It was our first time and won’t be our last! Our family loved it.
The grilled seafood and red sangria were terrific, in addition to sitting outside.
I went to Palio with my daughter on Mother’s Day. Our waiter was excellent. (I think he was the best waiter at Palio as far as I can remember). But for some reasons the food was not as tasty as before. Maybe different chefs were working on Mother’s Day?
One of my go-to restaurants in Ann Arbor. Fresh pasta made in-house.
Food quality mixed. Some great and others notably lacking. Several items arrived late and dishes no longer hot when served. Drinks arrived late. Not offered a second round on beverages nor were water glasses refilled until after the meal. Overall disappointment and not worth the price by far.
Dinner was delicious and service was fine.
We did come back later though for dessert and drinks and the bar service was terrible. We had to wait way too long for simple cocktails and wine.
Our dining area was a little tight when it filled up. The asiago appetizer was dry & hard. Otherwise, everyone at our table enjoyed their meal.
If your looking for good italian this is the place. You can't go wrong with and entree.
We originally made a reservation for 4; however at the last moment added a fifth person. The restaurant was very busy with Prom Night guest. The staff did an excellent job of taking care of us with the addition of another person to our reservation. As always the food and service were outstanding. We love Palio!
the food was very good but the service was slow. wait staff was being trained.
seems they could figure out a better way to train
Our new favorite Italian restaurant in Ann Arbor!!
I was disappointed. The food was not nearly as good as I remember. Our server was great (high point), but overall a disappointing experience.
Had a nice birthday dinner for my daughter. Four of us had dinner consisting of Rigatoni, pizza, and two children’s pasta dishes. We had the chocolate flourless cake for desert.. nice service to go with the nice atmosphere. Overall very pleased
The Terra d’Oro dinner was delightful and exceeding the previous standards we have experienced at Palio! Thank you, Jeff Myers and all the Palio crew!
not as good as the last few times. bread was COLD. Food average
Our food was excellent - all the items we ordered were well prepared and presented well. However the service was slow and unattentive. We were a party of 4 and had to move the table for the opposite pair to get in.
Took my daughter and the family here to celebrate her Master’s Degree. Food was great, wine list was ok. I think the management over loaded the wait staff. They were very good, but had entirely too many table to tend to. I would definitely go back.
I was very disappointed with this restaurant. Good downtown location, lots of parking next door and the restaurant smelled great when we entered, but it went downhill from there. The server was very nice, but not very attentive and the food took a long time to arrive. My lasagna was disappointing (and cold) and my wife was so disappointed with her chicken pesto pasta dish that she sent it back after the first taste (and she has never ever sent food back to the kitchen). Even my grandson's salmon Caesar salad was disappointing.
We were a party of five, and our collective rating for this restaurant was 2 out of 10. We were all very, very disappointed. :-(
Service was extremely slow. But the food was fantastic.
We went to early dinner on a Sunday. It was not crowded and we were seated in the main dining room with is very warm and cozy. The wait staff was attentive. Then the food arrived. My husband's egg plant parmesan was lukewarm at best. This is my #1 aggravation with a restaurant because it should just be RULE #1 for waitstaff - is the food hot? How hard is that? If is isn't, leave it there, don't make me send it back. Deliver the rest of the food and just tell me the reason you left it behind. I will be grateful. The kitchen, waiters and management are all complicit in this problem, and I give the major blame to management.
My penne, on the other hand, was significantly underdone...hard and chewy. My friend's fettucine, same thing. Wake up Palio. You are usually a certain A+ experience but you dropped the ball on Sunday.
My wife and I ate here regularly while we lived in Ann Arbor, while visiting this past weekend we looked forward to eating at Palio. My wife said she had read some poor reviews that were recent on OpenTable and it made us nervous that the service had gone downhill. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was just as great (if not better) than we had remembered it, the wine service was fantastic, and the service was great. Even with our 3 children 5 and under in tow. I HIGHLY recommend Palio if you are in Ann Arbor. The food is authentic and delicious, and the service is unbelievably fantastic.
