Service was terrible. Food was average.
The food was good and good portion size.
Mark - our server - was fantastic. Honest about menu selection and very friendly. Enjoyable evening
Excellent food, superb cocktails and terrific service. Look forward to once again going to Palomino the next time we’re in Cincinnati.
Palomino's has been a favorite as long as it's been here in Cincinnati. We've enjoyed birthdays, anniversaries, late night drinks, pre-game snacks, etc. Menu changes regularly, but food is always great. Service is friendly and helpful, but not obtrusive. Can eat light or fill up. Wonderful deserts. Creative cocktails and decent bar/wine list.
The food was disappointing. Not up the same quality as it used to be.
Started in the bar as we arrived 40 mins b4 our 5p resv. Told they don’t start til 5 n they would come to bar to get us. After 20 mins we were asked about a drink n 10 mins late another server came to take our order. We got our drinks n no blue cheese stuffed olives n then bartender came to say she had to stuff her own n was waiting on the blue cheese. Ok so we had our drink n paid. I happened to look at my watch. It was 510p. No one came to get us.
We sit down and it was at least 20 mins b4 anyone came. Was told she didn’t know her table. Then we order and are told cocktail would be paid for. That was nice.
Then it takes awhile to get salads. They were fine but one of them not.
Then I don’t know how long we waited to get main entree only for mine to lukewarm at best n short rib not very tender. One of my guests chicken es cold n green beans looked like they had been sitting.
The manager or whoever said he’d take care of my meal.
I only asked for my meal to be reheated n new green beans for guest. I got new plate n mushrooms were sparse n completely different.
Anyway all 4 of our meals etc were taken care of including dessert was given to us.
Sad about it as my 3 guests had never been there; Palominos has been my fav Cinti downtown rest and then this happened n on Mother’s Day
I may be back for lunch but not so sure for dinner
And you weren’t even crazy busy
The place has greater appeal and has had better service. Wash the windows. You use to do a great Mother's Day Brunch Buffet and it was always packed.
the restaurant needs a complete physical overhaul. it is so dated that is feels like a stale hotel restaurant.
Would suggest warmed syrup with french toast and butter needed to be served along with french toast, not asked for. Also, butter should be soft, not rock hard. Also, restaurant the size and reputation of Palomino should have espresso/specialty coffee available to its guests. All-in-all brunch was a disappointment with limited choices, especially for a day like Mother's day.
We made a reservation for 7:30. We were seated around 7:35ish. We ordered the crab and artichoke dip, which was okay. They give you barely any dip and way too many pita chip things. Our server was chris, and he forgot to write down our order. He came by and apologized, but we did not get our food until after 9. I got the shrimp scampi, and it was not impressive at all. Olive Garden is definitely way better
Poor service, and mediocre food. Don’t waste your time or money!!!
We waited almost 30 minutes to be seated. Service was really slow. Entrees didn’t come out together. I had to send mine back because it was supposed to be gluten free & wasn’t. My fish was cold. Was actually very disappointed.
The kitchen somehow missed my son's meal (grilled chicken breast) and we waiting for a long time to get that meal brought out. They did bring him some french fries to "tie him over" which was disappointing because by the time he received his meal, he was full of french fries instead. They more than made up for their error by comping all of the entrees. This was totally unexpected and above and beyond what was necessary. They were very apologetic and more than made up for their mistake. Food was great and service was great! Just a minor hiccup.
The food tasted good and service was great but it took a LONG time to get our food (the sever apologized multiple times). Furthermore, we each ordered off of the pasta menu but our meals were varying in portions. Mine was huge, very filling, with a lot of meat. But the person next to me had a MUCH smaller dish (the server informed us they were out of the big bowls) with much less in portion size. She also had only three shrimp and one scallop in her dish (she paid $20+ for this). Overall, the restaurant was nice but we were not overly impressed. The amount of food for the price was not satisfying.
From when we first got there to when we left, the overall experience was made to be amazing by those who work there. Really took the effort to make our night special and one to remember.
