The service was outstanding, between the waiter and the host, unfortunately that's where the positive comments end. While the location is very convenient to the Bergen PAC, the food was mediocre at best - bland, dry, lacking flavor and simply disappointing. Had high hopes for the restaurant, and while, portion size was good and prices were reasonable, doubtful for a return.
Food was pretty good although overpriced. We were 4 people. We had 3 appetizers, 4 mains, 1
Dessert and 6 drinks for $247. For $125 a couple plus tip I could think of better places in the area. Service was great because we were literally the only ones in the restaurant !
my boyfriend and I search for great brunch locations and we happened upon palmers crossing! what a great find. all you can eat buffet and unlimited mimosas - terrific price as well. and the service was over the top - hugo and Kiara were attentive and pleasant. we will be back often.
Upon entering, it was five or so minutes before we were even addressed by someone, and the restaurant was not busy. After being seated, no one came to the table to bring us water or bread. We waited about 20 minutes to give them the benefit of the doubt, and then left because we were too hungry to wait any longer. No one even addressed us as we walked out. Overall it was a disappointing experience. They must be having some management issues.
The service at Palmer's Crossing exceeded my expectations. The servers were so polite and attentive to me and my date. I had one of their salads and it was delicious. They situated us at the perfect table for privacy too. I would definitely recommend this place for intimate dates and great food. Their meal wasn't made with low quality ingredients.
I was attended the moment of stepping in the door. The waiter was so hospitality that he took the time to get an extra chair for my coat. The food was delicious. I had their margarita pizza and it was very tasty and satisfying portion. I will definitely come there again.
We went for a family birthday dinner, and were very pleased. The maitre d was highly attentive, and surprised us with a piece of birthday cake at the end of the meal. The food was quite enjoyable, and the ambience was very quiet, a real benefit as two of our party are slightly hearing impaired. It felt like we were honored guests from start to finish.
Stayed at the Clinton Inn on Thanksgiving and went to Palmer's Crossing for our Thanksgiving meal. We were surprised that we had a beautiful private room. The service was outstanding, and there were plenty of selections on the Thanksgiving buffet. Everyone left happy and stuffed.
Bad service and mediocre food. They were understaffed, but it was a very slow night. It took twenty minutes just to get menus, and the place was practically empty. The menu they have online does not match their actual menu. The food was ok, but considering the price it should have been better.
We were pleased to find this "new" (that is, new management, old location) restaurant within a couple of miles of our house. The garlic and olive oil served with the bread were especially welcome. Everything tasted good although one of us received a MUCH bigger portion than the other. We only wish the menu offered more choices.
The service was awful. There was only 1 waiter, 1 manager and 1 bus person.
Aside from tending to at least 22 to 24 table they also handle waiting on the bar tables for food and cocktail service. They are extremely busy because of Happy Hour and the early bird dinner specials. The waiter comes to our table no introduction, mention of specials or asking of a drink before dinner. When I asked for a wine list his comment was you get a glass of wine with the early bird special. I said we're not having the early bird special. He brought the list and never came back to ask us for our drinks so we went to the bar and got our own drinks. After waiting for 45 minutes to an hour to be asked what we'd like he took our order. The food was below average and nothing special. In fact the menu was lack luster and nothing great and really low end meats, seafood and appetizers offered. We had to ask for a desert and coffee menu. We ordered cappuccino's that served them one at a time. Only two were served and then we were told the machine broke. We had to ask twice to pay our bill. It's a shame it had been years since I was last at this restaurant. Wow, as it changed and declined in all aspects.
Will not be going back there for dinner ever again. However, the bar seemed like fun and was being tended to much better
they do not honor any coupons that they advertise, when w present our coupon to them they said it was not valid nor good for sunday brunch . we argue with them as the site for the coupon had no restrcitions on the use of the coupon after a long discussion among the staff and manager they finally accept the coupon
I arrived early and was immeadiatelly seated by a very courteous waitress who could not do enough to make my meal an enyoyable experience. I had the friday night prime rib buffet and the choices of sides were outstanding , the prime rib was cooked to perfection and the chef was very generous on his cutting of the prime rib. The salad and shrimp bar was outstanding and the desert was excellent all and all the total experience was a 5 star for a buffet style meal.
