Palo Santo Ratings and Reviews
This was a great place for our Thanksgiving meal. The menu offered something for everyone. The food was tasty and fresh and the portions just right. Service and ambiance were also great. I would recommend Palo Santo for both everyday and special occasion dining.
My friends and I meet up for a monthly brunch or dinner date just to catch up and I chose this spot since I always have a great time here with my date. And it continues to not disappoint. Our waiter Zachariah was AMAZING! He was very knowledgeable of the menu and he gave us great recommendations, very attentive and energetic. You can tell he really enjoys his job and is so personable. He was everything and more I look for in a great waiter. We will definitely come back here for another get together. The desserts were on point. The papaya sorbert was a little spicy which was a nice surprise, the tres leches was so moist, the chocolate torte was deliciously chocolatey and if you love pumpkin, I would definitely recommend the pumpkin roll, not overpowering at all and not overly sweet. I also highly recommend the Michelada and the Sangria.
I had dinner at Palo Santo 2 weeks ago on a Saturday night. I loved the entrance of the restaurant, it looks like a brownstone that was turned into an apartment. The ambiance was exactly what I was going for - a good setting for a romantic dinner. The back of the restaurant was pretty empty, but I was fine with that. The waitress and the other servers were very attentive. The food was great - no complaints with that. All in all, it was an excellent experience and I'd highly recommend Palo Santo to others.
Prior to making reservations for a friend's Birthday dinner, I didn't realize I ate at Palo Santo last year for my Birthday. It was great last year, and great for my recent visit!
Marley was our server and had a pleasant personality. The entire staff was patient and kind. I arrived on time for the reservations, but my friends didn't lol. I didn't feel rushed, I ordered some apps (avocado + tortillas) and really got a good look at the spot. We were seated in the back area, which I wasn't aware they had. Really cozy and chill spot.
The menu was great...there is a pre-fix menu...and everyone was able to choose something to their liking. Sangria was awesome too! Really, just an overall amazing night.
I had the fish w/ plantain + red cabbage for my entree. Pretty tasty although the fish was a tad bit salty, otherwise a pretty good meal. I wasn't overstuffed and felt satisfied!
I'd def return to try other items.
This is a great place. Very nicely done with excellent food. The prix-fixe is a good deal also.
Whenever we come here the really outstanding thing is the service. I’m not sure how it happens, but they have the friendliest, nicest most helpful waiting staff anywhere in Brooklyn and pretty much always have had despite changes in personnel. Something for other places to learn from.
Everything we ordered at this cozy neighborhood bistro in a brownstone was tasty, from the Caldo verde and shaved chayote salad and empanadas to the pistachio sundae. Unfortunately we were not hungry enough to order an entree, so we will have to go back. The server and other staff were very friendly and the dining area attractive. Reasonably priced.
I love Palo Santo! This was my second visit, and the food was outstanding. The waitstaff was the perfect level of attentive without hovering - we always had what we needed, but never felt rushed. I've been here both to celebrate my sister's engagement, and more recently to catch up with an old friend. It's both a perfect spot for celebrations and quieter meals, and a true Park Slope gem.
This is a hidden gem in Park Slope. Comfortable atmosphere, very creative and beautifully executed spin on South American cuisine. Everything, appetizers to desert, were stunning. As long time Park Slope foodies, my bride and I find this to be one the most consistently rewarding and innovative restaurants in the area.
I was meeting with my friend who is vegetarian.
She had her birthday and we wanted to meet
For a pleasant and relaxing dinner. She lives in the area but never heart about this restaurant. The food was good with nice presentation. The place was quite and cozy, comfy for relaxation and conversation. Overall experience was pleasant.
The staff was extremely courteous, and the food was very tasty. One of their great perks, on Tuesday is that you get a taco for every drink you order. Moreover, the restaurant has a quiet table outside where you can go and sit by a quiet stream and talk. It made for a wonderful scenic and intimate date.
What a treat! I was really impressed by this place that I've passed by for about 7 years - I just wasn't sure it was a restaurant! A coworker recommended it and I had always been curious. It's so warm and cozy inside and the back window view with the small fountain was lovely. The food was so fresh and had obviously been prepared with a loving touch. I'm bringing everyone I know here!
As frequent visitors to Mexico and having experienced the finest Mexican cuisine, in just over 60 mins Palo Santo transported us 3000 miles and served up some of the most authentic and extraordinary Mexican fare we've had this side of the border. Try the Plantain Relleno, Mushroom Quesadilla and the unmatched Mole Duck Breast. Bread pudding and Tapioca sorbet for dessert.
Paulo Santo is a great place. The food is fresh, well prepared and unusual.
We especially liked the (free--with a happy hour drink) taco; the sea bass with hot slaw and a whole baked plantain was exceptional.
We shared one $33 three-course prix fixe and added a couple of appetizers. This was enough food for two of us.
My only complaint is that no bottle of wine was less than $38.00; and much of it was way more. The price for food was $48 and for wine $38.
I know it's the price of admission for lots of places, but this is a deterrent. I will more frequently go to a place that has good food and makes the wine a reasonable price. Our favorite places are one that have good food and are also inviting--and reasonable wine is a good way to get us in more often. Wine prices like this make any restaurant one for only special occasions. So why not a nightly special? Some bottles starting at $25? You'd see me here much more frequently!
We enjoyed our meal at Palo Santo. All of the food was fresh, carefully prepared, with high quality ingredients. The salsas and sauces seemed very authentic, flavorful, and light. The duck mole and the seafood stew were absolutely delicious.
However, they only serve wine or beer, which would be okay but the wine list as shown on Open Table is outdated. The list on Open Table shows some reasonably priced bottles in the $29-$35 range, but the current list had no bottles (or maybe one) under the low $40's. So we were relegated to drinking beer, which isn't really our first choice.
We also felt the desserts were overpriced at $14 per dessert, so we passed.
There is a prix fix $33 menu which would be a good value--but we weren't keen on any of the limited entree selections.
So while the food we had was excellent, the overall experience fell somewhat short.
We had a beautiful dinner at Palo Santo. The food was creative and delicious, everyone enjoyed their dishes. I had the mackerel, which was cooked perfectly - the skin was crispy and inside it was light and flaky. Another highlight was the duck breast. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is warm and cozy, almost like a ski lodge. We would definitely recommend!
Palo Santo is by far our favorite neighborhood restaurant. The food is creative and delicious and definitely a bargain, especially their three course meals. The decor is quaint and cozy in the front and in the rear they can accommodate larger groups. The wait staff is attentive but not overly so. We go there for special occasions and also just for no reason at all except to have a fun night out. Bravo!
Making an advanced booking from overseas for NYE in an unfamiliar place was so easy. The food and venue were better than I could have hoped for. There was a good variety of food on offer in our fixed price special occasion menu. It was warm, homely and inviting with delicious food. My family all enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Went for the NYE prix fixe recently but have gone a few times in the past, including a large 15-person birthday brunch. The experience is always stellar. The space is warm and cozy (as long as you don't sit right by the door in winter), the staff is friendly, and the food and drinks are delicious. The braised boar shank and beef tenderloin dishes are fantastic in particular, if available. Can't go wrong here - definitely try it out if you're in Park Slope.
Though the white sangria was disappointing, everything else I ordered was delicious. And the three course prix fixe was a great value. In addition, the service was exceptional - all of the staff was very friendly and attentive but especially our waitress who offered my husband the opportunity to sample all three beers on tap.
