Palm sugar is an Asian restaurant with authentic Thai, Korean, Japanese, and Viet Namese foods. I have not had Asian food this good since I left California. Their Thai roasted chicken and pineapple fried rice are favorites of ours.

pad thai had no depth of flavors, not good at all
duck curry. they only do their version of a panang curry
no red or green at all.
must say .... the duck meat was cut nice and thick
the most TENDER duck in town. we get duck out, often.
i will be thinking about that duck. go for it

Our server was great but the system went down and we waited 45 min before finally insisting they tally up our bill by hand and paying by cash. Overall food was yummy. Bok choy amazing. Fish tacos so-so.

FLASH FRIED BOK CHOY WAS AMAZING, AS WERE THE SOUPS AND SAUTED SHRIMP DISHES.
THE STEAMED SHRIMP DUMPLINGS WERE DULL BASICALLY THEY ARE THE SAME AS THE ONES YOU BUY AT WHOLE FOODS OR ANY SUSHI TAKE OUT PLACE TO MICROWAVE AT HOME! THE SHRIMP LETTUCE WRAPS RATHER DREARY. THEY ARE BLAND DESPITE THE THREE NICE LITTLE SAUCE DISHES -MAINLY BECAUSE THE SHRIMP WERE JUST SPLIT IN HALF PRECOOKED SHRIMP NO FLAVOR, NOT GRILLED, BUT IN ALL FAIRNESS THEY WERE ON THE HAPPY HOUR MENU AND VERY INEXPENSIVE.
THE CURRY CHICKEN WAS DELICIOUS AND SO WAS THE STICKY RICE SERVED IN IT'S OWN LITTLE WICKER BASKET. PLENTY OF GOOD DISHES TRICK IS TO GO FOR THE SPICIER ONES WHICH ARE NOT SPICY JUST MORE FLAVORFUL!
(APOLOGIES FOR ALL CAPS. KEYBOARD JAMMED(

This restaurant seems to struggle with large parties, the sushi bar in particular. The food came out at different times and initially people waited for the people that ordered sushi to be served. The staff assured us the sushi was almost done multiple times. After waiting 10 min, most people elected to eat their now cold meals, while two friends continued to wait on the sushi. After waiting another 20 minutes, we decided to cancel the sushi order. We told the staff multiple times to cancel the order while they insisted the platter was on its way out. Eventually, 10 min later, they decided to serve the platter complimentary....and the sushi wasn't even good! The rest of the food tasted okay, but was cold, unfortunately. Im still not sure why our food took so long, because the restaurant was empty!

We tried Palm Sugar for the first time and wanted a place outside the typical cityplace scene. We enjoyed the variety on the happy hour menu which gave us the chance to try a variety of items. Their Crispy Bok Choy was fabulous. Pad Thai was excellent too. We will be back and gave them a rave review on tripadvisor as well.

We ended up here because there was a problem with our original reservation at another restaurant. Given that we were a party of 6 on a Saturday night we were fortunate that Palm Sugar could accommodate us. Pleasantly surprised by the very good quality of Thai food and prompt service. Each of us ordered a different item and everyone was very pleased by their choice.

Not worth patronizing. Very simple interior, rolls mediocre, and almost no patrons during happy hour. Much more lively spots with similar menus further down the next couple of blocks toward the park.

We ordered hot tea, after 10 minutes, no tea. Then a teapot arrived with luke warm tea - not a great start. Another 10 minutes - then hot tea! The food arrived at different times for each of us, it seemed like it was their 1st night open - very amateur. When we finally got the food, we were happy with our dishes. I wouldn't go back, nor recommend this restaurant.

This was my first time here and I will be back. I usually hate restaurants on clematis because they usually are so bland, but this restaurant had flavor and was true to their food. The pho was great and it is one of the only places I know in the area that serve takoyaki. Thank god I found a new place to frequent.

Also for the quality you get I can't understand how the prices are so reasonable!!!!

The food was awful almost inedible, which was too bad because the location was great and the service was really good. The people were very nice and accommodating, but again we couldn't eat our food. The chicken looked like pork and the sticky rice was burnt. Garlic fries were the one decent thing.

Ugh cannot believe they are still in business with all the better places to eat. We ate there twice and only the second time because they gave us a $50 gift card for the disaster the first time. Seco d time was no better . They are off our places to choose from.

There is never any one in there and none of my friends ever go there. That should have been reason enough not to go but I went anyway. The food is sub par at best. We had apps and drinks and left to have dinner elsewhere. The pork buns r more like soft tacos - not the type you get as traditional dim sum. The spring rolls with shrimp had so little shrimp it was mostly a veggie roll. The Mai Tais however r amazing. I won't repeat unless it's for cocktails and edamame at happy hour.

The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was very laid back and had a good vibe. This place is closer to the quieter end of Clematis but once you find it you will want to come back! I haven't been able to go to the happy hour because I am pregnant but I've heard great things about it. Definitely try the duck taquitos! They are delicious!

Hubby & I were celebrating my birthday & Valentine's Day. The food was great, fresh, beautiful & creative plate-ups. A very relaxed & casual environment. Priced just right as we enjoyed 2 thai iced teas 2 appetizers 2 cocktails 2 entrees 1 dessert for under $100. You also get a free cup cake for your b-day!

1st -ducks buns & steamed pork dumplings. Both very fresh in presentation & flavor.
2nd -crispy duck ramen noodles & chicken pad thai. The ramen was excellent. Boneless duck, well cooked baby bok choy & the fried wontons were light & airy. The chicken pad thai had an unusual flavor that we didn't care for.
The desserts were great. The coconut cupcake was good but paled in comparison to the thai tea cheese cake with cookie crust.

Real Gem on Clematis Street. Bet I walked by this place 30 times before I stopped in for dinner. I was so glad I did. Food was amazing. Service was terrific. I made another reservation for the following week just to try more of the great food and drinks. Don't forget to eat the Lava cake and green tea ice cream for desert. Yummy!

Had chicken curry, eggplant with beef, and seafood hot pot, all very good. We like Thai food and this was a good representation.
Portions were large, I took some home and don't usually have that option and it was great the next day.

All in all a good place, want to try it again before I get to excited.

Palm beer was excellent!
