It was okay, I liked that they have small individual pizzas. I got the pasta which was good, I added chicken to mine, which was very tasty, but the additional chicken was more than the actual plate of pasta. The pasta was $7, and to ADD chicken it was $8. The menu should have been more clear about how much the chicken is additional to the pasta.
Overall it was decent, wouldn't say that I am dying to come back.
Love this place for lunch! The spicy turkey sausage pizza is the best and the pasta, spinach and egg soup is always a favorite! The one thing I always shy away from is seating up front because at lunch during the day there are always groups of toddlers running around and being very noisy (as toddlers are) so it's not somewhere to have a quiet lunch that's for sure ;) BUT the food is worth it! Just sit in the back if you see small children running all over. Great staff too!
Do not go here.
I booked the reservation for a birthday party, and things were problematic from the moment we walked in. We arrived and were given a different table than we requested in the reservation.
One member of our party is a server at Pizza House so virtually every member of the staff stopped by our table throughout the evening; however, no buss staff ever took plates, cups, carafes, bottle, or cans once they were used up. We were repeatedly brought different orders for different tables than what we ordered, which were eventually sent to the tables who ordered them. The fruit in the various sangrias ordered was seedy, tiny, and looked too old to be served. Before ordering anything I took our actual server aside (not the one in our party) and told her that there would be three separate checks. Needless to say when the bill came everything was together.
Being that this was a birthday celebration I didn't want anyone fussing nor stressing over money so I bit the bullet on a $78.00 bill for a 10" pizza (that we ordered without ricotta cheese but still came with it all over each slice), three weak sangrias, a beer (impossible to mess up thank goodness), some meatballs (that were bland and crunchy), and a burnt steak sandwich when all I had was a beer and a few slices of pizza. The member of our party who is also a server asked me if the bill was 50% off regular pricing (supposedly an employee perk?) but it was not. Everyone at the table except me only had credit/debit cards, and when I privately asked our actual server if it would be a problem to split the bill as originally requested she appeared confused, befuddled, and responded by saying, "It's kind of hard to do the math on that." I just wanted to get out of there so I paid in full, left a $20.00 tip, and we fled.
I cannot recommend anyone go to this establishment due to their weak, overpriced drinks; horribly prepared food all around; and some of the worst customer service that I have ever received.
Adorable little neighborhood place, tucked in among old buildings on Cortland. In our party, we all had something different and it was all delicious. I had a plain cheese pizza. It was wonderful and the crust was nice and crispy. Our server was really good. Efficient and friendly. I would go back.
It was valentine's day and freezing cold outside. It was also freezing cold inside. They don't have one of those outside winter doors to help cold air from getting in. We were in the direct path. Brrrr. We ordered a salad each, a large pizza, garlic bread and a bottle of pinot noir. The bottle was also freezing cold. Nothing like ice cold red wine to warm you up. That was a big bummer for me. I'm not sure if it was in a cold storage room or they incorrectly had it in the fridge. It never warmed up the entire time we were there. About 2 hrs The salads were just ok. Nice size for the price. Actually everything was priced well. We ordered the vegetarian pizza. It came w spinach. I love spinach on pizza but it was really mounded on, a bit too much. It was inches deep in some parts But not a big deal. Our waiter was attentive even though he was quite busy. I also ordered rice pudding at the end and that was delicious. We came home w a quarter of the pizza and half my dessert, and my husband and I are both healthy eaters. I think the bill was 67 before tip. I would go again. But I was expecting more that wood fired pizza experience with dim lighting and at least room temp wine. The place was bright and loud. We were right by the pizza ovens which again, was not like a wood fired, romantic pizza place. Just an upscale pizzeria. My fault for not doing better research. But the pizza is good. I would go with friends for a casual night. It's not a date night place.
I like deep dish, he likes thin crust. We tried the "double dough" option at Pizza House 1647 and came up with something we both loved. The crust is awesome as were the toppings. Service was attentive and friendly and the restaurant is very neat and clean. The Tuscan Farro Salad was delicious. We'll definitely keep this spot on our list for a casual dinner.
Love this place. Very friendly service and consistently good food. Pizza is great but there also are plenty of other choices. Farro Arugula salad is my staple order as is the arancini. Definitely try the homemade italian donuts...AMAZING! It beats all the fancy donut shops out there. They started doing brunch and it is also wonderful. Causal neighborhood spot with a laid back atmosphere. Great place to go with the kids, your parents or an impromtu date night where you can just walk in without reservations.
In a neighborhood with lots of great pizza options, it took us a while to finally check out 1647. Very glad that we did. Wonderful crust, served piping hot from the oven. No skimping on the toppings either. Each of the great Wicker Park/Bucktown pizzas is unique. 1647 deserves to be one of your go-to spots as well.
