Service started out slow but Christoff the manager was AMAZING! Lavender Cosmos are the best.
Great dinner before the show! I thoroughly enjoyed my spinach salad and filet, while my friend raved about her seafood bucatini and grilled salmon. We both topped it off with chocolate tiramisu. The perfect ending!
Fish was a little dry. Service was fair. Our waiter was too busy with other parties and often ignored us.
We had a delightful lunch and enjoyed being seated at a table by the window, overlooking Fountain Square. Brandon, our server was very attentive and helpful with food suggestions. The Moroccan Salmon special was tasty as was the fig gelato. It was a nice treat for a pre-show meal. The iced tea ($4) was mango flavor and Brandon kept it replenished regularly.
Let me begin by saying that everything was horrible. I have been to several different locations and this one was by far the worst. Our party of three arrived and the hostess said they could not seat us til it was closer to our reservation. We were only 15 min early and the table was open. It should have taken one hour in and out to eat. Especially, since we all ordered off the Prix Fixe menu from being involved in restaurant week. Instead it took us over two hours to order, be served, and leave. The soup tasted like nothing but cream. The server dropped food and drinks and left. She even said at one point she forgot my beverage. We might have engaged more in the alcohol if she actually checked on us more often and didn’t tell us our food would be right out after waiting an additional 20 minutes from the last time we were told the food was coming right out. Most places would bring out extra bread or something while waiting but not this place. They ran out of bread. I saw from my seat the bread coming from boxes and placed in the oven and watched other tables get served while we were told they were waiting on fresh bread.
Then the food served was only mildly warm.
The part that sealed the deal for me was when the manager came up to our table while were paying, a little too late in my opinion, and just made up excuses and told us how it was a difficult night for him as well. When he asked what he could do for us, as he was making excuses justifying a horrible experience, I really want to hand him the bill and ask for my time back. But instead be assured that you have lost a customer that has dined at palominos several times for both business and pleasure. You can keep your excuses and hard evening that you had. And I highly suggest your manager should take care of your customers when he knows things went poorly and the customer has been patient instead of making up excuses and singing his whining ways.
Service was exceptionally slow. We had been seated for over 15 minutes before our server came to the table to get our drink orders. The drinks were not delivered to our table for another 15 minutes. I asked twice for bread and was told both times it was on its way only to never receive any. We had allowed more than an hour for dining this evening prior to a show at the Aronoff and had to ask for our check before our food was served.
We almost missed the show at the Arenoff because the service was so slow. It took 25-30 minutes to get the appetizer (bruschetta), didn’t get any bread until after the appetizer because they ran out an had to make more, AND had to literally ask for boxes as soon as the food came and had to pack 95% of the meals to make the show. We paid $80 to pack our food and eat it at midnight after the show. We ordered our entrees at 7:00 and received them once we tried to cancel them at 7:50. The waitress should have taken off the wine or app or done SOMETHING to help alleviate the long wait and boxed full entrees but she didn’t even offer. There were two other tables just in our vicinity with the same issue. We won’t be back.
Reservation was for 5:45pm during restaurant week. There was also a Pure Romance convention in town. We thought 1 hour 45 minutes before we needed to leave for an 8:00 show at the Aaronoff would allow plenty of time. Our table was ready on time, our waitress was knowledgeable and very friendly. The bar was frequently backed up and our food took over 1 hour. The filet mignon was ordered by two of us on a special 3 course menu and both were undercooked for medium, very tough, and not very warm. Neither of us liked our crab cake but the portabello mushroom soup and tierra misu dessert were both very good. Our wine was a good value. I would return as long as I was in no hurry to be anywhere to try another menu item. The chicken entree from our special birthday guest was well liked but came out from the kitchen 5 minutes later than our meals so she didn't have time to finish before we needed to leave for the show.
We went for restaurant week and the food was excellent. We will be back.
We participated in restaurant week. It was a great value and a good experience. Timing and service (water in particular) was slower than expected. Server didn't mention anything about our special occasion.
