Palmettos on the Bayou
Enjoy gumbo, seared duck breast, or crawfish beignets to start your meal at Palmettos on the Bayou. Entrees include steak, catfish, shrimp and more. Finish your meal with bread pudding featuring a whiskey caramel sauce or a dessert cocktail such as the basil cucumber lemonade. Guests of Palmettos are encouraged to arrive early for the limited seats in the dining space.
I love this place, you have experience it being by the Bayou so soothing and relaxing ☺️
The food was delicious! We reserved 2 outdoor seats for brunch but when we got there, we were informed there was a party so we had to sit inside. We were disappointed as this was a special occasion.
Great food. Our table was too close to the bar and the noise level was extreme!
We are so glad to hear you enjoyed the food. If your table is a bit noisy on your next visit, just let us know. We will always try to move you where you are most comfortable if we are able.
The scenery was beautiful, the food was delicious 😋
The music 🎶 was phenomenal
There is nothing like a jazz band on the bayou. Thank you for the kind review.
Great food in a wonderful setting makes for an enjoyable evening.
Thank you do much for the review. The bayou is a wonderful place to have dinner. We look forward to seeing you next time.
Our waitress was fantastic! The food and drinks were really good.
We do have some of the best servers around. Thanks for the review. We look forward to your next visit.
We've discovered a gem! When deciding upon a restaurant, I'd Googled "Louisiana's most scenic restaurants" and the search returned Palmettos. Nestled along the bayou among tall Cypress trees, we dined on the upper deck and were privy to spectacular views. Our family attended the Jazz Brunch in celebration of our daughter's 9th birthday. The music was lovely and enhanced the ambience. The buffet attendant arranged for the saxophonist to come to the table and play a verse of "Happy Birthday" for our girl! Both she and our waitress were notably kind, helpful and attentive. The buffet provided an assortment of delicious traditional and Louisiana Cuisine. We could not have been more pleased with the entire experience. I would highly recommend Palmettos and look forward to dining there again soon.
Thank you so much for this kind review. We work hard to make sure every guest has a memorable experience. It is wonderful to hear that we succeeded in your case. We can't wait to see ya'll next time.
Great place for an excellent meal and varied menu.
Glad you enjoyed everything. Thanks for the review!
My file was ordered medium rare, came out well done, dry, and my complaints fell on deaf ears, we will not be back
I enjoy Palmetto’s every time we go. I introduced several of my family members to Palmetto’s on a Sunday and they are already looking to go back soon. The food is great, the ambiance & scenery. I love it!
Thanks for the review and thanks for bringing your family by. It is great to hear that you all enjoyed your visit. Can't wait to see yall next time.
Absolutely wonderful!! Everything is always exceptional!!!!
You are just too kind. Thank you for the review!
Service slow for Sunday brunch. Food not of the quality I expected as when I eat there and order from the menu. Food off daily menu exceptional as always but not available during brunch. Also, there is no charge for certain alcoholic drinks during brunch but you are charge for tea ???.
All in all , my daughter and I were truly disappointed. Will not do brunch there again.
The chef is phenomenal - I loved the duck breast and the grilled oyster appetizer special was out of this world. Service was prompt and personable. Highly recommend.
Thank you so much for the review. I will let Chef know that you enjoyed everything. Can't wait to see you next time.
disappointing Sunday Brunch Buffet
1- several empty chafing dishes
2- carving items dried out
3-buffet items disorganized
4- not many dessert options
5-served cold coffee
6-Manager and waitstaff started to reset restaurant at 1:45pm guest should not experience resetting of the restaurant, should be done after guest leave
7-Closed door to buffet at exactly 2pm- was not told buffet was closing- guest should be told by the server buffet is closing and would they like anything else
8-bloody mary was good, which was included
9-no salt and pepper on the table, had to rquest it
10- As there is no difference in the price- guest should expect the same quality and experience whether you went at 10am or 1pm clearly this is not the case. Very disappointed
Thank you for the feedback. We are working on some value adding improvements to the buffet at the moment. We will certainly take your input into account as we move forward.
It was great, sitting outside can get a little hot
August does offer its challenges when it comes to summertime heat. We are glad that you had a great time besides that. Next time you come by, we will make sure to get you a cool spot inside.
All the food we had was outstanding , steak and scallops cooked perfectly, wife had stuffed soft shell crab it also was delicious
Thank you for the review. We are glad you enjoyed everything. We can't wait to see you next time.
Another great meal at Palmettos in Slidell. Our waitress Nathalie was great. The caprese salad, the duck, the grits with debris, and the bananas Foster dessert were delicious. Good portions. The drinks were very good and the beer cold. Noise level is low, allowing for natural conversation to take place. Have been for their Sunday jazz brunch too, highly recommend it. We’ll be back soon
Thank you so much for the review. Natalie is a fantastic server. We are so glad that you enjoyed everything. Ya'll certainly made some good menu choices. We look forward to seeing you next time.
First time doing the jazz brunch and was not disappointed. The staffed handled a full crowd very well and efficiently. It is definitely best to have a reservation. Food was fabulous and very well done. Many assortments for every pallet.
Thank you so much for this review. Brunch can be busy, but we work hard to make sure everyone has a great time. Thank you for the acknowledgment. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit.
We went for the brunch. We were seated inside. It was so hot inside we were dripping wet in sweat. Twice during meal I asked for the air to be turned on. It was all we could do to hurry and eat to escape the heat. I called later that afternoon and spoke to manager David who didn’t add any insight other than the servers get hot too and to try again for lunch or dinner. For the price of the dinner for a birthday celebration it was a miserably disappointing expensive dining experience. I would seek alternate choices totally unacceptable for August dining inside a restaurant.
