It has always been the restaurant in Miami since I started eating there. Years ago, the second to last Chef before the present one prepared the best sequence of three dishes I have ever had: A tartine with bellota ham, pieces of terrine de foie gras and fresh figs, a black truffle risotto, and a duck magret " Apicius".
Mr. Pugin often achieved flashes of brilliance, including the most memorable venison ever, but the last time my friends and I ate his six course tasting menu, every dish was absolute perfection. our praise was so effusive that he came out to greet us and we had the honor of meeting the gentleman. I am baffled how his ex-sou chef has taken over as Chef de Cuisine cooking at the very same level where he left off.
The Michelin guide only awards one star at a time unless they have just begun to cover a whole new region. If it ever starts to rate restaurants in Miami, all this restaurant needs is a more ample amuse bouche offering to achieve an immediate 3 star rating.
As usual a great experience.
Great food with affordable menus for the quality.
Great service, rich wine list making a great experience overall.
Was ok. Need some french accent in service & cuisine. Need a more authentic cuisine with a french twist!...
Get some real french baguette!
The food was excellent, but the portions were a bit on the small side... that being said, if we could afford it, we'd be back next week!!
Elegant atmosphere with a casual feel. Portions were small
Went for Miami Spice. The menu was included with the regular menu without having to ask for it, and the wait staff actually encouraged it. Were seated promptly at a table facing the pool. The restaurant is old world elegant in style. Multiple servers took care of us, starting with water, drinks, and then The food order. We had the shrimp - 3 large Madagascar shrimp over tabouleh - and beet salad - several different types of beets with goat cheese. Both were excellent. For entrees we had the lamb paccheri pasta - very creamy and tasty, and the beef tenderloin - a decent size piece of perfectly cooked, tender meat with various vegetables. For dessert we had the cream puff - a profiterole with vanilla cream and a caramel center - and the chocolate cake. Both were excellent although not as sweet as expected. I would go with the cream puff. We then received an additional dessert - 4 small bite size cookies (macaroon, chocolate, etc). We did not experience any of the complaints noted by other reviewers (bad table, small portions, attitude because of ordering from the Spice menu instead of the regular one, etc). Everything was excellent from the setting (although the lights could have been dimmed a bit), the service, and most importantly the food.
My only comment would be that the service was a little "robotic", meaning functional, but not really warm or personal, which is different from the service elsewhere at the Biltmore. We also noted that it was our Anniversary at the time we made our reservation, but this was not recognized in any way.
Superb service and excellent food are the norm here. I had a birthday bouquet delivered for my wife and they made sure to have it waiting at our table when we arrived. We have been coming here for years and will continue coming.
I do not have enough words to describe the quality of the Food, Service and ambiance here. My teenagers selected this restaurant to take me for my birthday and it could not have been a better choice. We greeted by the most pleasant hostess. The service from our Waitress Rosemary B. was one of if not THE BEST I have had. She was amazing, conversed with the Teens, explained the menu and recommended a lovely wine for me. We had the Miami Spice Menu and every course out did the one before.....EVERYTHING WAS GOOD including the portions. A little special birthday greeting accompanied my dessert. The experience could not have been better. The Biltmore & their restaurants never disappoint.. from my days at the University of Miami to now. I Will continue going back !!!
The greeter was inattentive when we approached her. She was too busy answering the phone instead of greeting us. Had to wait for another person to show us to the table. Piped music was way too loud and had to request it be turned down. This was a fine dining restaurant not a bistro. The tables for two were too distant and not intimate. Had to practically raise your voice which carried in the cavernous dining room. The food presentation was excellent and appealing just as it should have been. The service was excellent. We noticed a mostly young female staff which were courteous, diligent, and efficient with their delivery of service.
Excellent dining experience. Impecable service and outstanding food. Kudos to the Executive Chef Roger Fiallo, his staff and the dining room staff.
Fabulous food, service and ambiance.