I’ve had many wonderful dinners at Palomino over the years, but the food was a huge disappointment this time, as well as the service. We were headed to a show after dinner and let our server know this. The salad I ordered was completely forgotten and our food arrived so late we had about 10 minutes to eat it before we had to race out the door for our show. Three of our party ordered the pizzas and all were soggy. I had the rotisserie chicken pizza which had little to no seasoning or flavor. Overall, a big disappointment and inconvenience.
Service was excellent. They didn't have gluten free pizza crust as advertised (very disappointing). Our salads were drenched in dressing. The place was practically empty which is a shame. They have an awesome view and ambiance.
Was there before going to the show.i had a salad and beef ribs with cauliflower mashed potatoes which was absolutely delicious. It was then followed by the chocolate tiramisu which was so rich and chocolatey. My girlfriend had the scallops which presented well and she could not stop talking about how much she enjoyed them. Definitely a great place - will go back.
We stopped in for dinner before the theater. Our table right by the window was great for watching all the people on Fountain Square. The spinach & artichoke appetizer was very creamy, better than most. My ragu was delicious; my husband did not care for the fish he had ordered so they brought him some salmon cooked to order at no additional charge, and he said that was delicious.
Skip it. Food was horrible. I had the Paella. For sue the worst I ever had. My wife has a pasta which arrived cold the first time, and then again a second time. The food took forever to arrive. We arrived early to our reservation. The hostess was actually planning to make us wait, even though the table was ready. And the attitude of this person. Nothing positive I can say about this place, except the view of Fountain Square
My son came here with a group and was really disappointed. They were part of a prom group and were treated in a condescending manner. Their waitress (Arwa A.) ignored them and when the food came it was either average or very under-cooked. A 38 dollar meal was raw to the point of being unsafe. They complained and the waitress then yelled at them. Ironically what she yelled about was not what they complained about. Perhaps other patrons were also complaining? Instead of being embarrassed by their poor service and poor quality food, the manager told them they were bad customers and should leave the restaurant for complaining. This restaurant has lost the concept of service. I'm embarrassed that I suggested they dine there. I will never dine there again and will certainly be telling my friends about this experience.
Great waiter and drinks. Service was slow due to the show and prom.
It was for our anniversary dinner
Food was excellent. Service was quite slow. Live music would have been far too loud if we hadn't been seated at the opposite end of the restaurant. Great view and ambience.
We went to Palamino’s prior to catching a show at the Aranoff. The waiter was fantastic and very friendly. The food was delicious. The crab and artichoke dip was incredibly yummy. I prefer a table overlooking fountain square but it was a very nice evening.
We enjoyed our well-prepared and delicious entrees while over-looking Fountain Square with the trees in bloom. I had the Braised Short Rib and he ordered Asiago-Almond Crusted Scallops with a side of Asparagus.
Waiter very friendly & helpful. But salads came before our Starter and main course before we had finished Starter!! We felt rushed even though plenty of available tables. The caprese starter was outstanding as were the deserts. My filet was not tender. Probably will not return
Great food and service! Went for a birthday and they never disappoint!
Had a wonderful dinner and service was excellent! Would definitely dine here again
Make sure to stop in their bar ahead of time and order cocktails since you will pay a lot less in bar than when you order from your waiter. Same for appetizers. Our waiter was great, pointed out great food options and food was excellent. Our booth was not clean, with lots of stains on the back wall of the booth. Not the environment you want to sit in and a disappointment since our waiter and the food were both high quality.
We’ve visited Palomino’s several times over the years. The location is great and the views spectacular, but the food quality has been on the decline for years. When a restaurant charges $8 for a Caesar salad I expect to get an excellent salad. We received brown, wilted lettuce. What’s worse is the kid’s meals were served with pasta that fell apart as they ate it, actually turned to mush in their bowls. The rigatoni Alfredo used to be baked and the cheese was brown and bubbly on top. This time it was pasta mixed with sauce and it was slapped in a bowl. The fruit that accompanied the kid’s meal appeared to be old fruit from the bar. The peels were dried as was the fruit. I mean, come on! I ordered the mushroom and sausage pizza, and the “crust” may as well have been a saltine cracker (although I think that’s more of a compliment than it deserves). It used to be an actual crust that was baked in the brick oven. My husband ordered the chicken parm, which was good, but nothing spectacular. If Palomino’s doesn’t get their act together they’ll be going out of business soon. A totally disappointing experience and way overpriced for the quality received. Our server, Lauren, was lovely and did a great job.
