Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar
A table of six of us had a reservation at 6:15. We didn’t get greeted until 6:30. Our food took 45 minutes after our guacamole was cleared, and the guacamole was $20 for three 1/3 cup servings. Our server didn’t ask us if we wanted more drinks, which was probably good in the end because we were all afraid to order more and wait 15 more minutes. Overall, it was chaotic and not special at all.
We love the rum-glazed Cuban pork. Would be even better if it was warmer when served. Great Margaritas!
Maybe a new chef? I know restaurant is newly decorated, food was sub par, restaurant was super loud, had a hard time hearing person across from me. Braised beef tacos were tough, steak was hard to cut and guacamole tasted like mashed avocado...no flavor. The only thing good was our server, she was pleasant. I’ll try again, but guarding my expectations.
Felt very rushed as appetizer plate was removed before we were done with it, asked about desert before my wife was even finished with her meal. Food was expensive for rice and beans, very little pork and it was crispy . Not the same as it has been in the past.
Food and drink we’re great, however the service dropped off quickly, Waiter was nowhere to be found, and we don’t ask much.Other friends have had the same experience, they need to improve their service level To be commence are it with the quality of the food and drink.
I used to love this place but it’s gone down hill. There was glass on the floor by our table when we arrived. One member of our party was given the wrong entree and then charged for the wrong, more expensive entree. When the servers put down our drinks, they all spilled messily on the table, and then we were never asked for a second round at any point during the night. The food was not up to previous dining experiences.
Have eaten at Paladar numerous times. Have always enjoyed it and the food has always been top notch. Sunday must have been an off day. First I’ll say is the guacamole was delicious. If I’d just had that it would have been perfect. However, I ordered the Crispy Pork Shank. Came out and looked over cooked. I took a bite and literally spit it out. It was disgusting. No flavor. Dry. Over cooked. Inedible. Ended up sending it back and ordering the same thing as my wife. However, mine was totally bland with very little seasoning.
Wife had the Cuban rum pork which was better than mine. my son had the chorizo burger which he really enjoyed. The fries were delicious.
Service was great. Will probably come again since we’ve always had great experiences prior to this.
Not enough service during the buffet brunch. Not enough selection and there was not 1 thing made to order, so most had been cooked in bulk and just heated. Not worth the $150 + for my 4 person family.
Don't do a brunch buffet for mothers day. Food was poor, buffet was a mess, server was awful. Was a waste of money.
Also prim rib was so over done I spit it out.
Paladar is our go to restaurant because the food is consistently good at a reasonable price. One area to work on is there service. Our server was good, but took awhile to get just some guacamole and we received mostly the crumbs of the chips. If they improve their service I would give it 5 stars!
Want for lunch day before Mother's Day. It was crowded and servic was poor. Took almost an hour to get our food and it did not come out hot.
It was very disappointing this time, after having enjoyed our last two visits much more. The bar “could not” make a pina colada (why can’t a rum bar make a pina colada?) and, we couldn’t get an easy trio of tacos, they all had to be the same! We’ll take our $180 dinner for four elsewhere next time.
We try to eat at least twice a month if not more. We have never been disappointed. Both staff and food never fail.
Our server was amazing! very attentive and we had a great time. Love this place!
Our party had mixed success with the food. The hamburger, the steak and the salad were positive. My the meat in pork pernil tacos was dry and tasteless. The tortilla soup was the worst I have ever tasted. That is all I can recall o the food. The rum selection was excellent, and the service was beyond excellent. We could not have a conversation, as the noise level was uncomfortably loud. For someone who just wants to have a drink, the place would be fine. If you're eating, forget the Mexican fare and just get a burger.
This was our first visit to Paladar in Woodmere after the renovation. The food, wine, and rum were just as good as before - excellent! We had two ceviches, guac, and the hearts-of-palm salad with a Spellbound Chardonnay and the presidential rum flight. The food was outstanding in all aspects. It is nice to have an excellent but relatively rare (in restaurants) Chardonnay like Spellbound. The three rums in the flight were all excellent, and they worked together in a beautiful progression. Our server was ideal. We find the new ambience to be no better than the old. It's still quite comfortable. We think perhaps there is some additional seating, and if this is the case, this was accomplished without making things seem crowded. The new mirror wall increases the sense of spaciousness, but it isn't as interesting as the old wavy white wall/sculpture. We miss that, and there is no new interesting visual focal point to replace it. The space cries out for some interesting legitimate art; it seems strange not to have more art in a space like this.
