Palisade Ratings and Reviews
Most disappointing visit to this restaurant to date. We started with the crab and lobster bisque which had a nice flavor but the only chunks were croutons, no seafood. I had the small portion prime rib, my husband had the surf and turf. Both meat orders were cooked as ordered but sub-standard quality cuts. Very chewy and not much flavor. This has always been a go-to treat here but not this time. The salmon was ordered rare but came well done. One butterflied prawn. We went for the Crème brûlée trio. Chocolate, vanilla, and butterscotch - flavor distinction of the latter two was almost undetectable and obviously just pulled from the fridge. Nice carmelized top but cold interior.
Lastly, this was one of my top restaurants to take corporate guests to because of the food, service, and views and the points I gain I use to treat my husband to make up for those evenings I’m gone. Apparently at Palisades if you don’t use them in 6 months and don’t turn them into “dining dollars” they go away. I apparently didn’t get that memo or read that fine print and although I should have had hundreds and hundreds (or more) points, this disappointing dinner came out of our wallets. Thank goodness Aqua/El Gaucho’s, Rays, etc. doesn’t have this policy. Although the service couldn’t have been better, given all the fabulous restaurants in Seattle doubt I’ll/we’ll be back. Much to our chagrin. That being said, recent brunch events (2) were as good as expected.
View was an A+ and a couple of the food items were good, but unfortunately most food items ordered by those in our group of 5 people were stuck in a 1980s time wrap. We really wanted to like this close-by long-time restaurant with its really lovely views and super easy parking, but were pretty disappointed to spend $400 to find out it's not worth it!
We may have eaten at Elliot's a millions times, enjoyed its not-as-good water views, and wrestled with their parking but at least it's almost always high quality in food and service. Next time we want top quality seafood with a WATER VIEW we'll go back to Elliot's (or to Waterfront Restaurant, Ray's or Anthony's).
This dinner was a special occasion for 2 of our group celebrating birthdays. This was mentioned during the confirmation call received the day prior and the waiter asked "who is celebrating a birthday"......but no other recognition made. I guess we were assuming at least a candle, small cake, or something to recognize this event? Other than that, dinner was great and service very good.
Our table was ready, prepared with rose petals, a celebratory greeting card, and overlooked the marina with a spectacular view of the Seattle night skyline. A perfect setting for a superb dining experience (salmon and scallops) as we celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary. Service was delightful - attentive, but not obtrusive. We had a wonderful -- 2 hour dinner! See you next year! MFM
This was ourI second time at Palisades we ordered the surf and turf both times last time it was great this time not so great my steak was overcooked ,not worm, and everything was salty. However we got there early for reservations and set at the bar had great drinks and overall enjoy the ambience of the evening.
I moved out of the area and haven't been to the Palisade for ages. I read recent reviews and found some uneven areas of performance that I certainly didn't remember. Nonetheless, I went ahead and booked a dinner to celebrate my new daughter-in-law's 25th birthday. She isn't from Seattle and I have been introducing her to some of my favorite spots and activities. The Palisades did not disappoint us last night. From the efficient driver picking us up at the Pan Pacific right on time, to the lovely views, to the prompt but not obtrusive actions of our servers, everything combined to make it a special memory for us. My young adults loved the piano set on high and the meandering stream--it was a place to relax and enjoy. My son had the American wagyu beef and she had the red snapper special and both seemed pleased. I had the crab-stuffed prawns and while they were okay, they were a bit bland. I won't rate this restaurant as my favorite seafood place but I would continue to considerate a good place to take people. Ambience does really matter to the dining experience. It can't carry it all--so service and quality dishes contribute too--but this place has ambience in spades. Thank you!
Had dinner here while in town for a conference. Wanted a nice meal away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Restaurant was perfect. They accommodated our larger party with no problem and even called two days prior to confirm the reservation. Food excellent, service impeccable and the view of downtown Seattle skyline perfect. Will definitely return here again when back in Washington.
I've been to Palisades numerous times over the years. Friday's dinner was a letdown. Had the Alaskan halibut. It was underdone. My friends wife also had the halibut and she said it tasted salty. So we were disappointed.
The brûlée banana desert with ice cream was, however, out of this world. Our service was great and the ambience and views are top notch.
Went for special occasion- we asked the water guy how his night was. As sarcastic as possible, he said "living the dream" and walked away. We are visitors and wanted to see the waterfront for my b-day. We were seated clear in the back tables, where it was obvious that all the b-days were seated in a row- couldn't see anything and the waiter was harried. Had to ask for drinks, told him we didn't want to order immediately, but he was pressuring us to order. We paid over $300. for 2 of us- your wines are good, but extremely overpriced. Specifically asked what the vegtables were- something different was brought out. When I asked where the vegs. were that he told us, "they must have changed since the last time I worked." for that much $$, you expect a bit higher level wait staff, food, and ambience. Also, would highly recommend you have some kind of dress code- we were seated behind a table of hoodlums
Unfortunately we were a little underwhelmed during this visit. Service was okay. Had to ask for refills on my Iced tea and expected server not to cross in front of my son to serve me. Food wasn't as good as has been in past. It was fine but not the fine dining experience we've been used to in the past.
This restaurant is all about the view of Seattle from the Elliot Bay Marina, which is spectacular. The food is average and pricey for that level of quality. The service is excellent, and has the promise of being even better if you were a regular. Unfortunately, the flavors and preparation of the food are not enough to get me to return. I would make a limited recommendation: if you have out-of-town guests and want to wow them with a view, this is one of those venues in Seattle.
The staff was very accommodating, from the moment I made the reservation for this special occasion. From making sure that the table had a great view and was easily accessible for 90 year olds, to rose petals on the table at the beginning and candles on the dessert at the end, my mother felt celebrated. The service was perfectly timed and charming but unintrusive, and the food was excellent. Palisade is a perennial favorite for special days, as well as more common ones. Thank you!
The view is breathtaking but the food and service not so much. I hadn't been here in about 10 years and it seems I haven't missed out on anything. The prawns were extremely overcooked, the hostess couldn't bother looking up when checking us in, we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation and there were only perhaps five other tables seated, and the server, while nice enough, didn't seem very informed about the menu. All in all, I probably won't go back for another 10 years. If it's seafood you're looking for there are many other amazing options in Seattle.
Palisade has always been a favorite of mine, not only because of the beautiful view (see photo) but because of the great food and superb service. I believe our server yesterday was Zack: he was excellent, attentive and helpful. And when we asked him to take our photo at the end of lunch, he suggested going outside on the sunlit deck, which was of course the best place to go! So kudos to Zack.
