About Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel
The Palm Court Grill continues to serve the highest-quality food at a price that makes fine dining accessible to everyone. Its menu features choice cuts of USDA prime beef and freshly caught fish along with the region's finest wines and select ingredients that sample the bounty of the Northwest. The restaurant's private dining rooms have provided the graceful setting for wedding rehearsal dinners, birthdays, luncheons, and get-togethers for generations of guests. For smaller groups and people watchers, the tables in the historic lobby next to the hearth offer a mix of coziness and palatial grandeur. Meals for every appetite are served throughout the day. The Palm Court Grill also continues to uphold another estimable tradition: the Crab Louis salad, created and made famous nearly a century ago by Chef Edward Mathieu and loaded with tender Dungeness crab, is still served according to the original recipe — with, of course, a dash of contemporary spice.

Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel Ratings and Reviews
We go to the Davenport Hotel for Christmas dinner with the family (party of 8.) This year the food choices that some of the members of our group selected, was only ok. The server seemed to be a little out of his element (maybe new); while he got our order correct, it seemed like the wait times for receiving our drinks (beer, water, pop) was longer than it should have been. Despite the lackluster review, we will definitely make our reservation for next year. The Davenport is a beautiful historic hotel that our family enjoys thoroughly.
We had a late dinner at the Davenport on Christmas Eve. Our waiter (Austin) was a gem. We had a small person (4) with us and our reservation was for 8:00 p.m. Austin was terrific about recognizing that our little one was tired and got her drink and food out quickly avoiding a potential melt down. The food was great, the Christmas ambiance was terrific and the drinks were strong. We will definitely be going back next year.
Have eaten here before and love the ambiance and menu. This was a special night as daughter was dancing in the Nutcracker at the Symphony and her boyfriend and mother flew in from Seattle. Unfortunately this night didn't go so well. The online reservation option was great, we were seated promptly, received drinks fairly quickly and then waited. And waited. About 45 minutes later we got our salads and soups. The entrees 20 minutes after that, some barely warm and had 15 minutes to eat before leaving for the show.
Other then an apology 'it's a busy weekend' no other amends were made.
Scheduled a 1230 reservation for Thanksgiving without seeing posted anywhere that their Thanksgiving didn’t start until 2 so we didn’t get to have Thanksgiving dinner at all this year which was super disappointing. The food was just okay. Overpriced and could have literally has just as good at a chain restaurant. Nothing special. Service was slow. Overall a disappointing experience at what was supposed to be a special occasion first visit to the Davenport.
Christmas Dinner in the Atrium
Although this review is labeled for the Palm Court Grill we actually ate out in the atrium. The atrium uses the same kitchen. The atrium truly is lovely with the storied Davenport atmosphere, large chairs, comfortable seating, and excellent service only adding to the experience. I would have given five stars to the menu, but it was shortened for the Christmas meal and my prime rib sat somewhere on a steam table just a bit too long. My wife and our 100 year old friend had crab salads that both declared excellent.
Since we had no specific plans for Christmas Eve, we opted to make reservations at the Palm Court atrium for an early dinner for my daughter, her two children and me. I had originally made reservations for just two, but when I called, the hostess (her name was Cindy) immediately told me the table would accommodate four and it would be fine. She was very nice and cheerful! We were seated almost immediately and the service was very good. Our dinner was excellent (albeit the prime rib cools off quickly) and we were never made to feel like we had to hurry. Also, we were so grateful for a kid's menu. Not everyone offers those anymore! Overall, we will probably make this a new Christmas tradition. Love the ambiance!
I made reservation 2 weeks in advance. Have always sat in the lobby dining area, assumed that would not be a problem. (1:45pm) I was very disappointed as I was taking our adult children for a Christmas Lunch to enjoy the decorations...and the hostess was very rude when she told me "first come first served" in that area. We ended up in a booth for 6 and I was not happy at all!!
We selected the Palm Court for our 50th Anniversary celebration. We were given a table in a quiet walled off area, almost like a banquet room. Service was good, but probably not up to the level of the prices, which were a bit on the high side. The Davenport Hotel, as expected was beautiful, which really did help make a memorable occasion. We try to dine at the Davenport at least once a year, usually the Sunday Brunch. Its definitely worth going to at least once.