Summary: The visual elements and general ambience are just OK - not obtrusive but not interesting - but the food, wine, and rum are excellent, and the prices are good. Our server was outstanding. We will be back!
We arrived at 4:00 for happy hour. Great value, great food. We will definitely go again.
Good for a business lunch on a Friday. Quiet enough to talk. Great value and good tasty food.
I've been here many times but never for the brunch buffet. We went on Easter and the buffet was amazing. All of the food was delicious and fresh tasting and there was a great variety. I had waited in line for my kids to get dessert after it was done and they had run out for the time being. One of the chefs brought us desserts to the table so we didn't have to wait again, it was very nice!
Food selection is always excellent and quality & quantity are great. Love the newly remodeled Elton Square location. Managers are perceptive & accommodating. Can’t beat the tasty $3 Mimosas One of our favorite places.
Walked in, gave my name fore for reservations and was seated immediately. Server was very attentive, even though it took us a awhile to order food. The Atmosphere & Food were GREAT
The new decor looks great. Food is delicious as usual.
One of my favorite restaurants but not tonight. Not sure what the hiccup was but I’ll go back.
Had the WORST server ever!!!! first of all she was very slow and it was not crowded at all. Secondly I ordered my salmon well done and it came cooked through but not at all well done but had a well done piece of skin on top of it which was very unappealing. I ate around the salmon because it was also very fishy tasting. (mind you salmon is my favorite fish and it has to be really bad for me not to eat it) and when the waitress picked up the plate and saw the salmon still sitting there never took the initiative to ask if something was wrong.
Delicious and fun birthday dinner. Food and service our excellent! Noise is worse than ever!! New decor is very nice.
Although the food this particular evening wasn't up to par, we've been here before and it has been excellent. Both our steaks were ordered medium rare and they came out well. Our waiter was very good and comped our steaks without us even asking or complaining. I Will go back.
Had lunch at Paladar yesterday and it was my first time there since the remodeling was completed. It looked great. I have had many lunches and several dinners at Paladar over the years. Yesterday we were celebrating our birthdays, which are a week apart. Using Open Table, I indicated that we had a birthday celebration. Our very pleasant, attentive and skilled server made mention of our birthdays and shared that they had a special dessert for us and did we want it. So, naturally we said yes! It was delicious and beautiful. I will keep returning to Paladar and recommend it to others.
We love Paladar! It’s one of our favorite restaurants!!!
Really like the renovated space. Food is always good and different.
Unfortunately, Paladar has been remodeled and along with the remodel comes higher prices and the removal of some of our favorite menu items. Side 2 of the menu is mostly a page full of rum selections that I have no interest in. We also waited an hour just to get an appetizer of guacamole and chips. It wasn't that busy and should not have taken so long. We also missed the cool color-changing mural - GONE. We won't be back - there are too many other places in Cleveland to explore.
Food was great, great selection of rums and I appreciated the explanation and recommendations included. Service could've been faster but overall great place.
Service was alive before the remodel and still is slow after the remodel
Liked the new interior. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient.
New decor is hideous. Service was spotty.
Our waitress was outstanding! The trio guac was delicious and we ordered the sweet potato ancient grain salad bowl, it to was delicious! We like the newly remodeled interior, nice and open. We will be back!
Love the new look and their hamburgers are excellent!
The food is very good - I had salmon with spaetzle - I wouldn't expect that at a Latin restaurant - but the food was delicious, with a Latin accent. The drinks were very good. Service a bit slow, but our server was absolutely charming.
The food was delicious but it seemed that the wait staff was arguing over tables and ultimately the service was not great. By the time we received our food it was no longer hot because the two were arguing about tables and not providing service to the customers already seated. If the service were better I would have given the overall experience 5 stars.
The newly decorated restaurant is done in warm and rich dark tones and the tables are nicely separated. It has a feeling of openness and warmth. The menu is diverse enough to meet everyone's taste. I will say that their salads are way too big. They are easily the size of a main dish. I would suggest making them slightly smaller so that the main dish can be thoroughly enjoyed.
Really tasty and "different" food instead of "the usuals." Guacamole and other sauces great for appetizers while waiting for meals of salmon, pork, etc.