I have eaten at Palmer's Crossing many times. I always wanted to go to The Friday Night Prime Rib Buffet. I went tonight and the food was good and so was the service. But their website stated the price for the buffet was $21.95 when I got the check it was $26.95. When I told the manager about
the price discrepancy he said, "I know we did not update the website". He would not honor the posted internet price, and I felt it was wrong and I will not go there again. So, I want to state, if you go to The Friday Night Prime Rib Buffet, don't fall for the $21.95 advertised price, the actual price is $26.95. Beware the BAIT AND SWITCH !!!
The food is good every time we eat there. The menu varies so there's always something new each time go. The crab cakes are all crab, not filler, kudos for that! and their tartar sauce is homemade; very light and great flavor that really enhances the crab. Did I mention we had the crab cakes this evening? :-) service can be a bit on the slow side but the good thing about that is they never rush you. Oh! And the Early Bird menu is really a good deal! Enjoy!
We never made it to the restaurant because after booking a brunch for my mother's 60th birthday on open table, the restaurant called to say that they could not honor the reservation, which was very disaapointing because I was relying on the reservation and didnt make any alternate arrangements and by the time they called it was too late to book elsewhere.
If I could give zero stars to this place, I would! What an awful restaurant! Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to eat!
The ambiance was tacky, our waiter wasn't attentive or helpful, and the food was garbage.
Strike one, the bread they brought out was completely flavorless and obviously frozen, then reheated in the oven.
Strike two, I ordered the Blackened Chicken Pasta which was supposed to have a cream sauce. When it arrived, it had a tomato sauce which I am allergic to. The dish I received was not represented well in the menu and I was forced to wait for a second entrée to be made.
Strike three, between the three up us we ordered: Salmon with shrimp and risotto which was once again frozen and perfumed with the taste of plastic. Polynesian ribs that were essentially one large slab of fat, so dry you could use it as a frisbee, accompanied by cold, soggy french fries. And a meat pizza made on a store bought thin crust that made Pizza Hut seem like gourmet dining!
When asked what everyone thought of their dining experience, my friend replied that the highlight of her meal was her tic-tac she ate after she had given up on her salmon in plastic sauce!
Once again, I say to you: GARBAGE!
The reviews looked good, so I made a point of going to this restaurant, which is inside this Tenefly-situated hotel. Caesar salad didn't seem to have fresh Parmesan. Mushroom bisque was fine if a bit heavy. Crab cakes were tasty, but as an appetizer sized portion, this ended up being way too large. scallops in lobster-spring pea risotto was extremely heavy. There was no room for dessert, clearly, after such large portions.
We tried Palmers Crossing after reading previous diners reviews. Being unaware of the restaurant before, we decided to go for their Friday Roast Beef Buffet. The beef was tough and required lots of chewing. The rest of the buffet onsisted of not deveined boiled cocktail shrimp. Lettuce wedges, caedar salad, grilled mushrooms, corn on the cob, mac and cheese, mashed white potatoes, roasted white potatoes, soggy cold julienned sweet potatoes and creamed spinach.for dessert, chocolate or tiramisu cake slices. No beverages included. The buffet ispriced at $21.95 pp . Coffee was $3.95.
The restaurant is connected to the hotel in Tenafly which makes it very convenient or hotel guests.
Palmer's is an easy place to get in to as you can pull right up to the door and there are not stairs from the main entrance. This makes it ideal for someone not able to walk far. The restaurant was busier than usual but the service was faster than usual, which was good. Our waiter was very attentive and gracious. The food was very good and the Early Bird menu had ample choices. The only thing I'd suggest is for the Apple Pie a la Mode. We all agreed the pie should be warm not straight from the fridge, for a nice contrast with the ice cream. Actually it should never be ice cold!
Service was very slow because there was a big party that ordered ahead of us. The waitstaff thought they kitchen was too slow too. My fish was perfectly cooked only the sauce seemed to be exactly the same as the frogs legs entree which is not how they were described on the menu.
We would go back and try other dishes and see if we are served faster next time.
