Our reservation was for Sunday, 9/4 @ 7:30 pm ET. When we arrived there was practically no one in the restaurant - maybe 7-8 people. It took the hostess 5-10 minutes to acknowledge us (she was setting up other tables, etc.) Once seated, no one came to our table to take our drink orders, etc. We sat there for about 10 minutes and decided to leave. Would definitely NOT go back nor recommend this place to anyone.
Have been there several times previously overall very good, this time three things we ordered they were out off we weren't told in advance seemed unprofessional
We order the fillet mignon and tuna which were both delicious. We also had an appetizer that was very tasty. We made a reservationand had to wait 15 minutes which was not a big deal because we sat at the bar and had a drink. And then at 9 PM which was perfect timing. Overall great experience.
We sat at the bar and both my husband's and my dinner were delicious! The wait staff was very attentive and we had a lovely evening!
The food was great with a very good variety. They don't usually do a buffet for brunch but this was Mother's Day so it was different.
Sadly it was not a good dining experience. No hostess=standing there for ten minutes with no one acknowledging us.
And we had a reservation.
Service was mediocre. Appetizers not even lukewarm. Entrees were nothing to ever return for.
What a shame as it is such a great location.
Great service, good ambiance, nice go-to dining.
We were looking for a casual meal out. Everyone ordered simple pub grub (burgers, sliders...). All were good. One member did not enjoy the crab cakes. Service and ambiance were pleasant. Looking forward to returning and trying the entrees.
Very good dinner we took our kids and had a blast. They have a cool candy store attached along with a movie theatre. Cool spot to grab dinner and a movie with the kids!
Ran a little late for our 8:00 movie so we let our server know. Not only was our meal served with plenty of time to make the movie but the food was incredible. My son ordered a filet and he noted it was one of the best he's had in years. I had the tuna; it was also excellent.
Five stars all around the board.
This is a small town - don't forget that when dealing with customers. You could see them on the street the next day. Our steaks were not cooked correctly and had to be returned. One steak still not cooked as requested, but edible. Our waitress repeatedly apologized and acknowledged the errors. Presented a Palmers gift card but informed it couldn't be accepted b/c the card was apparently only valid in Andover - a fact not easily found on the card without a magnifying glass, but the staff knew b/c they are color coded. When we approached the manager - we had to find her as she did not seek us out even though the place was empty - she feigned an apology then turned her back on us to end the civil but honest feedback/conversation. We left disappointed and not wanting to return.
The food was excellent, but the service was very slow. We were there for 2 hrs, which depending on the group could be fine, but in this case was way too long. The noise from the bar was very loud so it was hard to carry on a conversation. I didn't like how there was no door separating the restaurant and the movie theater. Besides the smell of popcorn permeating the dining room, it kind of ruined the atmosphere for me. Teenagers hanging out in the booths just outside the door is not really what I want to be looking at when dining at a restaurant in this price range. If the atmosphere/noise level could be improved, this could be a restaurant I'd return to often because the food was very, very good. I got the trout amandine and my mother got their version of a lobster roll. We both enjoyed them very much.
Great locals restaurant. The team is fabulous.
We have dined at Palmers for dinner more often than for lunch. We love the ambiance of both dining outside and in. Wonderful to have such a delectable restaurant within walking distance. The service has always been very good.
First time for Sunday brunch and it was a perfect choice! The hostess, manager and waitress, Katy, were all very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, and the musician playing in the background, certainly added to our, already enjoyable, dining experience. We all left with a full tummy and a smile on our face!
Looking forward to our next visit to Palmer's.
We had such a wonderful evening, from beginning to end! Our server, Leila, was as good a waitress as we have ever had at at the finest of dining restaurants. The food was delicious, generous in portion, and extremely fair in price. Palmers is on the top of our list for future places to dine.....due to our exceptional experience.
This was our third time dining at Palmer's. Great menu variety, excellent preparation and presentation. Portions are generous. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped with our food choices. Great dining option in Marblehead and off-street parking!
I was looking forward to a repeat brunch of short rib hash topped with eggs. The over easy eggs came out with broken overcooked yolks, hash was a side of home fries mixed with a few globs of dry unseasoned short rib. VERY disappointing. My husband had the lobster asparagus omelet that was heavy on asparagus, sparse on lobster. We have been fans of Palmer's since they opened experiencing some inconsistencies along the way, but always having a good overall experience. Unfortunately this was so bad we will not be returning soon, and would not consider recommending Palmer's for brunch.
We went for Father's Day brunch. It took over an hour and a half to be served our food. The eggs Benedict had thick, over cooked, dry pieces of pork, not ham. It was terrible. The other meals were lukewarm. I hope they can get their act together because it is nice to have this in town.
the portions were small and the prices were too high!
Another great dinner at Palmer's! Food is very good, the service was attentive.
Excellent first time experience, great food and service, nice atmosphere. Palmer's is a keeper especially for special occasions.
This was my second visit to Palmers at Warwick Place. The menu has changed since my earlier visit and is less adventurous, but it is still quite extensive. On this visit I had one of the signature cocktails, the Lente Loco. It was pleasant. Oysters came with a good variety of sauces. I ordered the center cut filet mignon medium rare, and it was served just as ordered, tender and flavorful. The blue cheese on top was nicely melted — a trifle salty for my taste, but blue cheeses tend to be salty. The roasted asparagus was tasty, as were the plentiful mashed potatoes.
My reservation was for 8:30 on a Tuesday evening and when I arrived there were two other parties in the dining area, so things were quiet. The room and its appointments are elegant. Service was impeccable — attentive and courteous without being at all pushy.
It was a very enjoyable dinner, and I definitely recommend Palmers at Warwick Place for fine dining. There is also a nice selection of "Pub Favorites" available and an attractive bar area.
