Palm Court Restaurant - Arlington Heights
Palm Court has received rave reviews since the restaurant opened its doors over 40 years ago for its elegant ambiance, friendly service, and relaxed atmosphere.
A highlight of the restaurant is the piano lounge, a comfortable place to unwind, relax, meet up with friends as you listen to the live piano music that swathes the dinner crowd Monday through Saturday.
Chef Michael has been creating alluring dishes for Palm Court since its inception in 1979, and our chef-driven menu includes timeless favorites like Tournedos of Filet Mignon, crisp Long Island Duckling, Veal Oscar and Provimi Calf’s liver. No dinner is complete with Palm Court’s own dessert, Brandy
The Bar offers a wide array of wines, cocktails, specialty Martinis and imported and domestic beers.
Very old crowd. Noisy. Staff is everywhere. To the point of being a distraction. Average age of clientele is nearly dead! Food was good but an old crowd for sure. Not good for kids.
Our server was nice and friendly, just not overly attentive. We had to ask the busboy when we needed things because our server was just not around. The food took entirely too long. We got our soups/salads promptly but then it took another 45 minutes for the meal. However, when the food finally came it was delicious. Maybe it was just an off night.
Would recommend with reservations as we had decent food the service was beyond slow. I know it wasn't the servers fault as it's always starts in the kitchen. The restaurant on Tuesday night, the 15th, wasn't particularly busy, but for reasons unknown, the service was painfully slow. So slow, that the manager took our drink orders after we sat for at least 15 mins w/ no one even pouring water. Then, the server came, he was polite, took our order and then that's when the waiting began. After at least 20 min, both the soup AND salad came at the same time. There was no bus person, so eventually another wait staff came and cleared our plates, and it took another 20 mins or so before our dinner arrived. All good food and hot. Two people ordered the whitefish, one the trout and one the Caesars salad. Would order it again, well made and presented well. Again, it took a while for our plates to be cleared. I think a few more staff would have helped and whatever what was going on in the kitchen managed better would have made the experience that much better. We've been coming to Palm Court for many years and have always enjoyed the food and ambiance.
The food and dining experience is always excellent.
Food was excellent service very good. Disappointed that I did not get points for reservation what is the point of using open table
Great food and service as usual.
Food was fabulous. Breadsticks are back. Shrimp were big tasty cooked perfectly. Fish was seasoned deliciously. Service was orompt friendly. Not one complaint.
Never a disappointment! We always sit in the piano lounge and have dinner and listen to Larry, the house pianist. He plays classic standards and mixes in some Elton John and Beatles. The food is always good and the service is attentive. Love this place.... it is somewhat of a throwback to the 70's and 80's!
The only reason I went was because friends of mine knew the piano player. Not worth the money for the amount of food, plus the vegetables served with the main entree was pathetic. 2, to 4 small pieces. The bus boy served water without ice, water was warm. I again very disappointed. I would be really surprised if the new owners survive.
Both of us had steak kabobs great as usual. Apple crisp dessert was also spectacular in appearance and taste. Piano player made the atmosphere that much more appealing. You will not find finer food in a supper like setting anywhere in the Chicagoland area. Oh yes, and the prices are very responsible.
The oysters Rockefeller were nice and large and delicious as well has the huge jumbo shrimp cocktail. Shrimp had an excellent flavor and nice crisp bite cooked perfectly. The swordfish special and walleye pike were so fresh and prepared perfectly. The Chef really does a nice job with his fish specials.
The food is always good, and the service is usually excellent. Great value for the money. Nice place to go for special events as well!
I’m almost afraid to write a good review, because this place is so good and last Saturday it was packed! The food is great, service is terrific. Really is an enjoyable experience.
Took advantage of the Anniversary specials they have going on right now. Our dinners were delish!
We’ll be back soon.
I have eaten at Palm Court numerous times. The food is always excellent. I will eat here a couple of times before Thanksgiving. I am definitely looking forward to Thanksgiving.
A fine dining experience hard to find in today’s world of big, loud restaurants and rushed service. The wine list is simple but excellent and the menu is both classic and varied. This restaurant provides what a dinner out with others should be like.
The service of Silvi was excellent. Even though the new owners have tweaked the menu, the food is as good as always. And they still pour a good drink!
Our server was excellent, checking in on us frequently. He did a fabulous job deboning my Dover Sole at the table. Said it was his first time! Somehow I don’t believe him. 😅
The owner also stopped by our table to see how everything was. That was a nice touch.
BTW, the food was awesome!!
