Lovely place to dine. Super seeet waitress Berry salad was delicious.
The Halibut was exceptional. Good cocktails and the Davenport salad is worth the try.
Great old school dining. Food was great. Would love to go again.
Reservations were at 4:30pm and we were seated out front in the center of the hotel seating which is wonderful. We had ordered food and drinks by 4:45pm and overall felt good about the start of our dinner. There were 4 of us, two adults and two kids, and the only damper on the whole evening was that by 6pm we still had not received our dinner, and trust me when I say at that time the place was not hopping. I expect a moderate wait time for dinner, especially at a place like the Palm Court Grill as you want to know that care is taken with your meals. In this case we had ordered a burger, grilled cheese, prawns and a fish/chips. Not exactly meals that take time to prepare. So as you can imagine while we waited over an hour and a half to receive our meals, our drinks bottomed out and sat which was unfortunate, but eating at The Palm Court Grill does afford you the ability to people watch at the Hotel which made the time pass. When our food did arrive, one plate was hot and the rest were barely luke warm...classic example of not coordinating the finish times of the meals correctly in the kitchen. Burger was asked for well done and came medium rare. Other than that, the food still tasted great. You are probably wondering why I still gave 4 starts etc for most categories and that is because we still had a good time and never felt like we wasted our time. But for these prices, they do need to make sure they are on point with food timing, keeping glasses full and makins sure you understand why there is a longer wait then ususal.
So making reservations is always a good idea, you can do that through Open Table very easy. Plan on making an extended time out of your dinner for two reason...one to allow for slower than normal time getting your food, and more importantly number two, so you can then go on a self-guided tour of the The Historic Davenport after your dinner/lunch. Ask the server for a self-guided tour booklet to explain all the history of the place!
The food is always outstanding at the Davenport. The prices have gone up since Covid, but that is to be expected. Not someplace we can afford to eat often, but nice for a special occasion. The service is always impeccable and the ambiance can't be beat.
Our server was top notch and very accommodating. Our meals were perfectly prepared and delicious! It was a family gathering for lunch.
Used to go to the Palm Court to eat regularly before the pandemic. Decided to go back again but were disappointed by the changes. Were there on Friday night but bar area on rear side of hotel closed and only place to enjoy a drink is in noisy Peacock Lounge. They finally agreed to let us take drinks to the open part of the lobby. They have stopped the half price wine happy hour pricing which was also disappointing. We then went for dinner in the lobby Palm Court area. We sat at our table without menus a long time before being acknowledged. We enjoyed the crab pasta but was not offered any pepper or cheese until we flagged someone down to ask for it.
Beautiful setting and fabulous service.
We loved being there— and the food was excellent. But to pay $35 for a salad was exorbitant. I think the price has gone up almost $10 this year. We each had a Crab Louie.
We had a great time at Palm Court Grill when we stayed a night at the Historic Davenport. Our server was attentive, relaxed and professional. I made reservations a week prior to our arrival. My only concerns were that 3 out of 4 of us ordered an entrée with Prime Rib, the server came back and told us they were out of prime rib. Then my mother ordered a Stella beer, which the server came back and said they were also out of. Then we order 2 desserts, the sorbet and crème brulee, but instead of the crème brulee the server brought out cheesecake. He quickly fixed the situation though. I do think for the amount of money we spent on dinner, the Palm Court could have told us right away what they were out of for the night.
Food was good. Service was good. The room was beautiful. A little loud. The paper menu seemed a little less than what type of restaurant that is.
Great service! Loved the crab Louie salad!
Excellent service and food! Can’t beat the location, of course!
Mary was an exceptional server.
Lauren is the most exceptional waitress we have ever had. She was always happy and positive. She knew the history and the preparation of every single dish. She knew the history of the hotel. She was really happy and proud to be working at this restaurant.
This restaurant is a must if you are staying in the area.
Wonderful hotel restaurant. Very classy. Excellent halibut.
Always a wonderful experience!
The trio appetizer with the steak bits, prawns and Cougar Gold cheese was amazing! We appreciated the positive, friendly, helpful vibe of the waitresses who took care of us. Awesome drinks! Great way to celebrate our 40th Anniversary.
Food was fabulous, beautiful restaurant, perfect place for a romantic evening.
Such an elegant place to have a meal with all its history.
Ambience was wonderful and quiet. Meal was a big step down from what I’ve experienced there in the past. The shrimp was very greasy and the rice was cold and flavorless. My husband had the fence dip which was VERY fatty. Our server was great but we won’t be going back anytime soon for that meal and a $16 glass of wine!
Beautiful establishment and great service. Fried halibut was excellent, but needs better fries instead of the string fry version. Also tried the filet mignon and it was outstanding...but $45?
Highly recommend the Palm Court Grill. Lovely ambience, delicious food, and friendly wait staff
The service was impeccable. We also thought the appetizers, desserts and special cocktails were outstanding. Our main courses we would rate as very good.
Staff was terrific! I am on a very restrictive diet and our server asked how she could help me! Amazing :-) I had the King Salmon, perfectly grilled and a double side of Asparagus. Side salad was terrific and they served the dressing on the side. Our server couldn’t find a Perrier so she gave us a soda water with lemon in a special glass to make it feel special. Ambience was terrific, we’ll be back again!
Food was wonderful, very fresh, and our server was outstanding!
Loved the atmosphere, and learning about the history of the hotel.
Meeting friends for great food and quality service♥️
Not ready for top service. Both mains overdone. None of the Golden color in the shrimp coating. Just not the experience we expected
Historic Davenport is a beautiful venue, nicely restored. Lunch in the lobby was excellent. Our two friends from Boston were impressed. Service was perfect and the Crab Louies were delicious. Thanks to your staff for their professionalism.
The food was great, except the halibut was over cooked and a little dry. Everything rise was fabulous. The servers were friendly and accommodating and the room where we ate was beautiful.
Terrible service, dirty floors. Should be better for the price.
The atmosphere and staff was great. We really felt and expected a high quality dining experience for the cost of breakfast items. The food and presentation was lacking for the amount we spent.
Poor service. Server was basically non existent. Food took forever and was mediocre. Expected better
The food was phenomenal and well worth the price.
Went for Breakfast....food was great, hot and well displayed if that matters to you. Service was a bit slow, but then again it was 8:30am on a Sunday morning and my guess is that between local diners and guests checking out for the weekend they are probably always busy at that time. We had to ask for refills on water and coffee several times but again, I chalk that up to being busy. My only critique would be that the hostess and the waitress decided to have a full on argument right next to our table about how many tables she was seating etc etc...found that to be in poor taste as it should have been handled out of earshot of any customers.
The food was good but I was expecting it to be a little better. The Crab Louie wasn't what I remembered it to be years ago. The Cougar Gold cheese dip was very good, but the toasted bread was very plain. The service was very friendly and well done.
We stayed at the Historic Davenport Hotel for 2 nights for our 50th Anniversary.
Had breakfast and dinner at Palm Court Grill and the food was excellent! Very nice servers and helpful. Definitely coming back and a recommendation for other people.
The place for dinner is so unique!
Excellent service and excellent food. Historical setting. Worth driving to.