Went again on Saturday 9/21. Had their Miami Spice menu. Their's is about Miami's best for sure. Only complaint is that often they have a supplemental charge for specific selections. So not really a Miami Spice special on those.
And their cheese tray, fabulous!
And their own Biltmore wine labels, all really very good.
If you want excellence in quality of food, service and ambience, go to the Palm d’Or. With the Miami Spice menu, you can have all this at a very reasonable price. Try the shrimp salad for starters or the squid. Both fresh & delicious. For main, we had the beef tenderloin. Perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. Ended dinner with the cream puff. The picture says it all. Yummy. Great food and a super attentive staff make this one of the best restaurants in Miami.
We had Miami Spice menu. It was not as good as in previous years, but we still had a good experience.
Excellent food, great service, outstanding atmosphere, way above average quality
I absolutely adore this restaurant! Very classy, great food, great service, beautiful location. The French food is out of this world! Best lobster bisque I have had in a long time. I would eat in this restaurant every day if I could! I’m planning to return! Thank you!
Dinner was perfect, wine was perfect, service was perfect! Did Miami spice menu and the octopus ally was tender, flavorful and HUGE! The entree of tenderloin was prepared exactly medium rare as requested and was flavorful and melted in my mouth. I did the upgrade dessert and went for the cheese cart while my hubby did the chocolate cake...both were delicious! Wine pairings of Cakebread Chardonnay with the octopus was nice. The Biltmore Red Bordeaux matched perfectly with the steak too. It was refreshing when I asked between the two Biltmore Reds that the server actually recommended the one that was slightly less. Unusual for Miami and it was refreshing. Loved the service and the quality of the evening.
The service at this place is impeccable. It's almost to the point where it's slightly to much! But it was amazing. The food for the miami spice menu was great. We ordered one extra appetizer between the 2 of us because we were worried it may not be enough food, but if we did not have that extra appetizer we would have been fulfilled with our regular miami spice menu. Absolutely, must get the cream puff. 10/10 would go here again.
We had such a wonderful dinner! Palme d'Or is the best restaurant in Miami. The staff is eloquent, kind and just amazing. The food..FABULOUS! We love our Miami Spice at Palme d'Or! Thank you!!
Amazing time. Amazing food and service
We tried Miami spice and it was delicious! Octopus was very good and steak too!
I love The Biltmore Hotel, such an iconic place, I have been here for Brunch, for afternoon High Tea and now it was time to try Palme D’Or restaurant. Great place, great staff, we had the Miami Spice dinner menu, really really good, I would highly recommend it. The poached octopus and the Paccheri Lamb Pasta really delicious but the Cream Puff for dessert is to die for, soooooo good @biltmorehotel

With Miami Spice, it's really worth it. Food was very tasty :D
Worth the $39 Miami Spice visit. Food was very good. We will definitely come back to try what Palme d’ Or has on their regular menu. Thumbs up !
Portions too small short ribs tasteless but sea bass excellent as were appetizers and deserts
Great wine choice but highly overpriced.
We recommend it during Miami Spice otherwise it’s a bit expensive...
I just wrote a long, glowing review of this restaurant, our meal, and the professional, attentive and friendly wait staff, but it disappeared into the ether before it was posted, and I can't write another long review. Suffice it to say that we were delighted to see that Executive chef David Hackett and his sous chef Rogelio Fiallo, together with Pastry Chef Olivier Rodriguez have restored the Palme d'Or to its former glory as one of the best, and probably the very best of restaurants in Miami. We had a fabulous Miami Spice meal there last night, and shall certainly be returning, especially now that it is possible to order ala carte with such sublime food in an enchanting setting.
The Miami Spice menu was amazing! I personally recommend the stuffed oxtail crepe and the seared duck breast. Last, but definitely not least, the cream puff. It was heavenly!
I would recommend someone to try the Palme d'Or once. While the food was good, the portions were way too small!
The food was awful!