Bridgett our server is the BEST!!! We could dine anywhere in the city but her attitude is the reason we keep coming back. The mushroom soup is also very good along with seasonal specials. Nice view of Fountain Square as well.
I had dinner by myself during a quick trip to Cincinnati. I had a table near the window which overlooked fountain square. The food was acceptable and the prices reasonable. I had the tiramisu for dessert which was their own creation. I little on the sweet side. The table serve was great and the manager came by three times during the meal to check on things. It's good to see active managers.
Overall it was an ok experience. We had an early reservation but front of house was not prepared. The restaurant had a bar table full & 1-2 small tables occupied but they still scrambled to get us our table and asked us to wait.
Our waiter was great, quick, on point. A friend asked for a gluten free crust for the pizza and the waiter stated that because it’s early he is unsure if they are ready.
Why take early reservations if the restaurant is not ready?
I had the meat parpadelle, it had good flavor but a grease pit. Not exactly what I was looking for. The dish also had a few pieces of fat/gristle.
I prefer the place across the street.
Mark was an awesome waiter and the food and service was excellent. Flavors and combinations delightful. Our party had chicken parm, hazelnut sole and scallops. Great wine as well.
Loved the restaurant. Our first time there. Received a gift certificate from our kids for Christmas. Had tickets for Music Hall and this was perfect for our "before" meal. Were able to get a window seat and enjoy watching Fountain Square.
Visited Cincinnati for my Birthday and Palomino was conveniently located near the Westin I stayed at. Waitstaff and management were friendly and attentive. Dinner was fantastic from the Bruschetta to the Caesar Salad (just the right hint of anchovy), Chicken Parm with al dente capellini for me and Gluten-Free pizza for my husband (his first gluten free experience and he liked it!) and the limoncello. Ale - mmmm. Meal was so good that we took the leftovers and found the hotel microwave to have for lunch the next day. Definitely visit if you’re in Cincinnati!!
We had excellent specials—Moroccan salmon and mahi. They brought a surprise birthday tiramasu (huge) and decorated the table. Greatview of Fountain Square, excellent service, unobtrusive but lively jazz/big band track in the background.
We always go to Palomino for a great evening out. Tonight was no exception! Great seafood selections with the paella being our party’s favorite entree.
Our server Mark Was awesome! He was informative, present when we needed him, and added some great humor. We also appreciated the manager’s (Bridget?) visit to our table. We heard it was under new management now and we can tell a difference.
Went here for a special occasion celebration for dinner on a Sunday evening. We had reservations but probably didn't need them, it didn't seem too busy.
Crab and artichoke dip to start - was good, but wish it came with more of the pita chip things!
Both had pasta dishes for dinner - rigatoni bolognese and fettuccine with shrimp, both were delicious and filling portions! Worth the money.
Also enjoyed a bottle of the red blend from Boomtown (I think) - was a good complement to our meal and was served professionally.
Will return, overall good experience and a great view.
Service started out slow but Christoff the manager was AMAZING! Lavender Cosmos are the best.
Great dinner before the show! I thoroughly enjoyed my spinach salad and filet, while my friend raved about her seafood bucatini and grilled salmon. We both topped it off with chocolate tiramisu. The perfect ending!
Fish was a little dry. Service was fair. Our waiter was too busy with other parties and often ignored us.
We had a delightful lunch and enjoyed being seated at a table by the window, overlooking Fountain Square. Brandon, our server was very attentive and helpful with food suggestions. The Moroccan Salmon special was tasty as was the fig gelato. It was a nice treat for a pre-show meal. The iced tea ($4) was mango flavor and Brandon kept it replenished regularly.
Let me begin by saying that everything was horrible. I have been to several different locations and this one was by far the worst. Our party of three arrived and the hostess said they could not seat us til it was closer to our reservation. We were only 15 min early and the table was open. It should have taken one hour in and out to eat. Especially, since we all ordered off the Prix Fixe menu from being involved in restaurant week. Instead it took us over two hours to order, be served, and leave. The soup tasted like nothing but cream. The server dropped food and drinks and left. She even said at one point she forgot my beverage. We might have engaged more in the alcohol if she actually checked on us more often and didn’t tell us our food would be right out after waiting an additional 20 minutes from the last time we were told the food was coming right out. Most places would bring out extra bread or something while waiting but not this place. They ran out of bread. I saw from my seat the bread coming from boxes and placed in the oven and watched other tables get served while we were told they were waiting on fresh bread.
