Open since 2002 Palmettos on the Bayou is a charming and elegant Acadian style restaurant serving classic Creole dishes highlighting fresh Louisiana ingredients.

Set on the tranquil Bayou Bonfouca near Old Town Slidell, our waterfront restaurant/event venue is known for its southern charm. Palmettos famous Brunch features live music on Fri, Sat, and Sun. The 5,000sqf covered deck provides a dramatic outdoor setting at night for romantic dinners and a comfortable relaxed atmosphere during the day.

Executive Chef Ross Dover, formerly of Restaurant August, focuses on locally sourced ingredients with everything made from scratch. In addition to our regular menu we also feature a Seasonal Tasting menu. Enjoy gumbo, chargrilled oysters or Louisiana crab cakes to start your meal. Entrees include steak, fresh fish, shrimp and more. Finish your meal with one of our homemade desserts.

    Our servers were Autum and Natalie! They were phenomenal from start to finish. I don’t think I’ve ever had service as good as that before anywhere. The whole staff was nice if I’m being honest The food was great and hot. This place definitely lived up to the hype.

    Have been wanting to dine here for a while. Excellent food!!! Great service!! Would like a larger wine selection and as was bummed that we couldn’t eat outdoors as there was a wedding event but nevertheless we will definitely go back!

    Only didn’t give 5 stars due to the patio not being open which was the whole point of driving all the over there. Was closed for a wedding which is understandable.

    Palmettos is beautiful and we sat outside with live music and string lights. Our service was excellent! Lauren was so well informed about what was gluten free and it is marked on the menu now! Every time we have been here, it has been excellent, but I feel like the food wasn’t quite as good this time. Overall it’s one of my favorite places to go though.

    The night we went we were not allowed to see the waterfront due to two private events going on. Spending $300 and not even getting to go on the dock was upsetting. Call ahead, if there’s a private event don’t bother going. Food was great, would’ve been worth the price but we got the vibe that we were in the way of the other events.

    Our waitress was a blast and very fun. The bar service was way too slow for a Saturday night and I waited to get another glass of wine for a pretty long time once my meal was served. They also had a mixup with the unsweetened iced tea once the food was served so that took time for our waitress to work on. The ambience of the restaurant was very nice and worth the drive from the southshore. We all ordered the hanger steak which was cooked perfectly - rare plus. It sits on top of a bed of fries which were very tasty. However some sort of veggie would have been nice on the plate as well with less fries. Boudin balls and pork belly appetizers very tasty.

    Wonderful place! Went to eat there to check it out as a possible wedding venue. Staff was wonderful and food was delicious! Some of the best boudin balls ever.

    Impeccable service & visit by Mgr to ensure ‘all was well’… Royal Red Shrimp Bucatini was absolutely amazing & will be something I look for again… The Catch Pontchartrain featuring grouper filet & Gulf shrimp was also great as was the summer squash, zucchini, tomato & mushroom accompanied by the court bouillon upon service @ the table… Also enjoyed was the ‘Special’ Salad consisting of grilled peaches, roasted grape tomatoes, arugula & mixed greens, cucumber, onion, prosciutto accompanied by a round of Brie cheese all drizzled by a citrus vinaigrette… Additionally, a 1/2 dozen chargrilled oysters from the appetizer section… We’ll most definitely be returning @ Our earliest possible opportunity…

    Palmintos has a very small menu but what they have on the menu is pretty good. You can sit inside or outside and they even have a little section down on the water where you can sit.

    Great time as always. We were celebrating our daughter’s birthday and Palmetto’s is one of our favorite restaurants. The service is always amazing and she even got a birthday treat. The only negative thing is the dress code. This is a fairly upscale dining establishment, set amongst beautiful scenery. We saw patrons dressed in t-shirts, athletic leggings, cut off jean shorts, and athletic style shorts. A dress code should be enforced.

    This place is a treasure. The food is great and often times has a unique twist on a classic. On the weekends they frequently (?always) have live music outside early in the day. The service has been consistently quite good. The indoor dining as well as outdoor dining are both very cute. The only area I think that they could improve on is making the drinks a little less sweet; but that's personal preference. Overall, love this place and enjoy going when in the area.

    Good food, drinks and atmosphere. Catch Pontchartrain was Grouper when we visited and was very good. Drinks were great as well. Cool spot on the Bayou!

    Wonderful experience. Natalie was our waitress and she is wonderful. We’ve had her before so we requested her again. She made our experience great. We also met Jorge, your manager. Excellent! Very nice guy and personable. With regard to the food, fantastic. That’s why we keep coming back. Keep doing what you are doing. You have a good thing there.

    Sitting in the patio was wonderful and breezy. Not hot at all. The server was nice, but not very knowledgeable of the menu. The entre was disappointing. A small steak (a little tough) and a mountain of of fries and it was $30. Very disappointing.

    Had a reservation yet we were seated at a very busy and loud table. A couple was seated after us, they ordered and received an appetizer and main dish and were served and left before we received our food. There was a much better table that remained empty the entire time we were there.

    Beautiful atmosphere. We sat on the deck for the view and the music! Our server, Marcus, was friendly and professional. Food was delicious and so were the cocktails. Marcus brought us samples of the frozen cocktails so we could decide what we wanted. Definitely recommend a trip to Palmettos!

    This was our second visit here. The food is good, but the chef’s interpretation of “medium” temperature steaks has been consistently cooler than what I and my family consider to be medium. The steaks we’ve had there both times were cool and purple in the center, versus being warm & pink, and had bled all over the frites they were served with. Clearly medium rare. This was the same with the duck we had last time, and the burgers my kids had at the prior visit as well. If you want medium, you’ll have to ask for medium well, and hope that will translate to what most steak restaurants serve as medium temperature. The server was very attentive and friendly, and the cocktails were good as well.

    Palmetto's is always enjoyable. Grace our server was great and did the best possible with the circumstances. Our experience was less than optimal because our 6:30pm reservation placed us in the position of having to readily order entrees since the kitchen was closing, there was a limited number of steaks available for our party of 8 persons, and then last-call for the bar came soon after we arrived and were seated. When we ordered dessert we ask about coffee and to her credit, Grace said she would be happy to make a pot if we wanted it. So I was surprised that they accepted a reservation for 6:30pm if it all closed down at 7:00pm which limited the menu, placed us in a bit of urgency about ordering, and made it less than pleasant to feel rushed. Palmetto's has always been great - but I'd recommend they not accept a reservation later than 1 hour before closing in order to prevent tarnishing their reputation for great food, southern hospitality, and superior service.

    It’s a lovely restaurant, the best in Slidell in my opinion. Was a bit disappointed as I had looked at the menu on Open Table and it was not up to date. Had to adjust my choice on the fly, and it was delicious, but would have been better if the menu was updated.

    My wife and I went to Palmettos for Sunday Brunch on her birthday, and it was very good. We both had the Speckled Trout Almondine. Highly recommended. It was packed again, and everybody seemed very happy.

    First time dining there. Really nice food, well prepared and served by a really nice server. ( Natalia ). We went for my wife's birthday and decided on the Sunday Brunch menu. We will definitely go back to Palmettos again!