Went here for my birthday Friday night. Walked no, no hostess so we wondered into the restaurant looking for someone to seat us. We procceeded to be given looks like we had 8 heads from the staff and then they said oh no one is there? Someone will be right over. About 5 minutes later someone came over and asked if we had a reservation. I said yes, I booked online as no one had given me a call back earlier that week. The "hostess" then proceeded to tell us that we didn't have a reservation. She asked for first name, gave it to her, and I pulled up the email. A few minutes later she stated we only have a reservation for and said my last name. I said yes, that is me. After that was straigtened out, she said our table would be a few minutes. Ok, absolutely no problem. She then got some menus and we headed to our table, which was still being cleared off and was not ready and the wait staff proceeded to then have an arguement in front of us over who would be taking our table. This was not something I was expecting whatsoever. We then were asked to go back to the enterance and wait even longer until the table was cleared off. It was a very awkward situation as the hostess had absolutely no clue what she was doing. People were sat ahead of us as well which we weren't too pleased about. I'm not a snob about this kind of stuff, but it was obvious they didn't have a clue what they were doing. All in all, we sat at our table about 20 minutes after we got there, our waitress was good, and the food was unbelievable. If it wasn't for the mishap and the hostess in the beginning of the night, this would have been 5 stars for me.
It was just ok. Didn't really WOW me. Felt a bit rushed by the waitress. Food was just ok...nothing special. Convenient if you are going to a movie.
Valentine's dinner menu was featured - we had the char and the haddock. Char was the winner with a molasses spice finish. Haddock was underwhelming but nice - a creme fraiche was a little too subtle for the dish. Baked brie app was very nice, as were the profiteroles for dessert.
Palmer's is a reliable destination on the North Shore. you won;t be blown away, but you won;t be disappointed either.
I have been pleasantly surprised on my two visits to Palmers. After my first visit I couldn't quite remember why I liked this place. Perhaps it was the expectation that I would be paying dearly for decent food with the glamour of dining in Marblehead. When I first walked in the clientele and ambience geared me up for what I expected to be a pricey night. To my surprise I found the meals not only affordable but fun. While the food isn't the equivalent of higher end dining the quality very much exceeds the price. The staff was cordial but not overwhelming. Each of the two times we dined were Friday nights. One time with reservations and one time without. Each time we were seated promptly. Another nice surprise. My date and I were equally satisfied/pleased with our dishes (fish for her and beef dish for me). My second trip both our meals were slightly overcooked but not within the range of where we would complain. My favorite part of the dining experience was seeing journeying over to the thearter afterwards. They actually allow you to bring you cocktails with you. Note that one does not have to go outside as this is all outdoors. I will stop writing now because we prefer to keep Palmers as our little secret. 2 entrees , 2 apps, 5 cocktail drinks: total $110 without gratuity.
This wasn't our first time here and we live in the area, so we were really disappointed when we experienced a downward trend in the quality of the food. Especially, the clam chowder that my husband ordered--------watery, canned clams, unacceptable.
The meal was great, the food was great, the wine exceptional and the prices right. Loved this place.
Seating was comfortable, and the lighting was perfectly dim. There was enough distance from the noise of the bar and excitement of a cocktail party happening simultaneously. My date and I enjoyed the decor and style of the restaurant. Our waitresses were prompt and courteous. The selection of food was delightfully eclectic and very well priced in comparison to other nearby establishments. Our food was cooked in a timely manner and was absolutely delicious.
Food was excellent, service top-notch, and the ambiance very nice. We planned to attend a movie next door after dinner, but changed our minds, and decided to catch the movie the following night. Both experiences were very positive. We will definitely go back.
Good friendly service but very variable food. First time we went, Fri early evening, all food excellent. This time, later on a Sat evening, good recipes but bad execution: Remoulade for calamari dried onto the plate; calamari tough; papardelle as tough as leather (good sauce); tuna tartare 'right at the edge', but a good recipe; chicken tenders fried almost black.
I had the salmon... Very good. He ordered the 1/2 chicken. It was a quarter chicken from a very small bird. He was still starving after he cleaned his plate. His greens were also very oily. Bottom line is mine was good and his will prevent us from returning, sadly. Our server was a gem, however.
We had an early dinner on a Friday night and had a delicious cocktail, a craft beer, split an appetizer, and both had fish for an entree- one salmon and one haddock. Our meals were delicious, reasonably priced, and served in a nice atmosphere close to home. What more can one ask for?
This was our second dinner at Palmer's. We were disappointed. The food was bland, the kitchen was slow despite only m two other tables in the dining room. Sorry to say that I won't be going back. The waitress was attentive and polite, but that falls short when the rest of the experience falters.
The staff was very friendly, efficient and accommodating. The waitress was knowledgeable of the menu and answered all our questions without hesitation. Our food choices were all excellent. Home made bread pudding for dessert. YUM. To think we could have enjoyed a move before or after.
Excellent clam chowder, better than many seafood restaurants I've been to. Also an excellent filet.
Palmers (Warwick Place) opportunity to become the best of North Shore.
Need to figure out how to provide better service from their kitchen. Too long waits for delivering excellent food.
although the restaurant was not busy, the service was exceptionally slow, the food was mediocre and not on par with the pricing which is that of a special occasion place. We have been to Palmers many times because it is convenient and when they first opened both the food and service were good and we recommended the restaurant to others. But with very few changes to the menu over time and what seems to be a downward trend in food quality and service, we will reluctantly take it off of our list of regular destinations.
Nice decor & table settings, Good service. Thanked us for coming. Fish and chips and pasta dish were very good. Other menu items appeared a bit pricey.