Food was very good, service fine. However, they put us at an awful table, we were adjacent to the side of the bar where they set up a couple server tables to put all the dirty dishes from other diners. Got a good look all night at an number of used entree, shrimp cocktails, dirty napkins, etc,. All night long watched procession of dirty dishes dumped off in front of us. Really disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber.
A wonderful birthday celebration at The Palm Court! The ambience was exquisite, the food server engaging, knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations!
The French dip sandwich and the berry salad was excellent!
The food is always excellent, fresh and hot or cold as expected!
Always come here for special occasions!
My mother, aunts, and grandmother ate at The Palm Court Grill for a special girls day out. We selected the Palm Court Grill for its ambiance (Christmas tree in the Grand Foyer), location (close to River Park Square and the AMC theatre), and overall reputation. I had called ahead of time to make sure we would be able to sit in the Grand Foyer due to its Christmas ambiance/decorations. The hostess at the time of the call confirmed that at the time of our scheduled reservation (11:45AM), we would be able to be seated at that location. However, when we arrived at 11:40AM for our scheduled reservation, we were informed we would not be able to sit at that location. The two hostesses at the front were incredibly rude and unhelpful. They did not greet us with a smile or warm welcoming, rather blankly stated that "this confusion sometimes happens", and that we would not be able to sit in the Grand Foyer. The hostesses did not offer any help to remedy the situation. At that time, I asked to speak with the manager. He was incredibly helpful. He listened to our concerns and frustrations, and offered to remedy the situation by allowing us to sit in the Grand Foyer on a one time basis due to the time. We appreciated his help and understanding; if I had been informed that we would not be able to sit in that location due to our reservation time, I would have understood no problem. The lack of communication and the poor greeting/help on the part of the two hostesses was the main issue. After we were seated, the service was great! Our waiter took great care of us. The food was descent, average for a grill, but nothing too special. Overall an ok day. The manager certainly made up for the situation, but for a reputation as great as the Davenport, I was disappointed.
Our server was very nice and friendly but unavailable...we waited a lot. It was a Saturday night, in December, several big groups in ballrooms, maybe not enough support staff? We had a reservation, but were not seated in a timely fashion. Once seated, we waited for quite some time for a server and then had to ask several times for drinks, bread, and to order. Tables on both sides (same number of guests as us) were served in a much more timely fashion. Ambience was great!
Second time at the Davenport Lobby restaurat - Palm Court - and again, the food was very good. Nothing but good things to say about that. Choices at the table were clam chowder, crab louis, meatloaf plate and french dip. Everyone was happy! Beautiful all the time, but magical at Christmas!
We actually frequent the Davenport. Always a very enjoyable, pleasant experience. Our Family dinner last Wed. was excellent. My neighbor and I (both retired) make The Davenport one of our regular stops for lunch. Always make it a point to bring out of town guests to dine at The Davenport as well.
Beautiful, historic building with many great features. Their were many choices on the menu, mostly $20 and up. Very good hostess staff. We would go back, but the problem is the wait staff. Very slow. I realize it is December, but the restaurant was not that busy and it took a very long time for service.
We were seated earlier than our reservations, that was great. The restaurant itself was good but it was way too loud. We wish it had been a little more private or personal. Hard to manage a quiet conversation. Food was great and our server was very pleasant. Prices were a bit high, but the food was great so it was worth the price. But we think that prices should also consider the ambiance of the restaurant, and with it being so loud it took away from how enjoyable the meal could have been. Overall though it was a great dinner.
We always try to make it to The Davenport during the Christmas Elegance fundraiser. It is extremely crowded but I think that the Palm Court does a good job with all the crowds. The servers were friendly and in good spirits. It is a great place to enjoy the holiday ambiance. On a negative note, the food portions seemed smaller this year and the prices were up. All-in-all, I will go back. Most likely, the establishment knows that people will return on a regular basis as it is so beautiful for the holidays.
The service was excellent. The Restaurant was worth the trip just for the ambiance. A tribute to times long gone. Food was very good and a nice selection from the menu. Quite busy but so goes the Christmas Season. Overall a wonderful choice for a special dining experience.
We placed a reservation and when we went to check in the reception desk took 3 minutes to even acknowledge us, they all looked frazzled and it was somewhat chaotic. Once we were able to get to the table our server was fantastic. There were no children's menus and he was able to rattle off the children's menu for my daughter. Even though it started out as a chaotic event the night ended quite well. The food was absolutely amazing.
