Palomino - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
I have been to different Palomino Restaurants in different States, always hoping that the good quality has changed. And NO, it has not. The service is the only saving factor. The food is equal to a run-of-the-mill pizza store. I can get better food in a grocery store. They really need to change up their menu and increase the quality of their food 100%.
Pretty disappointed. Sat us at a table and 5 minutes later we were asked to move to another table so a bigger party could sit. No big deal, we got a table by the window so can’t complain about that. Came to celebrate a birthday. Waited 1.5 hours for our food and soup wasn’t even luke warm and Caesar salad had so much salad dressing couldn’t even eat it. We tolerated that. Then the filet was over cooked, yes that happens.. understandable. The waitress sent it back and manager came to apologize which we appreciated. I had my food ate and we waited some more and my husband was still was waiting on his food. After waiting 1.5 hours already and nothing seemed to go right we asked for our bill and left. Not sure why it took so long, didn’t even seem to be super busy. No birthday dinner for my husband and I ate pretty much ate alone. But the manager did offer my husband a piece of cake. No thanks. Won’t be back.
Let me start by saying we typically loved this place. My wife and I have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. I know that sometimes things just don't work out, but last night was really hard to ignore. Our waitress, Arwa was either new or just not good. She forgot things that we asked for and even a simple glass of wine and beer took 15 minutes on not so busy night. We ordered 3 rounds, you do the math.
The food, is typically delicious and my wife and I have very similar tastes. We both ordered the Fettuccini De Mar and we were both extremely disappointed. The noodles were over done and scallops were way under cooked. Needless to say, we are saddened by the night.
For the cost of the night we probably would have had better service and food at applebees.... Just Sad.
If you're planning a romantic dinner for Valentine's Day - go elsewhere. For dropping $140, yes ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY DOLLARS on their Valentine's day dinner for two, my girlfriend and I both left hungry and unhappy. The salad appetizer was really lame and didn't even have the cranberries or walnuts as advertised. The pasta was pretty watery and the shrimp was very overcooked and chewy. The "chocolate cake" was anything but exciting. My girlfriend and I both agreed it was about the quality of a Wal-Mart brand box of brownies just presented nicely with a couple dollops of raspberry jelly (also found at Wal-Mart). I have NEVER been so regretful in picking a restaurant to eat at, especially considering it was Valentine's day. You could basically go to ANY other restaurant in Cincinnati, Olive Garden included, and spend 1/3 (no joke) of the price and get a meal 3x as good/filling. SAVE YOUR MONEY.
Service was very slow albeit it was Valentine’s Day. I had a steak. It was just fine. My wife had the short ribs and she said they were great. Our server was very pleasant but, I believe, had too many tables. I ordered a glass of wine before we ordered our entrees and it arrived after I had finished eating my meal. I definitely expect slow service, etc. on Valentine’s Day but this was worse than that. The chocolate cake was excellent though!
Everything was great except for the slow service. Took a long time to get our dinner. We were there a total of 2.5 hrs. Our reservation was for 8:30 and it was not very crowded so not sure why the main course took so long. Filets were a little under cooked as well but still good.
Food service was very slow.
The server was not completely familiar with the menu nor the selection of alcoholic beverages.
Food preparation was excellent.
Drink portions were excellent.
Great kids menu.
The restaurant was very noisy and a conversation was difficult.
Dinner was delicious. Once we got our appetizer and order placed for the main course it felt as if we lost our server. They tried to bring the entrees before the salads. Once everything was figured out we did have an excellent meal. I️ would definitely dine here again
Our work team gathered at Palomino’s for a good-bye lunch for one of our team members. The Palomino staff was very accommodating for our group of 16. We had a whole section of the restaurant dedicated to just us, so it felt very private. We were able to order from the regular menu and with separate checks. Our server was friendly, fast and efficient. Our food was served quickly, correctly and was most delicious. A great time was had by all! Thank you Palomino’s for an outstanding experience!
We participated in Palomino's educator appreciation weekend special, with a 3-course meal for $25 per person from a prix fixe menu. The mushroom soup was delicious, the chop-chop salad is always a favorite, and the steak frites and rigatoni bolognese were also delicious, with enough to take some home for lunch the following day. The fig gelato was a really unique taste - one of us liked it and the other did not. The tiramisu was disappointing - a bit on the dry side and not very flavorful in our opinions. The service, atmosphere, and drink selection were absolutely fantastic, and I will definitely return to Palomino in the future! Thanks for recognizing educators!
We were there for a celebration for our daughter and her best friend getting accepted to colleges they wanted to go to! There were 6 of us and we had a reservation so we were seated right away! We got our drinks quickly and we took some time to decide on appetizers but they came fairly quickly. However, our entres took quite a while to arrive. Our waiter was great but seemed a bit stretched for a busy Saturday evening! Food was very good but a few steaks were a bit undercooked. No one wanted to send it back because it took so long to get them in the first place. I would recommend going there but maybe not on a prime weekend dinner hour!
We love Palomino. The value of the tasting menu on Saturday evening was very good. The portions were good size and the meals were delicious. Palomino doesn't disappoint. I asked for a round table for six near the window and we got it. We are members of the Restaurants unlimited club. It's great!
The food and ambiance were very good but the service was just fair. We were asked if we wanted some water up front - who doesn't when eating out? The water was so bad we had to buy a bottle of water to drink. Although the waiter said he'd be right with us to place our order he seemed to have gotten lost for awhile after taking our appetizer requests. I asked for a Chivas and water in a tall glass and got a Chivas on the rocks in a small glass. I decided to mix it with my drinking water before I had tasted the water - that was a mistake. When I wanted a second drink to go with my dinner I had to find a different server to place the order because ours wasn't anywhere around. I enjoyed the ambiance and the view of Fountain Square but I won't be going back. As is customary for me, I still lift the server slightly over a 20% tip.
Sorry to say, it was a miserable experience. I regret my choice of restaurants for a birthday dinner. We absolutely froze while attempting to dine. The restaurant was so cold that I was ordering "hot water". The first field green salad that was served contained slimy and old lettuce. The caeser salad that replaced it was slightly fresher. There was no acknowledgement of the birthday....why ask this of folks making reservations if there is nothing done to acknowledge the special occasion? It was an experience that was unforgettable and will not be repeated. Thanks for asking. It gave me an opportunity to let you know how embarrassed I was with my choice of restaurants that evening.
We were there a good half hour before we even had drinks. No one came for a while and when they did, it was a while before our drinks arrived. Then, there were only 5 entrees on the menu. I have been there before and I never remembered the menu being so limited? Finally, there was a draft, and even though we were in the middle of the restaurant away from the windows, it was freezing. So all that money to eat with our coats on? No thanks. We'll go somewhere else from now on.
Brought an out of town guest here for the view overlooking Fountain Square over the holidays. Bruschetta was composed of fresh ingredients and just the right amount of olive oil. Scampi was seasoned well as was the side salad. I added a squirt of lemon juice to my salad which brought out the flavor. We ordered crepe brûlée for dessert which was creamy and prepared with a few blueberries atop but it was served in a tiny round, not oval ramikin with no plate underneath-poor presentation but good taste. Great atmosphere.
Great food, but small portions for the cost. The service is usually good. Lunch combo was not enough food. Very small salad and a bowl of soup and I came back to the office hungry. Great location for our office though and we didn't even have to go outside in the cold. Restaurant is comfortable and a nice atmosphere.
