside.
Ate there twice for lunch and had great food and service was out of the ordinary
excellent food and value for money. The ambience is soothing the staff are cordial.
Always enjoy lunches @ Palomino, especial combos (soup & 1/2 sandwich). Only criticism, mushroom bisque is too bland, otherwise sandwich is very good & when I've had pasta enjoyed that too. Appreciate they always give me a requested window table.u Will definitely eat @ Palomino again.
Usually love palomino
The wine list is outstanding and the service excellent. The crab artichoke dip was as delicious as always. With a large party of 9, service was excellent. We were sat immediately and never felt rushed. Their small wedge was excellent. The two people who ordered filets were very happy as were the pasta eaters. I was unimpressed with the brick oven chicken. With no seasoning or a sauce it was rather tasteless and tough. It was the only dish that was disappointing.
I have been going to this Palomino for many years. this was the first time in about 3 months and I was shocked to see how empty it was on a Friday night. The bar area was packed, but the restaurant was less than 30% full. With the exception of the chicken, every other dish was very good and they have a nice selection of desserts, though I miss their molten chocolate cake.
Worth a visit if you are in Westwood.
