Palomino - Los Angeles - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Showed up for dinner but Palomino didn't have our opentable reservation in their system. We ended up sitting in the bar. Food was good, service was good. We were surprised to find out that the restaurant was closing for good the next night on Sept. 25, 2017. It is no longer open for business.
This place was dreadful. The wait staff was indifferent to the point of hostility. The food was not as advertised. My "heirloom" tomatoes were actually underripe grape tomatoes. The entres were largely inedible. If anyone noticed they did not care. 70% of the tables were empty--as the quality of the experience would suggest they should be. This place will not be in business in six months.
Nice quiet booth table for a party of 3, which I appreciated. Great service by wait staff. Brought my 2 staff, both of whom had birthdays, and they each received a piece of tiramisu "cake." They had to take it to-go as they were so full from the great meal. One had the burger, the other had a pasta dish. I had the crab cakes which were perfectly cooked and had a dab of two great sauces. Palomino is always consistently terrific! Thank you once again!
We went here for the first time in years primarily as it is the best option as to proximity to the Geffen theatre. We were pretty much shocked at the very high level of food we had:
1) Truffled deviled eggs - not only delicious, but the truffle (oil) could be tasted. Just excellent
2) Possibly the best pizza we've ever had - an out of the box preparation with dough the thickness of paper and strong, perfect flavor.
Wines are good but desserts aren't much
We've been to this place numerous times, won't be returning. It was my mother-in-law's 91st bday. We noted that in res AND called to confirm they were aware. They never even ACKNOWLEDGED it - not by a simple "happy birthday" or a complimentary dessert, nothing. The service was slow and terrible - unforgivable for a nearly empty restaurant. The food was inedible. I don't know what's happened to this place but it's gone way, way downhill. Two in our party of 5 got very ill after their meals. Server did NOTHING when we alerted him to food issues and non-acknowledgment of birthday. 3/4 of this meal should have been taken off the bill. So, so very disappointing.
I arrived a few minutes late from traffic and was greeted very kindly. They do validate valet parking. I was in a hurry to make my appointment so my waiter was quick, didn't make me feel rushed and packed up to go what I didn't have time to finish. Enjoyed a large variety of menu items and the staff was really accommodating.
It was a quick dinner before a play at the Geffen. The hostess sat us at the back of the restaurant and we didn't have anyone come to us for drink orders for a long time. Once the waiter came, he was very attentive and assured us we would have our food in time for the theater. Everyone was very pleased with their dishes and we plan to return.
The food was ok, with the exception of the Linguini & Clams that cost more than $20, but only consisted of a small mound of pasta with 3 clams. The service was awful. Took way to long to get our food.... over an hour and the manager was not empathetic at all. We are not likely to return any time soon, if at all... It is unfortunate because we used to like this restaurant....
Our waitstaff Sierra made the whole evening perfect even when we thought we had been "dropped off in corner and might not have been seen again."
They shared the dishes ahead of time for us and poured the wine at just the right time.
Got us to the theater in pleny of time without feeling rushed.
I usually love this restaurant but this night the bartender ignored me for 15 minutes and I was sitting at the bar. Not a single eye contact while helping others around me. Also the restaurant was incredibly hot. I was told the air was on but it was cooler outside.
Always enjoy lunches @ Palomino, especial combos (soup & 1/2 sandwich). Only criticism, mushroom bisque is too bland, otherwise sandwich is very good & when I've had pasta enjoyed that too. Appreciate they always give me a requested window table.u Will definitely eat @ Palomino again.
The wine list is outstanding and the service excellent. The crab artichoke dip was as delicious as always. With a large party of 9, service was excellent. We were sat immediately and never felt rushed. Their small wedge was excellent. The two people who ordered filets were very happy as were the pasta eaters. I was unimpressed with the brick oven chicken. With no seasoning or a sauce it was rather tasteless and tough. It was the only dish that was disappointing.
I have been going to this Palomino for many years. this was the first time in about 3 months and I was shocked to see how empty it was on a Friday night. The bar area was packed, but the restaurant was less than 30% full. With the exception of the chicken, every other dish was very good and they have a nice selection of desserts, though I miss their molten chocolate cake.
Worth a visit if you are in Westwood.
