Palme d'Or Ratings and Reviews
The food, ambiance and service were all top notch. However, the amount of food in my selection was minimal compared to the amount of bread and dessert that is offered. I would have liked a bit more of the “healthy” food options I selected than all of the bread that comes first and thereafter with each course to be followed by a cart of desserts and mini ice cream cones. All good, but a bit much. I did enjoy the food and would return but would love to see a bit more food on the plates in a progressive manner. When the first course was brought out I did expect it to be small, but expected each course to get a bit larger thereafter. Unfortunately, that was not the case. It felt as though I should have gotten full on the bread so as not to notice how little of the “real” food there actually was. Needless to say, if this is corrected, I think Palm D’or will have achieved perfection,
Incredible cuisine fit for foodies but the service was awful and completely fell apart at the end. You expect to sit for at least 2 hours for 11 courses, but not 4 hours. Server was young and inexperienced - forgetting many simple requests like lemons, fresh napkins and at one point our next courses. Would still return because the chef was incredible and the food was some the best I've had. I also really like that there's actually space in between the tables, which is a dying concept.
Wonderful 6 coarse meal with a couple of complementary extra palate cleansers added in for good measure. Waiter was spot on with his recommendations. Not sure of the $30 additional charge for Wago Beef on the $115 fixed price menu, but all well fine French dining is not cheap. A little expensive @ $600 with 1 drink at the bar and a nice bottle of wine with dinner and of course valet parking, but all things considered still worth it.
Miami spice menu excellent but there was a sense that we were less important because we weren’t having the regular menu. No amuse Bouche like in previous years. No cookies at the end. Even though it was empty we were ticked in the back behind the maitre d’. We still love the elegance and the ambiance. We were cold and so the brought lovely black shawls
Restaurant is high end and expensive. Food is normally excellent. We normally go during Miami Spice period only. I did to give top rating this time because a king crab first course was not very good, and the duck main course was small and very good, but not up to the restaurant's usual standards. Several reasonably priced wine choices were available. Desserts were very enjoyable.
We have been here in different occasions. As always, Palme D'Or never disappoints! They had the special menu for Miami Spice so we took advantage of that. However, a meal at this restaurant is like an adventure... everything from service, attention, detail and wine was superb! They even gave us a gift to take care. Special thanks to Christian for his recommendations. Looking forward to our next visit.
Best French Cuisine in Miami/Coral Gables. I have been dining here on special occasions for many years and I have never been disappointed. The Biltmore Hotel is a wonderful and beautiful hotel with elegance and history. The Palm d'Or is a delightful restaurant with a great location for the chef and staff to serve his creative French menu.
We had a wonderful Miami Spice dinner. Ordered supplements of foil gras appetizer and cheese platter, but it was still a great deal Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, but the dessert, Foret de Noir, was a true work of art! Will return for the regular tasting menu!
We choose the 6 course menu @ $115 each. Each menu item was good, but very small. (It's a good job they give a little bread with each dish, else we might of left still hungry :)
I was disappointed in the fact that they knew I was my wife's birthday dinner, and thought that they would at least put a candle on her desert at the end of the night. (like they did last year.) but this time they just gave her a card signed by the chef at the same time they gave me the check, and said this is for your birthday.
We'll find another restaurant to celebrate next year.
