Palma Ratings and Reviews
I was quite disappointed with the restaurant. Although the food was quite good, the service was poor and lacking. We were seated in the back room, which is the prettier of the two rooms available. Unfortunately we were placed at a table that the entire waitstaff used as a thoroughfare so that my wife's and my seat were constantly being brushed and knocked against by the staff. The waitress came over to our table twice to take our order even though one of the four of us was still waiting for their cocktail; taking an order early means courses are sure to show up before you're even halfway through the cocktail, which, in this case, they did. My wife was brought an incorrect entree; she finally received her entree almost 10 minutes after the rest of us. No apologies were given. Two glasses of wine ordered with the entree took too long to arrive. Finally the entire meal had a rushed feeling to it.
Many reasons to recommend but I'll limit it to the two checked off. It is a special jewel in an already magical neighbourhood and the food was delicious. My wife was especially grateful to find an option that not only met her dietary requirements but was a gastronomic delight. Excellent staff. Thank you.
Hidden on Cornelia Streeet is this lovely place with an outdoor garden (has a clear glass cover for bad weather). Excellent service & food. Will go there again, but this time I will remember to pay for my parking-I forgot as there was street work going on and I got a ticket).
My friend from work had told me a few times about Palma, but finally this week I went and I am happy I did.
I arrived a little earlier than my two friend and enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar. As soon as they both arrived we were seated promptly in a cozy seat in the covered garden.
The meal was fantastic starting with the frito misto and the various pasta dishes we ordered. Topped it of with some lovely desserts.
My husband and I were disappointed in the quality of the food. It was very bland. The roasted cauliflower was tasteless and the papardelle with lamb and olives had 1 olive in it and was also bland. And there were no salt or paper shakers on the table. When we asked for a pepper mill, it came to us empty. It's a shame that the food isn't better because the back garden seating area is charming. We went on a Sunday night, maybe it was the chefs day off.