Overall great as usual - only issue is we were squeezed into the back room - I felt bad for the staff as they didn't even have enough room to get between tables.
Outstanding food for the money. Excellent service and the chef accommodated my wife's requirement for a low sodium meal.
Very very very disappointed with my dining experience at Palio. Our dining experience lasted 2 hours and we ordered all of our food within the first 20 minutes of sitting down. Our appetizer (cheese) and salads took approximately 45 minutes to arrive at our table. After finishing these our entrees took about another 20 minutes to come out. We only received 1 apology for the wait from the host and were not compensated in any manner for our extended wait in an almost empty restaurant. There were periods of time where we wouldn’t see our waitress for 20+ minutes and a refill on soda would take over 10 minutes. I typically am very patient and understanding when things take a little bit longer but this dining experience was outrageous. Will likely not be coming back to this establishment anytime soon.
First time there and the scampi was amazing...definitely will go back.
Waited an hour and a half for our dinners. Was told the kitchen was backed up. Our waitress was good but she was extremely busy with numerous tables. Not her fault!
In a town with a new restaurant every week, Palio has stood the test of time. Still busy, but we were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation. Food was excellent, if not particularly innovative. Nice wine selection. Reasonable prices. We've never been disappointed in any Main Street Ventures restaurant.
We showed up a few minutes after they opened. There were two other small tables that were say before us. We were there for a solid two hours, not by choice, but because the service was painstakingly slow. Our waitress was watching a game on the TV but I felt like the real issue was in the kitchen. Even though the good was pretty good, we won't be returning.
Prosciutto e formaggio de pollo farcito was extremely dry! We couldn't even finish half of it. Both that dish and the pizza vegetale came with artichoke heart quarters that were clearly just fished from a can, since they were overpoweringly briney. Our waitress was also the bartender for the night, but it was obvious she did not know her way around a bar. The only saving grace was the asiago al forno appetizer, which was very oily but otherwise hard to get melted cheese wrong.
Palio has been a favorite for years. Recent recipe and menu changes have taken a toll, however. Still love the service, the atmosphere, the staff, but where we used to say that Palio was the closest local restaurant to eating in Italy, the menu changes have changed that. Most dishes had far more oil than before, one was salty to the point of distraction, and the signature Tiramisu has been reduced to essentially flavored whip cream. Not bad compared to Olive Garden, but a far cry from its former glory. Management took a meal off the bill and otherwise made what accommodations they good (extremely generous in that regard), so no complaints in that regard.
Management and waiters remain attentive and a shining point, but we'll wait until we hear that the recent menu changes have been reversed before we go back.
Our waiter was fantastic and very accommodating. The food was delicious with a great portion size. Wine was reasonably priced. We loved everything.
Great. Loved it
Great food. Nice size portions. Some trouble with service. It was slow to start. Hard to get water refilled.
Pizza oven was broken - a bad start. Bread was very tough, soup was cold and my seafood dish had no flavor. Service was fine but we asked for a doggie bag for leftover bruschetta and it was packed upside down. Maybe it was just a bad night; don’t think I’ll try it again.
Birthday celebration. Lots of fun. Great experience
My wife and I visited Palio for a special occasion as we have a number of times. We were greeted and our anniversary was noted several times by the staff. We were given a choice of seating locations and my wife got to pick her spot. The food was excellent and they had one of my favorite beers (Moretti) even though it wasn't listed on the menu. It is our go to place for special occasions and regular days too!
My boyfriend and I fell in love with Palios after our one year anniversary celebration was there. Our waiters have been amazing both times and even while trying to upsale never over do it. The Bolognese sauce is incredible and goes great with spaghetti and capellini noodles. The Alfredo sauce is amazing and makes a great chicken Alfredo. 10/10 would recommend and will go back. It's always quite and has an amazing ambiance!
Food served very slowly. We have to wait for 90 minutes until our first soup coming. A salad is missing before the main dish finally arrived after we were being in the restaurants for 2 hours. Kids are starving. Food is okay. But not worth the value of the waiting.
Great experience, great food. Will come again.
