Palm Court at the Carltun Ratings and Reviews
My sole constructive comment: due to the manner of the restaurant's acoustical architecture, the noise levels seen to be most always rather high. Having a pianist accompanied by a crooner increases the level of noise by an order of magnitude. The noise levels tend to discouragingly detract from the dining experience and make meaningful conversation at the tables a challenge.
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The restaurant was not busy and it took 25 minutes for the waiter to greet us. The food was okay but entire night ruined as any time we needed our waiter it took way too long as all of them were constantly huddled by the bar.
I pulled up to what's referred to as one of Long Island premiere dining facilities, the Palm Court. I had been looking forward to dining at this restaurant since I read about it in my research. The parking attendant pointed me across the lot, but did not park my car. I parked and got enthralled by the magical look of the place. When I entered the restaurant, one woman sat behind the desk and the other stood up. I gave my name and reservation time; the woman who sat behind the desk gave me an unwelcomed stare, while the more polite young maitre D pointed me to the dining room. I ignored the two uncongracious treatments and enveloped myself in the warm ambiance, live music and courtyard view. My server, Jose over-compensated for the marginal treatment earlier with his warm smile, and attentiveness, I had soon forgotten the ungracious attitude I experienced previously. I listened to Jose as he expertly disclosed the specials of the day. Most items received a pass because I'm a pescatarian. Needless to say, the black Sea bass with mashed potato, scallops, and asparagus was delicious. If you like spicy foods, this is a perfect score. Appetizer was good, crab meat with avocado, cucumber and tomato. It's cold so, if a warm appetizer is your goal try the crab cake or soup. Creme brulee was good, maybe I will have chocolate instead if I go back a second time. I left feeling great after a long day working at home.
Thanks to Jose, and the other servers, the guitarist, and the calming atmosphere, I left feeling quite content despite dining by myself. Overall, it was a satisfactory experience!
Definitely underwhelmed. Hadn't been here in a few years and found it to be much less special than remembered. Waiter was just okay, not what you'd expect from a place that markets itself as elegant. Table we sat at was a small round folding table with legs making it uncomfortable to stretch our own legs.
In all, a little disappointed. Showing signs of age and slippage.
We had 5:15 reservations and requested vegetarian options. When we arrived, we were the only patrons in the restaurant. That remained the case for well over a half hour. Nevertheless, no one came to our table to take a drink order for a half hour. The hostess in the meantime came to our table to tell us that servers did not start til 5pm. (So??). In any event, after we had received menus and identified the vegetarian options, the hostess returned with a photocopy of the menu with the vegetarian options highlighted, assuring us that she was well aware that we are vegetarian. Moments later, he served arrived and proceeded to share the specials, all of which were meat-centered, including a "Hunter's Special" which I interrupted him to ask him to stop. He did so, with no apology or acknowledgement of the situation. Bizarre. The meal was pricy and okay.
The food was excellent and Aaron was our server again and he is Fantastic! This is our "go-to" special place and it never disappoints! We have been coming here for years and we love it! They always make our special occasions more special and our everyday extraordinary !
Enjoyable evening at the Carlton with my husband for Dinner. We have dined here for Dinner, brunch & I have attended events in the Wine Cellar. Saturday night features live music by Johnny Avino & is an added plus to the Dinner. We enjoyed the 3 course Price Fixed Dinner with a nice bottle of Cabernet. Service, Food Preparation & Entrees were Delicious.
Would highly recommend!
Very picturesque. Our server was MR JOSE who was absolutely outstanding along with the rest of the staff. It's wonderful for special occasions. We lucked out on this recent visit since performer GORDON DUKES sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our dearest family friend from out-of-town. Made to order so ask what you want, and they'll make it happen. It's not a place for a quick meal. Enjoy.
Everything about brunch at the Palm Court restaurant is fantastic. The room is beautiful, the service is great and the food, well, the food is just superb. Chef Rodrigo is a master at his craft, and that doesn't stop at his food!
I recommend the Palm Court for brunch especially to anyone who would ask.