We went for Sunday brunch. We were sat at a table next to a window that hasn't been cleaned in years. The service was friendly. However, the buffet left a lot to be desired.
The boiled shrimp were hard to peel, the beef debris & grits were salty, the carving station served medium temp roast & over spiced pork and was at room temperature. There wasn't an omelet station, The scrambled egg chaffing pan was empty and not replenished while we were there.
Even at their very affordable price, I would have a hard time going back.
Thank you for your feed back. We will certainly relay this information to our chef. We have not had an omelet station in a number of years, but we are currently working on adding it back to the buffet next month, so we will be offering eggs benedict and omelets. We hope that you enjoyed the other aspects of your experience and we would love to have you back for lunch, brunch, or dinner.
You will not be disappointed with the food at Palmettos! Everything is fresh and great. The service is always slow but the servers are extremely personable. The hosts aren't quick to find your preferred seating. We sat by the door and had people waiting to be seated standing right on top of us. The noise level may be better if you don't have groups of people standing within 2 feet of you. There is only one ladies room so that is a big negative in my book.
We went for the Sunday jazz brunch. It was buffet style which I normally do not prefer. However, all of the food was amazing. everything tasted home cooked. I went back three times because I kept wanting to try new things. Everyone working was exceptionally kind and making sure we were taken care of the entire time. This is one of the easiest five star ratings to give. Overall this was a great unexpected surprise. We will definitely be going back.
We went to Palmettos to celebrate our anniversary and were not disappointed. We both got the fresh fish specials and both were flavorful, well prepared and presented. We chose to sit outside, which was probably not the best choice for a place on the water in southern Louisiana in August, but they had fans out, which helped somewhat.
We are glad you had such a lovely anniversary. August certainly has its challenges. We are always trying to battle mother nature with our army of fans. Thank you for leaving this nice review. We look forward to seeing next time.
Exceptional restaurant with absolutely wonderful cajon food. Our special restaurant for dinner. Service was impeccable.
Always a lovely & tasty brunch at Palmetto's. The jazz music is a beautiful touch as you sit outside enjoying the view.
We had an amazing meal! Cannot decide what was best: the food, the atmosphere, or the service. All outstanding! We had the crawfish beignets, shrimp remoulade and grilled romaine wedge salad, and seafood pot pie. All excellent followed by delicious bread pudding. Absolutely loved this establishment!!
Great venue and great food!! You can't beat the Shrimp and Grits!
Everything was wonderful. Layla was great. I am looking forward to coming for Sunday Brunch.
1- charred Caesar salad would be better topped with a running yellow poached egg
2- servers carrying wine glasses in their hands. Hands should never touch the bowl of wine glasses
Should always be carried on a tray
great food, great atmosphere.
Was perfect for a small birthday dinner!
Wonderful Jazz Brunch! Enjoyed the variety in the food and wonderful service!
I made a reservation through here, when we got to the restaurant our table was not available inside like requested so they had us sit outside so we didnt have to wait longer. With that said we really enjoyed being outside with a jazz band playing great music. After that we were seated and were able to enjoy the incredible food at the jazz brunch spread. I do highly recommend the brunch here. For $25 a person it is well well worth the great food. My only other complaint is that the service was very slow based on refills and just overall anything we had to wait for.
This place is a beautiful setting and the food is excellent. However, since it is a buffet, the wait staff forgets to come back to fill your drinks, get more drinks from the bar and clear away used plates. The service just needs to be monitored better by the management on duty to make the experience cohesive. It’s in the details.
My Family and I enjoyed everything about this place, from the service, food, and surroundings . I must say we'll definitely be returning .
My husband & I drove from New Orleans to Slidell to meet with friends we rarely get to see (Slidell was a halfway point). We booked on open table a reservation for 4 at 7:45 on a Sunday night. 7:45 should not have been an option because the restaurant closes at 8 p.m. As soon as we sat down, the waiter asked us for our entree order. We were asked if we would like dessert (so the kitchen staff could be sent home if we didn't want dessert) before we even finished our entrees. We were given a bill before dessert was over and when we asked for another drink, were told that the "till had been closed for the night." All of this before 9:30. I know Slidell is a sleepy little town, but if the restaurant doesn't want diners to dine after 8 pm, they should offer their last reservation at 6:30. The food was mediocre and expensive ($120, each couple) and the patio was pretty but the mosquitos were as big as hawks.
Friendly, welcoming staff, every one of them. Starts your evening in a positive, happy way.
Outstanding experience great food, service etc...a must visit
Exotic, casual, swamp environment with EXCELLENT food. The sauces on the fish and shrimp dishes were exquisite. The turtle soup and even the gumbo were wonderful to this native New Orleanian. PERFECT for a party in my future! It's great to be so delighted on a first visit!
The restaurant is too loud for regular conversation.
The entre's were great. We tried all of the desserts recommended. None was edible.
Service was a little slow considering small crowd.
In fact, we plan to bring our family and friends from Albuquerque, NM to dine at Palmettos On the Bayou this weekend.
We'll be back again and again!
This was our last night in Slidell after spending a week in NOLA. We were so hoping for a nice dinner and we DID! We are pretty particular about our dining experiences and Palmettos did not disappoint. The outdoor dining area is beautiful and the food was very good. Our waiter was friendly and engaged. All in all, it was a lovely evening and we were all happy we chose Palmettos.