Love this restaurant overlooking Fountain Square. Easy parking below. Great menu. Great service and great food! Go for the unlimited mimosa bar!
The server was excellent; he did everything he could to make up for the understaffed/overbooked restaurant. Food was COLD...only the appetizer was hot. This location should do the buffet (dined here before on Easter) to handle the large crowds. I understand that this is probably more than their staff can handle, but really need to assess the business and how you can accommodate. Won’t be back for a big holiday again unless they bring back the buffet.
I have not been back to Palominos for long time. We had really poor service and the food was nothing special. However, we had heard that there was a change in management and decided to give it another try. I am glad we did. We went Easter Sunday. The food was excellent, service was great, we were seated right away according to our reservation. They had a bloody Mary Bar with everything you could think of and an never ending Mimosa drink with various flavors.
Considering how busy there were everything seemed to be going very smoothly.
Management also came around to make sure that everything was going well.
We will be back!
Brunch was good. Bloody Mary bar was super. Brunch food selection was limited. We expected a buffet as in years past and would have preferred the buffet. However on reflection, the “off the menu” brunch was good.
Our server, Bridget, was very prompt, she was professional, attentive but not hovering.
My food was cold. It seems as if the staff wasn’t prepared for the Easter Brunch
We always enjoy coming here as the noise level is good, the ambience is classy and being on the second floor overlooking Fountain Square is a bonus, too. They have a nice variety of items on the menu and our waiter, Levi, did a great job making us feel welcome as did the manager who stopped by our table twice to check on us. The only issue we had was that some of the cauliflower on the trout dish had gone bad. Otherwise, the trout was good as was the maple chicken salad and seafood pasta dish.
We were seated at 5 which was our reservation time. The waiter bussed a 2 two top by the window, stopped by and said he would be right with us. 15 minutes later, still nothing, not even water. I got up and found a different waiter and asked if he could help as we had Broadway show at 6:30. He was able to take the table assignment away from the other guy and he pulled it out for us.
I write a review because the same has happened numerous times in the past before a Sunday show. Palomino has been downtown for years and the Sunday Broadway series as long as they have been open. They are never prepared for the reservation rush they allow to be scheduled.
I ordered fish, but they brought me chicken marsala. They gave me a cup of tomato bisque soup while I waited, and it was way too salty to enjoy. Eventually, I got the fish entree, and it was chewy. My wife ordered a different fish entree, which was served with vegetables that were room temperature, not hot. Not a good experience for us this time, although the staff apologized and comped us our cocktails.
We have eaten at Palomino many times, most recently on New Year's Eve. We went before going to the Aronoff on Saturday; our reservation was at 6, giving us plenty of time. However, we had the worst service we have ever had at this restaurant. The food was good, but the lousy service meant we had to eat and run to get to our play on time. It took 30 minutes to get a cocktail, which then arrived at the same time as the salad. It took intervention from the manager to get it then. Once our entrees arrived, we had about 15 - 20 minutes to eat. The restaurant had a good crowd, but was not packed. We've had many nice evenings/meals, so this was a disappointment.
Celebrated my moms 70th birthday before a show at The Aronoff. .
The changing menu of specials is always good. The staff is very attentive and are willing to accommodate your special desires if possible.
We had a very nice time here. Brussels sprouts as appetizer and did come out lukewarm. Once heated this was some of the best I have had. Also had to send our Salmon back because it was medium rare. We got to talking but our waitress forgot to ask how we wanted it. I think their default is medium rare and it should be medium. Food was very good though and they brought it back a little more hot and it was great. No big deal. Our waitress was extremely good. She has and wants to work for Habitat for Humanity. A very caring person and extremely friendly.
Had a bad piece of chicken served —- but meal was comp’d
Had seafood this trip with scallop dish good but salmon a bit undercooked. I'm not one who wants my fish well done, but my salmon needed just a little more cooking time. The salads were good and half price wine night always great. And get the donuts for dessert -- the full order for sharing.
