Palio is our go to place for birthday dinners and restaurant week. Their menu is outstanding and food is always delicious. Yesterday we celebrated my son’s 30th birthday and Palio again did not disappoint. Our server was perfection. I wish I could remember his name 🤔
This was the best Italian restaurant I have been to!
The server was not very versed about the menu and the noise level was an issue. We asked to move away from the large party in the back room. It was very loud and they accommodated us quickly.
Passed it a couple of other times but this time decided to go in. My wife and I both had pasta dishes and enjoyed both. The service was excellent and the price was reasonable. We will go back.
Just a regular meal. Bland, blah. Ordered bruschetta, no flavor. Ordered house salad, bland again, including the cheese. No zing from the Gorgonzola. Salmon dish was ok. Husband’s pasta was too al dente.
Minor but important... when taking orders from men and women, women always order first. Server did not do that even after we asked her to.
We had a great meal here with another couple. I honestly wasn’t expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. Our waitress Danielle was awesome and really seemed to know the menu. She was able to recommend some delicious cocktails and wine pairings for our meals . Extremely attentive service . We were seated downstairs as the rooftop patio is closed in February. My only complaint is that it’s a bit loud in the better of the restaurant and difficult to hear across the table. For a group date night out this wasn’t a huge problem, but if you’re looking for something more intimate, I’d say either request a corner table or look elsewhere. We’ll be returning for sure!
This is one of the best Italian restaurants we've been to a long time. The food is exceptional. Love the menu variety and the great service. My only complaint is they were out of Perone draft that night. We plan to return to Palio very soon. Make reservations, they are busy.
Great time and excellent food with great ambiance for a celebration.
Awesome date night. Pat Gavitt was the sexiest waiter I’ve ever seen. Great food comes with great looks.
Delicious. Slightly pricey and noisy. It is kuch better than the other restaurants on Main Street.
We enjoyed the Valentines Day specials. The food and service were superb. We also like Palios because they are open late and we can enjoy a nice dinner after the game or a concert.
Amazing experience. Food was wonderful, the server was kind and smart (even taught us a little pronunciation). Would reccomend to anyone craving authentic Italian.
DISAPPOINTED W/THE SEATING. ALL THE WAY IN THE BACK NEXT TO KITCHEN AREA. VERY. VERY LOUD. ASKED TO BE SEATED AWAY FROM, WHEN RESERVATIONS WERE MADE A MONTH EARLIER. THE 2 TOP WAS CRAMPED.
Not authentic Italian food like in Italy. Small pasta portions for the price. Amazing service.
Very good food I come here to eat
Bring back calamari!
First visit on a recommendation and I could not have been happier. The service was top notch and very informative. I will be back and highly recommend t for authentic Italian.
Very nice evening. My only complaint was ordering lasagna. I found out at ordering that lasagna was vegetarian. As I was changing my order, server offer a meat sauce over it. Bad choice. They fry hamburger and put a layer of it on and cover with vegetarian sauce. Meat was not seasoned or flavors blended. Not good.
Food is good. Service was good but not great.
Jon was a great server. He was able to accommodate an order change, which made up for the wine being late to the table. Great food and not overly expensive for the quality and location.
Pat, our waiter was great. Reasonable prices, good food, and quiet. Palio's is becoming our "go-to" special place.
Amazing as always :) food is always great:) enjoy the atmosphere
Every time I go here it somehow is worse. The first time I was blown away by the food and service. The second time was good but the food wasn’t anything exceptional. The last time was awful. The waitress stared at me and my date from three feet away for the entire meal. Our table was also half into the kitchen so we had a hard time talking over the noise. We went for restaurant week and were only there a half hour after opening for dinner and the food was luke warm at best when we got it. The whole dinner, from the moment we sat down untill we left, only took 40 minutes so it felt incredibly rushed. I don’t think I will be going back for a while.
We visited Palio during restaurant week so the value was very good.
The restaurant was packed, the food was good, but it's just not our "style".
My husband and I both ordered the stuffed chicken. It was very good, but the accompanying potatoes and veggies -- mostly yellow and red peppers had too much of an oily coating. The same was true for the side of spinach we selected. It wasn't a strong buttery flavor, so I'm not sure what the component was.
However, when a restaurant offers wine by the bottle, the servers need to be trained on opening the bottle properly. It isn't hard, requires a training session or two and a good corkscrew.
We had a LOVELY young lady as our server, but with the wine bottle sitting on the table it
literally took her a minute or more just to get the foil off the top. I gently offered
to help, which she thanked me for but declined. While I appreciated her willingness to keep
trying, for guests who are accustomed to opening wine it becomes very uncomfortable to sit and watch this!
After another two minutes or so to get the cork out, we had our first pour.
Sadly, Palio chooses to use cylindrical juice-glass type glasses for their wine. I really don't care for that...unless perhaps I'm in a quick pizza place ordering wine by the glass.
The staff is friendly, the place was packed and there was a line at the door (fortunately we had early reservations.) The folks waiting all seemed to be in the under-30 crowd, tho I did notice some folks seated who were older.
May not be a top choice for me, but it is definitely a well-loved Ann Arbor institution.
We went for restaurant week and had a very nice meal. It was a great value but they seemed to need to turn tables over. It was rushed and we had a three course meal with a cocktail and wine in under 45 minutes.
The food was very good and the place was fairly quiet. It is someplace we go to rarely and will continue to be
Great ambiance, excellent food and service. Highly recommended restaurant.
Very good service and a wide selection for a "restaurant week" menu. The food was very tasty and well presented. We have enjoyed our experiences at Paleo's over the many years we have lived in Ann Arbor.
Restaurant Week. Food was just not very good. Two entrees heavy with oil, soup one thin and one thick, no sides but it was a bargain dinner experience. Generally it all felt heavy. Sorry.
Food was outstanding! We ordered from the restaurant week menu. Server was attentive and friendly.
Kitchen (dish room?) noise was disconcertingly loud where we were in the back seating area. Also the music was not very “background” and hard to talk over or hear the other person’s words. Happily, when we asked to have the volume turned down, they did so immediately :)
Best Restaurant Week deal going. Food was delicious and very well priced for a “dinner for two”.
Excellent authentic Italian food. We tried several different main dishes as well as an appetizer.
Bread from Zingermann's. Dishes were excellent and service was great! We will definitely return.
Our server was awesome! Friendly and funny. Always made sure we were doing ok and great on water/drink refills.
All of us ordered different dishes and all of them were good. Next time I am in Ann Arbor, I’ll eat there!
Fantastic service and cuisine. Our entrees were perfect, our waiter was friendly and personable. We can't say enough about how much we love this restaurant.
New Year’s Eve was great here. Waiter was able to be attentive even though it was busy. The pasta dishes were excellent.
The food came out so quick, the staff was professional and accommodating. Plus you cant beat the cute atmosphere! Love it and their sangria :D
I’ve been to Palio several times, and have always had a good experience. I was not happy with the service tonight. I don’t know if the server was new or had too many tables. The food was good as always.
good service and nice hot food. No waiting to be seated!
Delicious reasonably priced Italian food. Great service. Highly recommend.
Pasta dishes are fantastic, and the desserts are very good. I had the amaretto chocolate mousse and it was wonderful. Only issue we had was the table was obviously a square one that had leaves to lift up to make it round, but the leaves were unstable and the plates were teetering on an incline down into several guests laps. No disasters but it was uncomfortable. Overall, this is one of our favorite spots for the kids' birthdays and we had a great meal.