Very enjoyable evening.
Food and service was good but a little bit over priced for the location and quality. Definitely an older crowd with the average age probably around 50-60.
Great restaurant place to dine. True white tablecloth service with attentive waitress and wonderful food. Will visit much more frequently especially for special occasions. Cocktail service at the bard could be a bit more attentive. Correcting this issue would bring this restaurant to the top restaurant in Arlington Heights.
I have eaten here twice now. The food was excellent and the service was great. I had prime rib both times and it was excellent! I will be back again! I have already booked Thanksgiving Dinner here.
As always food & service was outstanding, had the New York as was cooked perfect.
Ship cocktails where great as was our brownie Sunday.
Ordered 3 Dover Soles cost $44.00 each. They were deboned table side. Our waitress didn’t no how to do it and it took forever. By the time we could eat them they were cold. Vegetables were cold. Not good. Would have been 5 stars other than that.
Always enjoy dining at PC best in the area for low noise and great food
Wonderful dining experience!
We loved every part of it! We’re definitely coming again!
I have read reviews of Palm Court that make particular mention that it is an "older crowd." Well, I guess us older folks know a good deal when we find it. If you want outstanding food in a nice conversation friendly and attractive environment, then this is the place for you.
Oh, and they don't charge extra for a salad or soup. They also prepare very good cocktails at a fair price. My wife and I just went there for our anniversary (yes, many years) and they treated each of us to a slice of cake with whipped cream and a candle!
The food was excellent...lots to choose from, deliciously made, and fairly priced. Our server was not as attentive as I feel she could have been. We were a party of 8 and it seemed to take a while to get our first choice which was a cocktail. One couple was thinking of purchasing a bottle of wine, but because it took so long for our server to come back to check on us, they ended up just ordering cocktails which then took another short wait. Thankfully our food order did come out correct and it was delicious. She just didn't seem to be very happy from the moment that she first approached our table. Yes, the restaurant was VERY busy, but a pleasant server makes all the difference in the world. I would return because the food and ambiance is great but hope we'd get a different server.
Hello Helen, Thank you for your honest feedback. We are glad you enjoyed our entrees but I am very sorry to hear that you had a less than exceptional experience on your service from us. We thrive to deliver nothing less than Excellence in Guest Services at all times. When you have a free moment, I would love the opportunity to speak to you. Kindly call us at 847-870-7770. I would like to take the opportunity to get a few more details and of course make it right for you in a future visit.
Short on wait staff, never got a refill of ice water or timely removal of used dishes and glasses. Beef tended to be cooked more than requested.
A hidden gem for those who remember how dining out used to be. Food is good, the service is even better. Definitely a bit of a blast from the past...it is not a chain restaurant but one that takes you back to when you were younger. The clientele is more of Baby Boomers and Gen X ... a thoroughly enjoyable place for a night out with couples, friends...and family. BTW the bar area looks fun and we will definitely return to check that out as well as another 'Saturday date night' dinner!!!!!
Birthday. Our waiter brought a dessert. Very nice
We have been going to Palm Court for over twenty years. Food is always good and priced right. Most people know the restaurant was sold last year. My recent issue was the service, extremely slow. Took an hour before our order was taken. Had to get Peter, the mailer d to get us a drink from the bar. Not sure if this is the new norm, or just an isolated occurrence.
Also noted the prices of raw oysters has been steadily increasing. Not so long ago, it was $10 for six, then $11 for five, now $18 for six. These used to be a good value, not anymore.
Will go back again to see if poor service was just an isolated issue.
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent ambiance, attentive, hands-on owners....a great place to celebrate a birthday and retirement
Food was delicious!
Delicious food for all choices that were made by each guest.
Another wonderful evening. Great food and perfect atmosphere. A little disappointed with our server Kristyn. She never introduced herself to us or the trainee with her. When the ‘reserved’ table across from us arrived, she was very friendly and introduced herself and the trainee. She was not mean to us, just not as friendly.
The food, service and value were all excellent. The main dining room is very lovely. I ordered the rack of lamb, and it was delicious.
My food come out with bell peppers. They were very helpful and remade it since I’m allergic to them. Bell peppers were not listed in the description. Big portions
Great place, delicious food. Live entertainment, white tablecloths, quite busy for a Tuesday night. The prime rib and filet medallions were very good, as were the salads and the homemade dressings.
Enjoyed the experience. Restaurant has expanded their menu. Food was exceptional.
Always a good experience at Palm Court. Very friendly staff, great food and a fine dining atmosphere without being ostentatious.
