Palermo's 95th Fine Italian Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
The food, service and the entire dining experience was great. However, I thought I had registered successfully to use my OpenTable gift, but was unable to redeem it. I had
activated the acknowledgement code from the gift that was given to me, but obviously,
I had missed a step that would have led to the redemption process. I paid with my own credit card and will have work on mastering the complexities of gift card redemption via OpenTable.
Palermo’s is one of our favorites!! Absolutely delicious Italian cuisine. Pizza is the best on the Southside of Chicago (my husband could live on this pizza for the rest of his life!!). Our waitress, Trish, was awesome. She made sure we were satisfied at all times. She was on top of drink refills without even asking. We love Palermo’s!!
Palermo's is an institution and a south side gem. Of course, the main reason is the food. You cannot go wrong with almost anything you order. However, the real reason is the service - even when your server looks too young to even be working, he or she turns out to be fantastic at the job, and each does it with their own personality. They make special occasions truly special.
We ordered 2 appetizers and the were very good. My son and I ordered pizza that was also good. My wife and daughter ordered chicken vesuvio and another chicken dish. My wife's chicken was cooked to long and her potatoes weren't cooked enough.
We brought this up to the waitress and she said "yes those potatoes are hard" but didn't do anything to help us out.
My wife was not very Happy with her experience at your restaurant
When we lived closer, we ate here pretty regularly and always were pleased. Great pizza, tasty Italian specialties and great service. We had a chance to return recently and found that it was exactly the same and just as popular- be prepared for a wait without reservartions. A reliable local restaurant.
Server forgot to bring us our salads - had to request it be taken off the bill. Bus boy decided to reach across the table to clear the table and thusly spilled water and soft drinks on my mother - she was soaking wet. Food was lukewarm. It appears Palermos is resting on its reputation from bygone years.
Great choice for an Authentic Chicago-style Italian meal. Close to Midway Airport! Great meal after landing at airport on our way to points south. Can't wait to go back. The stuffed banana peppers were the BOMB! Also ordered a regular crust specialty pizza with extra sauce.
Normally I enjoy this restaurant but this time was really not good. I recommended it for a family and friend gathering of 7 (the table was too small, no space to eat, the service was not good, a few of the dishes were awful). The trade-off for two meals being inadequately prepared was to remove one drink from the check, and it wasn't even the drink of a customer with the inadequate meal. I was disappointed and embarrassed. I will not go to this establishment again.
We had pizza today. Palermos sweet sauce is really unique and just pairs perfectly with their regular-pastry-type crust, cheese and sausage. We special ordered extra sauce and light sausage and it was perfect! The service was excellent and the hostess even asked if I'd like to be in the bar area, but at a low, comfy table to watch football on TV. Thank you!! The bread is always warm, crusty and flavorful. We drive over 60 miles to get to Palermo's, and all the friends we introduce to the place wind up addicted to the place as well!
Our group of seven ladies was seated close to the kitchen where the servers were going in and out of, sometimes accidentally bumping into the ladies chairs who were seated on that side of the table. Our server was busy, but should have made an effort to visit us more often to check on the food and our beverages. Parking is horrible, two of the ladies used the valet which they appreciated. We will return but will never sit in the same area again.
I arrived at 10 to 6 seated in a couple of minutes. It took 25 minutes to get a cup of soup another 25 minutes for the pizza to come and another 25 minutes to get our entree..we order everything at one time. Bad service and on top of that we asked to talk a manager and he never came to our table I seen him look but nothing.. there a very busy restaurant but not that night ..