They gave us a hard, stale French bread. We asked for a fresh batch and they brought us a delicious brioche.
The crab salad, wasn’t crab. It looked like scrambled eggs with a piece of romaine lettuce thrown onto the plate.
I had corvina, as main coarse. It was tasteless.
The only thing good was the brioche bread and dessert.
Too much expectation, very underwhelming ...
One and done ..
Palm d' Or used to be the best of the best, now it's just ok. I've being coming to this place for years, food was always an experience, the finesse, the flavors, the presentation... now it's just like any other restaurant, good food and nice place, but it's just that :(
Wonderful! Miami Spice menu probably the best in Miami besides that this is the best restaurant in Miami. Not at all trendy and marketing. Service is impeccable as staff is clearly well trained unlike so many restaurants in Miami including the trendy expensive ones in Wynwood. Rosemary was terrific. The stuffed Oxtail crepe incredible, the seared foie gras incredible, the seared duck incredible, and the hanger steak incredible. And of course the cheese tray was divine. Even the Biltmore's own Bordeaux selections were great.
It's a beautiful location and the restaurant is very pretty and quiet. The service was good & the food was good as well.
My husband and I have celebrated our anniversary at Palm d'Or several times and we have been pleased, even though lately I have missed the extra elegant touch they used to show (bringing the food with covered with the silvered dome and other details). For the first course I had the OXTAIL CREPE that it looked like a tiny square phyllo pastry (the name was misleading for me) and it was good anyway. The second course was the CORVINA, a little small but good. The best thing, the dessert, absolutely outstanding. It was CREAM PUFF which the waitress recommended and she was right. My husband had the CRAB SALAD that looked very good but he did not touch the long romaine lettuce leaf, the second course was JACKMAN RANCH WAGYU STRIP STEAK, which has a name a lot larger than the portion and he failed to understand the extra 26 charge. While he was eating it he complained about the portion size. The dessert the MACAROON TART that looked delicious. They also brought a tray with candies with Happy Anniversary written on it. That was a nice touch, When the check arrived and he saw the extra $26 charge he was upset. The waiter said they could make and adjustment but he said no, that he was going to pay it but, according to him, it was misleading because since it did not have the dollar sign. The manager came in and she explained that Diamond restaurants are not allowed to write the $ sign or the word extra. Later I told him that for me it was not confusing and he said that he thought 26 supplement had something to do with nutrition. He said that he was not a coming back but I have a different opinion. I think the what really made him upset was the small size of his dish, that he said it needed 2 more strips (they were tiny) even before he knew the high price. I agree that the strip steak was way overpriced. Overall it was satisfactory with the exception of that particular dish. Since I have a sweet tooth, I still remember how I savored every bite of that dessert.
We had the Miami Spice menu, the food was delicious .
Our server was Yeinefer, she was exceptional!!
The evening began on an off note when we had to wait several minutes for the hostess to appear and then seat us at a table which was missing bread plates and the oil lamp. Especially weird since the dining room was only about half full. Otherwise service was excellent from the well trained staff. We selected the Spice Week menu along with wine pairings. The wines were all lovely, and the food overall was very good. Portion sizes for the starters and mains varied from large to petite with no apparent logic as to cost of ingredients. For the sample, the crab salad was a full dinner plate but the octopus was small. The seared duck breast, although tender and flavorful, was over cooked and flabby. One final comment: don’t expect to receive the house baked loaf of bread routinely served to each table. Spice Week guests receive only a few thin slices of baguette.
We had an amazing experience from the moment we arrived. The decor is so quaint with a charming oks world ambiance. Our party was seated immediately and the service was impeccable. From the appetizers, the seared foie gras, crab salad and poached octopus to main courses Jack man Wagyu strip steak, seared duck breast and corvina, were all cooked to perfection. Last but not least the desserts, the cream puff, macaroon tart and the selection of international cheeses, all delightful. An explosively delicious experience. Loved it and recommend it for a memorable occasion.