Then the food served was only mildly warm.
The part that sealed the deal for me was when the manager came up to our table while were paying, a little too late in my opinion, and just made up excuses and told us how it was a difficult night for him as well. When he asked what he could do for us, as he was making excuses justifying a horrible experience, I really want to hand him the bill and ask for my time back. But instead be assured that you have lost a customer that has dined at palominos several times for both business and pleasure. You can keep your excuses and hard evening that you had. And I highly suggest your manager should take care of your customers when he knows things went poorly and the customer has been patient instead of making up excuses and singing his whining ways.
Service was exceptionally slow. We had been seated for over 15 minutes before our server came to the table to get our drink orders. The drinks were not delivered to our table for another 15 minutes. I asked twice for bread and was told both times it was on its way only to never receive any. We had allowed more than an hour for dining this evening prior to a show at the Aronoff and had to ask for our check before our food was served.
We almost missed the show at the Arenoff because the service was so slow. It took 25-30 minutes to get the appetizer (bruschetta), didn’t get any bread until after the appetizer because they ran out an had to make more, AND had to literally ask for boxes as soon as the food came and had to pack 95% of the meals to make the show. We paid $80 to pack our food and eat it at midnight after the show. We ordered our entrees at 7:00 and received them once we tried to cancel them at 7:50. The waitress should have taken off the wine or app or done SOMETHING to help alleviate the long wait and boxed full entrees but she didn’t even offer. There were two other tables just in our vicinity with the same issue. We won’t be back.
Reservation was for 5:45pm during restaurant week. There was also a Pure Romance convention in town. We thought 1 hour 45 minutes before we needed to leave for an 8:00 show at the Aaronoff would allow plenty of time. Our table was ready on time, our waitress was knowledgeable and very friendly. The bar was frequently backed up and our food took over 1 hour. The filet mignon was ordered by two of us on a special 3 course menu and both were undercooked for medium, very tough, and not very warm. Neither of us liked our crab cake but the portabello mushroom soup and tierra misu dessert were both very good. Our wine was a good value. I would return as long as I was in no hurry to be anywhere to try another menu item. The chicken entree from our special birthday guest was well liked but came out from the kitchen 5 minutes later than our meals so she didn't have time to finish before we needed to leave for the show.
We went for restaurant week and the food was excellent. We will be back.
We participated in restaurant week. It was a great value and a good experience. Timing and service (water in particular) was slower than expected. Server didn't mention anything about our special occasion.
I’ve had many wonderful dinners at Palomino over the years, but the food was a huge disappointment this time, as well as the service. We were headed to a show after dinner and let our server know this. The salad I ordered was completely forgotten and our food arrived so late we had about 10 minutes to eat it before we had to race out the door for our show. Three of our party ordered the pizzas and all were soggy. I had the rotisserie chicken pizza which had little to no seasoning or flavor. Overall, a big disappointment and inconvenience.
Service was excellent. They didn't have gluten free pizza crust as advertised (very disappointing). Our salads were drenched in dressing. The place was practically empty which is a shame. They have an awesome view and ambiance.
Was there before going to the show.i had a salad and beef ribs with cauliflower mashed potatoes which was absolutely delicious. It was then followed by the chocolate tiramisu which was so rich and chocolatey. My girlfriend had the scallops which presented well and she could not stop talking about how much she enjoyed them. Definitely a great place - will go back.
I wish there were more stars to vote for the ambience. The scene itself is amazing. It's a over view of Fountain Square. Food even more amazing.
We stopped in for dinner before the theater. Our table right by the window was great for watching all the people on Fountain Square. The spinach & artichoke appetizer was very creamy, better than most. My ragu was delicious; my husband did not care for the fish he had ordered so they brought him some salmon cooked to order at no additional charge, and he said that was delicious.