Sub par. Have been dining here for many, many years. This I think was the last time. Out prior visit left everyone wondering if it was just an off day. Saturday's experience was again disappointing. 30 minutes for drinks and almost 40 minutes for appetizers. Repeated requests for a set of silverware went unmet.
Food was very good but service was lacking at best.
We have been here many times before. Last night I had my family for dinner come to enjoy the special occasion of a birthday. The food was good as always but I found the service in general poor. Always looking around for our waiter. Hard to find at times. Not pouring the wine on table . I am surprised that the service which is always good was noticeably poor. Otherwise the meal was great. I wish the experience could have been better though.
I will never ever go on a Thursday night terrible service in the Palm Court I assume because they over extended themselves with their $10 admission with 1 free drink Disco Night......too many people on Geritol..give me a break never again
My family and I came here before four our daughters birthday last year and loved it. The atmosphere and service is absolutely wonderful. The chef came out to greet us and ask if we wanted him to make us anything special. This weekend we enjoyed a Father's Day dinner and had a even better time. The live band and attention received is amazing .
We went for Kalis birthday wow. This was a great venue for a birthday .
It was surf and turf night ! We enjoyed the food the atmosphere and the waiter was terrific Diego. The cake was personal the singer was a frank Sinatra type sang happy birthday...
What a hoot! Love love love it
Very disappointed with the declining quality of the food and experience at Palm Court. Not enough of the excellent wait staff to handle customers.. cold bread, melted butter, fatty steak... all in, after considering Palm Court at Carltun as our "go to" place for special occasions for the past 20 plus years ( this was our anniversary), we won't be returning again... I did feel sorry for the servers who did their very best with what management apparently has created for them..
I very rarely leave a bad review... would rather say nothing sometimes, but honestly, this is not an inexpensive place to eat... We brought the steak home for our dog and there was about a 2 inch strip of pure fat in the middle.. It ended up in the garbage.. Sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant anymore.. I had often suggested it to friends in the past.... There is work to be done here.
This restaurant is very romantic and beautiful Friday's they have great music

Ahhh The Carltun!!! I had the pleasure of celebrating a big birthday at the Carltun for Brunch on Sunday. It was fantastic - from the food to the service. Our server Aaron was fantastic and so attentive. It was great and something I will remember for a very long time. Brunch is a four-course meal for $45 including a bloody mary or mimosa - can't beat the price with the quality of food and service. I highly recommend brunch at the Carltun!!
I have dined here too many times to remember. 5 years ago it was great, but over the years has steadily gone down hill. Saturday evening was the "cherry on the cake". Decided to dine here to celebrate my sons college graduation. From the moment we sat down until the moment we left it was horrible! They completely forgot about us we waited over two hours for our entrees. The wait staff not once asked us if we need a drink, refill our water glasses, no one returned to the table for 2 hours. Eventually we hailed over a passing waiter ( ours was MIA) he returned with our waiter and he apologized for "forgetting about us". Today I will be personally calling and requesting a refund and going to my bank to stop the cc payment. They should have insisted that we not pay. The food when it came it was cold. Horrible, horrible meal! Very unhappy we will NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT. Terrible experience especially for a celebration.
Received a gift certificate to this place from a couple who regularly attend. On this night, our first time there, the service from the kitchen was horrible. Not only did a neighboring table send their lamb chop back for being undercooked.. we had same issue with one of our steaks.
We ordered a rib eye . For starters I have had many rib eye steaks in my day. This steak came out very undercooked and looked more like a stop and shop T bone. The steak was sent back and was still undercooked when it came back. By this time my date was waiting for me to eat and their food got cold. While the waiter took the meals off of the bill we were disgusted by the fact that the manager didn't even come over to apologize as he had done to the neighboring table. I suspect it was because my table was two women rather than the husband and wife on the latter.
I am highly disappointed and a little annoyed that the apology included the reason that they are "so busy". This is a high end realtor hat shouldn't have this problem. Not only was the cooking of the food an issue, so was the level/grade of my steak.
Skeptical to go Back.
